It’s refreshing to see you left that foot-slip at the beginning in on this video. Imagine you were working with a telescoping saw, in other words, both hands occupied, and you were just finishing your cut, and the branch overhead was coming down, and you stepped back on a small boulder underneath the leaves, just like you did there, but with no hand to steady yourself, because both hands are still holding your expensive extension saw. That happened to me last fall, without a helmet, and on my way down to the ground, as I felt back, the back of my skull cracked right into a hardwood tree. That’s why I’m buying this helmet today. The entry-level helmets that I own, well, they would’ve protected me in the event of that fall, but also would’ve fallen off my head as well, and they are not really very good, are they. They are OK and they will save you, but this helmet is the Cadillac. Great review!
Years ago I was into auto racing. When folks would complain that the (Snell) certified helmets were too expensive, we'd always reply, "What's your head worth?"
Did you buy replacement muffs from Pfanner or did you replace them with something like Peltors? And if you went the peltor route howd you rig em to fit?
My Protos just arrived (June '21). Had a little trouble figuring out the adjustments, but it's set up right & feels good. Sometimes when you pay a higher price, it's worth the extra cost for a nice product. I'm only a tree cutting hobbiest, but I'm sure I made a good choice.
@@JohnnyIDive37 I was using it yesterday. I'm just a tree hobbiest, but I love everything about the Protos. Helping a neighbor cut down a black walnut. He said I can have the wood! It's too beautiful to burn, so I will try to find someone local that can make lumber or anything from it.
Thanks for the review. Got mine today. Best helmet I've owned. £180.00 inc shipping (U.K) and Inc straps. Agree with you about the neck flap. They do the Forest,Arborist etc options, why not include one on one of the different models. Stay safe buddy.

Great review, I wish you said something about the noise reduction ability of the ear muffs. Thanks
Best helmet ever had mine 3 years now only thing changed on it are the muffs and padding inside the helmet 😁
