Really unquenchable thirst over blow easy? Idk it might be close but idk if that's "easy" by an stretch. Vizier of Tumbling Sand over Emberhorn Minotaur or Open Into Wonder seems dubious at best.
I think Unquenchable is easily better than Puncturing Blow as it deals with creatures of any size for less mana. I think you're right that Emberhorn/Vizier was close, but those are the two cards he even considers and I think with 2 Cunning Survivors the cycle on Vizier edged it over Minotaur to LSV. I don't think Open to Wonder is really in consideration there; it requires too much to be good and often feels win-more.
You are not an idiot. As LSV mentioned, if he had lost his Cunning Survivor with the block a bit earlier in the game instead of the Vizier, he would have had access to 6 mana on that last turn and he could have cast Inferno Jet for the win. However, he only had access to 5 mana and therefore could not cast Inferno Jet.
