The bucket always holds a cubic meter, and since it takes three iron and you need three buckets that makes a cubic meter of iron, when you drop a block in item form next to an egg in item form they're roughly the same size, the sugar is just chopped up sugarcane to the best of our knowledge, and when you harvest wheat crops it drops 1-2 wheat with rubber that somehow got created.
