Dang. This makes Blood Magic look positively family friendly. And Dire sounds way too pleasant for what he's doing. "And now we're gonna tear the soul out of this sheep and stuff it into ourselves, won't that be neat?!"
+Earthenfist Useless things like empathy are crushed under the mighty foot of progress. I realized this when Dire built an "emerald farm" that birthed live villagers and then dropped them into an inch-deep (but unavoidable) pool of molten aluminum. Then he put a sound muffler on it because their cries of pain were annoying.
+liger04 Yeah, the times when Dire would create Mystcraft ages to send "useless" villagers to are over. I also was very disappointed when he created that villager grinder calling it a "way to send villagers to heaven without causing lag" :/ Although in his defense I can say that vanilla villagers act more like animals than people. If you compare them for example to Millenaire or other properly implemented NPCs, the vanilla ones are just asking to be treated like livestock.
+ChauNyan gregtech's dev also put a virus in it at one point. i'm surprised it is still around. i guess if it lived through that it was because his fanboys all yelled his virus wasn't a virus.
+ChauNyan You're not supposed to grind at all, you're meant to make machines to do it for you. +AdamG3691 Don't forget about villager souls! Especially the ones of children.
***** That's is why i used quotation marks. As for Thaumcraft, you mostly do it to yourself. If power is "evil", then EE2 wins by a LONG stretch. And what do you mean, i "kill" the gaia guardian? It is a test, nothing more. Fact is, killing them is short. Taking their soul an use them as puppets (and more) is much more... torturous. Btw, as for second place in "evil", it would be witchery (from the same autor as intangible!) or summoning the life guardian in Ars Magica2. Oh and Gregtech may be "evil" but in a "good" kind of way. More difficult then frustrating, so to say.
Sheep spawner, attractor to the bone cage, then relays. Levers on wall turning specific relays on/off to make different paths. Three levers up, soul well, two up one down, benign stone ect.
I've been waiting direwolf I've been playing this mod for about a week and still have no idea what to do when it comes to the more advanced stuff. Thank you :D!!!!
Just from this preview, this mod looks awesome! All of the processes we've seen so far are automatable, but not particularly easy - right up my alley. And creating computer-controlled 'soul roads' to make sure one Soul Relay path at a time is active- oh, this mod is going to be fun. :D
Dang, So many mods for the evil path. So few for the good path. Guess it is just a matter of the preference of the mod makers (and the players). Would like to see a mod take the good path. Just for something different. Though it could just be that the evil path mods are more noticeable. I guess their are mods that take other paths. * I never much cared for calling it the path of dark or light. I always preferred the darkness, and I always preferred good. To me darkness is the time of healing and regenerating. It has so many positive things to it.
Well of Souls??? Where is my Headpiece to the Staff of Ra??? LOL!!! Great Mod Spotlight, Dr. Jones, er. . . I mean, Dire!! (LOL) Can't wait for the next one!!! Keep up the Awesome job!!!
Tip for those who want some easy predatory souls. Snow golem counts as predatory, just make one in the front of the cage, and lock it the moment you place the pumpkin head.
There should be a blood magic addon and a tinkers construct addon Blood magic is obvious Tinkers construct could give you special weapon based spells if you infuse a soul into a weapon, you could even drop the weapon and it becomes a mob with it's health bar and attack based of the weapons durability and attack damage, right click with an empty hand to pick the weapon back up.
The mod looks interesting, but i think their is to many magical mods, and too few industrial mods. But still i will test it out :P And Dire! Great video as Always!
Man, i look forward to automating the hell out of this mod. Most challenging part would be constructing a mob farm to feed directly into your soul cage, but can somehow filter which creatures get sent to it since each soul cage setup seems to only be tailored to one soul type. Could probably cheese it with block breakers/placers to just reset the glassware to suit the type of mob that drops into it, but that seems less fun.
+H3LL5PL1NT3R I'm not sure how you would do it, but automating the most basic souls (benign, predatory, unhinged, and wise) can even be done with vanilla redstone. Minecarts to grab mobs from farms (auto chicken farm, mob spawners, or other auto-spawning systems), activator rails to kick them out of the minecart by the cage, detector rails to automatically put them in and begin the extraction process. You'd need different cages for the different souls, but so long as you keep your rail lines separate you should be fine. There's even vanilla mob sorting systems to separate zombies (predatory) and creepers (unhinged) if you were to build a mob spawner... but luring them into your base might be easier at that point. The really hard part is automating the mid-late game souls. Malleable souls would be a challenge, but I think possible. Noble and Doomed... might be impossible. If you can figure out a way to do that, tell me :D
+AdamG3691 Ah, I had forgotten about that! That does make malleable souls pretty easy. While I've never created a doomed soul myself, I think I have a pretty good idea on how to do so. How would you automate the creation of the "donor"? ... Judging from how you worded your response, I'm guessing you were trying to stay spoiler-free. If you wanna just PM me that's fine too :D
+CoalOres Oh so this IS from the author of witchery. at some points of the design I was like: "This looks so familiar." (like the fact that there are barely any UI windows in it...)
cornchev Also is anyone else getting a weird visual glitch with optifine on the soul well? The textures appear to be going infinitely down into the ground.
this is such a weird way of designing a mod it has a very specific way of starting and getting to the book, and yet you won't know about it until you craft the book
+Camkin i think so. since it's a MC1.8 mod and forgecraft is the testing playground for the authors. the thing holding it back from the server right now might be compatibility issues with other mods.
I like everything I saw except that circuit stamper which is required for a lot of recipes. It doesn't fit with the overall thematic and it's just like a more tedious 2x2 crafting table, what's even the point? If you replaced that part with vanilla crafting it wouldn't take anything away from the experience, actually it might even improve it by being able to automate the crafting with other mods.
So how did Dire have what looked like a Sickle on his Hotbar at that start? No mod that is public atm adds it right? I THINK I heard ExUtil2 adds Sickles, and I GUESS he could be playing with the FC instance, if I'm wrong, someone please let me know. (Edit) Looks like he IS on the FC instance, because of the Factorization Giant in the background at (roughly) 7:20
I'm not getting bubble pfx when I put lapis with soulbone in water (1:40). Did I do something wrong or is this just a bug? edit: just a bug. I decided to give it (exactly) a minute and it worked just fine.
Do you know of any mods either in existence or development that take the custom spell idea from Ars Magica, but put into a more itemized progression. i.e., if Ars Magica didn't have leveling, and used staves/tomes to channel or cast spells that you socket/bind to the Staff or Tome, with possibly more powerful Staves and/or Tomes that either house more spells at a time or augment the spells effects to greater degrees. I would love that, and if nothing like that exists or being made, I might try my hand at some Java. It's not too different from C++ right?
Oh wow. I was writing a book about a mad scientist type character that dealt with souls and I stumbled upon this by chance. Hopefully it give me some ideas.
is it possible to apply a redstone signal to the bellows so you do not need to be near it for it to work? ya know by making a redstone clock this mod seems amazing I hope it will be in "atlauncher" with other mods its gonna be paradize!
+TheRezro 1.7 IE is done Blu is now working on 1.8. An initial release is up on forgecraft but is not public yet. I talk with Blu on a daily basis and I can assure you he's working as fast as possible on 1.8. +Giraffe They are currently developing another version from the ground up that will be different then what we get from TFC today so if he is he might aswell wait for the new version as the old one wont be updated anymore
Is my idea or that giant black thing there on the distance is a colosus from another mod? Cause i remember figthing them up on 1.7.10 thou i dont remember the mod rigth now...
Looks like a great mod, unfortunately it's for 1.8.9 unlike most other "1.8 ready" mods using 1.8.8 :(Have you ever spotlit or checked out Malisis doors? How about EZ Storage?
+the posh git Blood Magic, Witchery, Thaumcraft Eldritch (and all of the addons), the only major magic mod that doesn't seem dark is Botania, though in the end-game you do kill the spirit of the earth, several times. We're all dark magi

+Earthenfist based off the darkness of some mods, dire is probably used to it by now :P
+liger04 holy shit, damn
+Earthenfist Funny enough, a show that I've been watching almost had one character have another's (human) soul transplanted into herself.
+liger04 Yeah, the times when Dire would create Mystcraft ages to send "useless" villagers to are over.
I also was very disappointed when he created that villager grinder calling it a "way to send villagers to heaven without causing lag" :/
Although in his defense I can say that vanilla villagers act more like animals than people. If you compare them for example to Millenaire or other properly implemented NPCs, the vanilla ones are just asking to be treated like livestock.
Congratulations Emoniph, you managed to make a fully in world guidebook. And they said it couldn't be done.
"Let's just NEI this item in with JEI"
Old habits die hard, I guess.
This may be the most "evil" minecraft mod so far.
Besides Gregtech, of course.
+AdamG3691 But Gregtech makes you grind for hour for one overclocker....
+ChauNyan gregtech's dev also put a virus in it at one point. i'm surprised it is still around. i guess if it lived through that it was because his fanboys all yelled his virus wasn't a virus.
+ChauNyan

+Darian Stephens Getting the resources for that mod is terrible. I'll be better off grinding.
25:05 - "So that's your stole sorage mechanic". Awesome, I've always wanted to know how to stole sores. Wait, what?
Yeah i was just like: "Wait what?"
+MadMax7000 wait what? am I doing this right?
+Y2KNW gg spoonerisms
+Y2KNW lol that might've been the first time I've seen a spoonerism overlooked by the speaker...
+Y2KNW It could be "Stole Soaryge Mechanic". What if you get a player in that bone cage? XD
27:45 you are now a sheep in direwolf's clothing
Man I loved this mod. I wish the mod creator didn’t disappear from the internet sometimes :/
That Horn Sound " Glory to Arstotzka!"
"I'm just going to NEI that into my inventory with JEI"-DireWolf20
Sheep spawner, attractor to the bone cage, then relays. Levers on wall turning specific relays on/off to make different paths. Three levers up, soul well, two up one down, benign stone ect.
"So that's your stole sourage mechanic" that made this mod so much better. Love your videos DireWolf :D
This was Emoniph's last mod... i really miss Witchery...
Do you guys remember the old days when Direwolf20 always needed a lever for something, and people made a joke out of it?
Buttons :D
First Reaction : Oh look this is cool. Look at the cute sheep soul
After : This is scary...
"The soul that sinneth, it shall baa"
Dire is actually following ingame documentation? Preposterous!
I've been waiting direwolf I've been playing this mod for about a week and still have no idea what to do when it comes to the more advanced stuff. Thank you :D!!!!
How do you not have atleast half a million subs by now?!?!
The In-World Book is DEFINETLY very cool, you can look up things and not have always open a book.
Just from this preview, this mod looks awesome! All of the processes we've seen so far are automatable, but not particularly easy - right up my alley. And creating computer-controlled 'soul roads' to make sure one Soul Relay path at a time is active- oh, this mod is going to be fun. :D

The only thing is it would be awesome if extracting souls from animals created zombie animals out of their soulless bodies. :D
This new mod gives me so much hope for the future of minecraft mods c:
There should be a blood magic addon and a tinkers construct addon
Blood magic is obvious
Tinkers construct could give you special weapon based spells if you infuse a soul into a weapon, you could even drop the weapon and it becomes a mob with it's health bar and attack based of the weapons durability and attack damage, right click with an empty hand to pick the weapon back up.
Emoniph you're a genius! I'm loving this mod so far and Dire has said he's barely scratched the surface! Did I just wag? #magicforminecraft
The mod looks interesting, but i think their is to many magical mods, and too few industrial mods.
But still i will test it out :P
And Dire! Great video as Always!
omg I haven't watched you in like a year I'm glad to see you're the same ol direwolf20

25:07: The Stoul Sorage mechanic. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.
I've been playing this today and I love it. What a great mod
Another fantastic mod by Emoniph, I wonder if he will revamp Witchery to 1.8?
+CoalOres Oh so this IS from the author of witchery. at some points of the design I was like: "This looks so familiar." (like the fact that there are barely any UI windows in it...)
+CoalOres Yes, intangible was actually made so he could test the waters for 1.8. It WILL take a while though.
cornchev Also is anyone else getting a weird visual glitch with optifine on the soul well? The textures appear to be going infinitely down into the ground.
I certainly would not mind the new book UI. I love witchery , however it annoys me how hard it is to automate.
+Hornswroggle They seem to be good at making 'evil' mods, don't they?
I wonder if ChimneySwift11 will do anything with this...
Amazing, just crazy, can't wait to try it out and automate everything ! Why haven't we even heard of that mod in any of the forgecraft episode ?
That Knowledge Gem is fancy stuff.
this is such a weird way of designing a mod
it has a very specific way of starting and getting to the book, and yet you won't know about it until you craft the book
So you grind and kill a sheep with a bone, it turns into dust, that dust sticks to the bone.
"Monsters' funerals are cool as heck"
Is your new SP series going to have this mod?
+Camkin it already does
Ohh sorry should've specified... Singleplayer not server play lol Whoops XD
+Camkin i think so. since it's a MC1.8 mod and forgecraft is the testing playground for the authors. the thing holding it back from the server right now might be compatibility issues with other mods.
+Camkin Absolutely :). I'm REALLY enjoying this mod.
+direwolf20 me too! never fully understood it until now
So basically the knowedge gem is the coolest thing ever.Sounds like that zooming out thing for the Thaumonomicon xD
I miss this one...
That looks like a rellay crazy thing... looking forward to see the multicrazy/block stuff :D
All this nature of SOULs stuff just reminds me of Undertale
+ChauNyan Yes
+Sunz
muehehehehehe....

That sound the discoveries make sounds like one of the notes from the 'papers please' song

Man I can't wait for more mods to be updated to 1.8 so I can try all the new mods already in 1.8
you got to pay the troll toll to get into that sheeps soul
"Not that I ever did that by mistake however."
Sure dire, sure. We all know why others never refer to you as "direnoob". :P
DONT GET FLOWEY ANYWHERE NEAR THIS MOD PLZ, HE WILL TAKE ALL THE SOULS
25:03 "So that's your stoul sorage mechanic."
Your intro isn't too flamboyant and gets to the point. Nice.
dire, there is a mod that has a item called the dire crafting table that you can craft "you favorite thing" a creative tank.
Those bone cages would make great dungeon dressing, awaesome.
You should do a mod spotlight on Draconic Evolution.
This seems cool. Reminds me of the Necromancy mod, sort of. But way more. I like it!
Looking forward to the next episode, so far its sweet.... :D
Bellows can be worked by alternating redstone signal, instead of handclicking
I'm not getting bubble pfx when I put lapis with soulbone in water (1:40). Did I do something wrong or is this just a bug?
edit: just a bug. I decided to give it (exactly) a minute and it worked just fine.
One of my absolute favorite mods :(
It's Soul Magic... i am interested about merging this mod with Thaumcraft... could be some great results...
+Dakie Salamander Imagine merging it with Thaumcraft, Blood Magic, Witchery, and that other one that I always forget the name of.
***** No not that one. Ars Magica I think
+darkmagnet21 Ars Magica is the one that lets you make your own spells. It also features a cow dimension.
I hope someone makes an Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs add on for this, it would fit really nicely.
this mod is like the magical equivalent of advanced genetics
Do you know of any mods either in existence or development that take the custom spell idea from Ars Magica, but put into a more itemized progression. i.e., if Ars Magica didn't have leveling, and used staves/tomes to channel or cast spells that you socket/bind to the Staff or Tome, with possibly more powerful Staves and/or Tomes that either house more spells at a time or augment the spells effects to greater degrees. AJ Parker well maybe am late but psi is kinda have what you want ,and roots (kinda)
other than that I don't believe there is
So, lets talk about souls. And about linking the flames.
25:02 "That's your stole sorage mechanic"
its been forever since ive watched u thanks for being so friendy
Oh wow. I was writing a book about a mad scientist type character that dealt with souls and I stumbled upon this by chance. Hopefully it give me some ideas.
let's put it in the world and wool be in good shape
I want them to add creatures having a soul limit and when it's drained they become evil.
God dammit, the first thing I've seen in this mod and I'm already in love with it.
+TheNextDecade244 I was in love from the moment that I saw the book and realized it was Emoniphs mod XD
+TheWizardMiner Once you know that it is from a really dependable source which is an awesome human being its love on first sight xD
Don't even need pt2. Ditching modpacks, going to 1.8 now! (are there any 1.8 modpacks?... :P)
Love the idea of this mod.
looks like a mod i would enjoy a lot but it need different cages for different creature types
this should work on players that would be wierd and fun
is it possible to apply a redstone signal to the bellows so you do not need to be near it for it to work?
ya know by making a redstone clock
this mod seems amazing I hope it will be in "atlauncher" with other mods its gonna be paradize!
I wonder if the forbidden magic addon will include comparability for this mod?
That would be a match made in heaven.
Souls used to power up yourself and other things. Reminds me of Dark souls 4 leveling
OMG i might get back into modded minecraft for this!
Do you quote Macbeth around the 16:30 mark?
if you hit the crystal with dye, it's color changes
This and Witchery should have compatibilities :D
Like, being able to use a circle to summon a soul or something
why not a Spotlight on Immersive Engineering?
+Cade Craft He won't do any more 1.7 spotlights
+Cade Craft
Was it finished?
+TheRezro 1.7 IE is done Blu is now working on 1.8. An initial release is up on forgecraft but is not public yet. I talk with Blu on a daily basis and I can assure you he's working as fast as possible on 1.8. Phishphan420 Thanks for info. My point was that it isn't public yet and that is why it wasn't spotlight yet.
*facepalm* thats 1.7.10 not 1.8
This weird dude tried to beat up a sheep with a bone.
Wonder what gone into him.
the body decays but the soul lingers on
A new magic mod to play with :) add it to the list
This mod is AWESOME! Emoniph is amazing!
Dire, are you ever going to play TFC?
+Giraffe i hope sp :D something that would be superior cool would be him playing together with etho. i dunno why.
+Kevin ulfenstein Etho4Life
+Giraffe They are currently developing another version from the ground up that will be different then what we get from TFC today so if he is he might aswell wait for the new version as the old one wont be updated anymore
+Giraffe Team fortress classic ?
ataarono
No.
do a mod spotlight on infamy - notoriety!
"I'm just going to NEI this with JEI."
soul magic = dark magic.
dire has gone into the dark arts, everybody run for your lives
+the posh git
Blood Magic, Witchery, Thaumcraft Eldritch (and all of the addons), the only major magic mod that doesn't seem dark is Botania, though in the end-game you do kill the spirit of the earth, several times.
We're all dark magi
Hazerd
so he's darker than we thought, more incentive to run.
Jacob Bengel witchery at it's best and worst.
I miss this mod :(
Semi related question, how does JEI differ from NEI? I can tell the gui is a bit different.
Armor repair? I like it already.
The main question : can you extract souls of other players and then trade them ?
Would love some soul trading..
Awesome! More mod spotlights! :D
...
....
.....
I love you, Emoniph! XD
Stoul sorage mechanic, huh, Dire? 25:00
"Absorb Souls" So if i absorb a monster / human soul would i become one of the most powerful beings in the world?
