  • In this short documentary I discuss the life, work and influence of Sligo fiddler Michael Coleman. His recordings from the 20's and 30's were imitated by Irish fiddlers everywhere, and are still held in great esteem, many of the sets or tune combinations which he recorded still being at the heart of today's repertoire.

Excellent information Chris, on this outstanding fiddler. 👍 "Bonnie Kate and Jenny's Chickens" are among my favourite Coleman recordings.

@@dazpatreg I meant that in the specific sense that he his style was so influential he overrode many traditional styles but the practice may have fallen into obscurity if he hadn't come along at all.

"The music might well have perished for lack of interest" without Coleman? What utter nonsense.
