I’m teaching Retro Gun Handling this year. Two courses: Pre-1950 and 80s Action Flick. We’ll cover everything from one-handed firing with support hand on hip, to shooting over the support forearm and how to properly teacup.
Feels nice as shit to here Matt say that the stuff I'm doing is worth being highlighted. I'm not the guy he was talking about, but I've been on the same journey over the past year...I'm stronger than I've ever been, I'm a better shooter than I've ever been, and I feel like I'm in a better head space too.
My good friend is former SF and he didnt ever tell me. I put 2 and 2 together and saw some pics is his office that confirmed it. He alwas just saidbhe was in an airborne unit.
All great teachers are students first. Bruce Lee said it best. "A teacher is never a giver of truth; he is a guide, a pointer to the truth that each student must find for himself."
On that comment... "nobody gives a crap where you place", regarding the SWAT guy, that would be entirely dependent on whether he was going around acting like hot stuff. Remember training a CHP officer and a LAPD guy who had their noses up in the air at the beginning of the class (since the rest of the students were regular joes), and then when it was actually time to shoot, they were outshot by a few guys who never shot a gun up until a few days before the class. They acted like dogs with their tails between their legs for the rest of the day. Either way, most guys at shooting comps know they can outshoot 99% of LEOs already. Nothing new there.
So I’m up in the Pacific Northwest, and I’m having trouble finding instructors teaching along the lines discussed here, inductive training, etc. apart from flying to the east coast for a class which is cost prohibitive, so y’all have recommendations for trainers out here that share your/XRayAlpha philosophy ?
Hey man so obviously Matt, Nick and myself all travel across the country doing classes. All we really need is a range and some students. If you aren't in a position to host or arrange a class in your area I obviously can't keep up with everybody's schedule, and folks mean all sorts of things by "PNW" haha, but I'm sure some decent guys come through at least within driving distance. Based out of that area the only thing really coming to mind is Bruiser Industries. Haven't trained with him personally but he puts out a lot of good stuff.
Crazy that this was only 5 months ago, but Scott Jedilinski looks so much younger.
wow haha
Like this channel, this comment deserves way more recognition.

Good discussion. Grip and vision certainly are significant.
Excellent episode! Truth is always hard to sell. People would rather believe a lie than except the simple truth.
21:06 I use to have that slacker mentality, a. “one size fits all “ approach and call it a day

Matt brings pressure to the tactical train space.

16:23 How the heck do you get the same result with doubles using a good grip and a bad grip???
By focusing on a spot on the target and by not putting any unwanted movement into the gun.
