  • Inflatable anti-drowning device sits on your wrist like a mini life raft
    Forget water wings. The flotation device hangs out on your wrist, waiting to save you when you go under the water and need a lift back to the surface.
    SHUI BAO BAO Survival Gasbag
    Buy it Here: goo.gl/zPQFHp
    A wearer activates the flotation device, which literally explodes from the wrist thanks to a CO2 cartridge when you pull the release lever. might be better than nothing, but not as good as just wearing a lifejacket. What if you can't reach that lever? What if you're unconscious? And don't you don't breathe through your arm.
    That said, it's a cool little gadget that would give you a heck of a ride zooming up from the bottom of the pool. But a new and improved lifejacket it ain't.

    Remember there’s a difference between a bouyancy aid and a life jacket. Buoyancy aids like this keep you afloat while you’re physically capable. As you see in the video he is still kicking his feet and moving his arms to keep his head out the water. If you are on a boat you should have an inflatable life jacket which will roll you on your back and keep your head out the water if you’re unconscious or taking in water. There’s no point keeping you’re hand out the water if you can’t swim. Still a good buoyancy aid for a competent swimmer in an emergency. If you can’t swim wear a life jacket.

    I can see people who can't swim using these on boats. If you fall overboard, they might keep you afloat for a few minutes until you get picked up.

    Keeping you afloat is one thing, raising you from the depths quickly is a lot of science with depth, health of the individual, and potential dangers. Neat toy for surface only tired out swimmers, but.. more moving parts, more to go wrong. That moment of panic, should be something the individual learns when to deal with it in advance of it. Or get better safety measures. A vest is real safety, that toy is a gamble.

    eight + two more back ups = 10
    If you wear Total ten, then you are more safe

      As he say it is not a life preserving device but can surely increase the chance of survival (rescuers can see floating bodies easier)

    I think it's great for what it's purpose was for.... taking your kids to the beach etc. Very sure this will save lives where many people die on Australian beaches simple swimming on a weekend caught in a rip or dumped by a wave. Videos a bit out of context.

  • @shovelhead8
    @shovelhead8 6 лет назад +6

    I can see you drowned. One hand i with a flotations device attached to it. The middle finger raised in a one finger salute. All in all, it would make the body easier to find. Thank you for the video, David

    Being a former rescue AST swimmer, someone got me this as a joke. And it is that. A joke. Dont ACTUALLY wear this thinking itll in any way keep you afloat...your even just your hand.
    I WILL say this, however... it has potential for another use if it were made of more resilent materials. An Avelanch device.
    During an avelanch, youre pretty much screwed when meeting its leading edge at 80+mph. But it often depends on the type of snow. It all flows different, and has different densities. That means that soemtimes you just get swept up and carried along... and in that case your goal is to "swim" to the surface and try to avoid being burried. Denser objects (like bodies) tend to migrate to the bottom. With an inflatable kevlar bag full of negative space strapped to your wrist, it WOULD rise above the denser snow, and "lift" you with it - unconcious, or not. The orange bag would also be visible to rescuers.

      I could have done with it when my father was teaching me how to swim. He rowed me out to the middle of a large deep lake, picked me up, tossed me into the water and rowed himself back to shore without as much as a backwards glance.
      Actually, swimming back to safety wasn't too difficult ...... the really hard part was escaping from the tied up sack!

    I think it is underrated. Niemand wird mit einer Rettungsweste schwimmen gehen. Das Teil ist klein und scheint nicht weiter zu stören. Als erste Unterstützung im Wasser scheint es im zu sein. I'll test it in my vacation. Question is only you it is allowed to transport the CO2 in your luggage?

    • @verysurvival
      @verysurvival  6 лет назад +1

      Yes you can take CO2. I checked with several airlines.. normally 2 cartridges extra plus 2 inserted in a device like a life jacket, Personally I would not load the cartridge in the device in this but carry them loose until I was going on the water

    A modern & cunning Chinese version of the old S.A.S emergency wrist floatation device, (a 'heavy-duty'condom taped to the underside of your wristwatch .... not self-inflating obviously).
    If only this new version had included an emergency survival fishing kit inside of the floatation-bag compartment ... they missed a trick there!
    Great demonstration Dave, you certainly put it to the test ..... although i fear that you risk getting reported for breaking RUclips's obscenity guidelines during the bit where you were floating on your back .... Maybe add a 'Trigger Warning' in the title descriction?

    This isn't a life jacket. Okay lets not market it as a life jacket. Reviews come in, hurr durr it ain't a life jacket it might not be optimal in XYZ. Well folks wearing a fucking lifejacket may not be feasible in XYZ either. Tools have intended purposes, they're circumstantial. This is something everyone can wear. It's like bitching that a pistol isn't as good as a rifle because of XYZ and therefore has no circumstantial benefits. I'd always thought they were quite small and easy to carry, they could even make little holders for them, might market that myself actually, call them holsters maybe.
