Native Construct might be one of the biggest "what if" bands in the last decade. They were a group of students from Berkley. Quiet World was their one and only album and then they just went away. Its one of personal favorite concept albums, following a mute man's struggle to proclaim his love for a girl but being rejected, so he turns inward and creates a world in his mind where he is a all powerful god. His mania is apparant in the lyrics and music, where he will have breaks with reality. Its really an incredible piece of work.
Couldn't have said it better myself, and I've heard many people just call them a BTBAM rip-off, the influence is obviously there, but their work stands on its own, I don't think Coma Ecliptic coming out within a year of this album helped their case in any way, hate that their not still together
I think on a more meta level this album represents the inner struggle of a depressed doomer, with Sinister Silence being a metaphor for his anger and despair and The Archon being a metaphor for his hope and the indomitable human spirit. Sinister Silence can trap The Archon and bind him in darkness but is incapable of killing him outright because somewhere deep down the Mute still clings to his hope for a brighter future.
So happy you finally checked them out. Between the buried and me is the only reason this album exists, they got native construct signed to their label. They did 1 album and it took like 5 years to get it out, then they broke up. The album is a prog legend in my mind.
truly amazing you got around to some Native Construct. they made the best concept album of 2015 and stopped making more music for this project. it's truly sad, but at least we have this album, and their guitarist still makes stuff too, Poh Hock is amazing
was fortunate enough to see these guys live when they were on tour with between the buried and me such a shame they just stopped this album was really far ahead for a debut album
I've never click on a video sooo fast! One of my favorite albums, and Miles (one of the guitarist) is a super nice guy. Not to ruin the magic, but the drums were programmed if I remember right. Definitely worth a full album listen, it would be a disservice to yourself to only do this one track!!
I requested this once well over a year ago and I woke up today to a notification for this video. Made my day! I love this whole album dearly. Thanks for listening! Edit after watching: Really loved that you described it as madness and lunacy, because these are some of the primary themes of this album.
that album is special... top level mastery of instrumetns and the mind to go crazy with it...musical exploration at that point... i bet donati would like this, and that says alot :D
Never see anyone react to these guys. Great album. Definitely have some songs I like even more on there, but this is a great taste, too. Thanks for the reaction! lol at waving your drink like a lighter at a concert haha
That was an incredible song! Not really related much but the vocals at a few parts sort of remind me of Rishloo. I've never seen anyone do a reaction/analysis of any Rishloo songs but I think you might enjoy the song Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
I am an old prog metal fan and this is easily one of my all time favs, masterpiece. The drummer!! My goodness. The whole record is a trip!! So sad there was only one.
This is the end of a concept album. Like, the finale, where all the other songs and themes you've heard throughout the album are played together on top of each other, like in West side story or Oklahoma
due to the odd time structure and technical aspects of the drum arrangement, with some other factors, this song was never played live; a touring drummer for the band covered the song extremely well, years after the band fell apart, his name is James Knoerl and he now plays with Aviations, another Berklee-based prog band
If you're curious, I'm not sure Native Construct ever had a drummer in their official line up (this album used programmed drums) but James Knoerl toured with them for their live shows. He has a RUclips channel and he does a full studio play-through of this song if you want to seem the madness happen in real time. ruclips.net/video/JdJEXudpgBQ/видео.html
I considered Quiet World to be one of the best debuts in prog metal when it first dropped. Absolutely outstanding album, and also a shame that it was their only one.
This song has a lot of musical callbacks to the rest of the album, you should definitely check some of that album out if you want, one of the best prog albums I have ever heard. That being said, this is probably my least favorite song on the album (too chaotic for me)

This might be the very first song I ever requested you to de-compose!... THANK YOU!!!

I didn't think you'd ever cover Native Construct, hell yeah!
One of the great singularities in progressive music. That they only released one album is a tragedy but what an album!
Greatest 1 album wonder ever. The 2 minute track before this really fits as an intro. They should have just added it to this track.
Suberb album. No problem going one and done these days either. Just thankful we got what we did. Thank you Native Construct!

I was in love with this song when I was a little kid. I’m so glad to see you reacting to it

they are programmed but James Knoerl managed to nail many of the insane parts live... Rudinger level ability...

One of the most creative albums I've heard ever
Always appreciate your views on music I love, Geebz!
Was lucky enough to get to see them live twice. Love how they throw crazy stuff in there.
This album is so good. I cant wait to watch this after work. Funny acid was mentioned. This album is amazing on acid.
Gentle Giant complexity. Love it!
that album is special... top level mastery of instrumetns and the mind to go crazy with it...musical exploration at that point... i bet donati would like this, and that says alot :D
Thank you Geebz
sir, are you R. Kelly?
I love this band and all of their album

Check out Doug Helvering's reaction to Mute.
Funny story, I take guitar lessons from one of their guitarists, and I dated someone who dated the vocalist hehe Boston is a small world
If it was any smaller, you would have had to just date the singer yourself!
That was an incredible song!
Not really related much but the vocals at a few parts sort of remind me of Rishloo.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
For the love of (insert diety here) please do a full album review. This masterpiece cannot be hidden any longer
duuuuude i forgot about this song lol. wild one
OMG I absolutely love this album
I am an old prog metal fan and this is easily one of my all time favs, masterpiece. The drummer!! My goodness. The whole record is a trip!! So sad there was only one.
Drums are programmed 😂but they were played to perfection when they toured
This is the end of a concept album. Like, the finale, where all the other songs and themes you've heard throughout the album are played together on top of each other, like in West side story or Oklahoma
Great video!
fun to see someone be as perplexed as i was hearing thisi for the 1st tim.e..
I really wish these guys continued on... 😪
Fun facr, this album was composed, it wasnt played and then wrote like most albums, they went paper first on a lot of the sections
Love your channel, how about reacting to some UK bands such as yard act or idles?
OH MY GOD YESSSS
Drums are programmed !
I love when Geebz goes "the drummer though!!" and it's programmed lol
due to the odd time structure and technical aspects of the drum arrangement, with some other factors, this song was never played live; a touring drummer for the band covered the song extremely well, years after the band fell apart, his name is James Knoerl and he now plays with Aviations, another Berklee-based prog band
New here! Have you ever heard any of Small Town Titans covers? You've got to hear their version of "The Grinch"
Song is nuts I love this album 😭
FINALLY
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
The chaotic part of the track is the best part
Oh Geebz, you gotta try Schizoid Lloyd "Avalanche Riders!" now!!
That was knucking futs! A story book within a song haha

A once in a lifetime album, by exceptional musicians. A millenial click. So glad there isn´t a sequal. Fucking brilliant!
Unified Chaos
Would you kindly do Chevelle - Glimpse of the Con
First time I heard this song I had to literally pull my car over to try to understand what the fuck I was listening to. I miss this band.
I considered Quiet World to be one of the best debuts in prog metal when it first dropped. Absolutely outstanding album, and also a shame that it was their only one.
song is atleast suppose to be somewhat chaotic because aberration welcomes distortion.
Parius and Nospun for more prog!
Berklee, not even once.
This song has a lot of musical callbacks to the rest of the album, you should definitely check some of that album out if you want, one of the best prog albums I have ever heard. That being said, this is probably my least favorite song on the album (too chaotic for me)
now do Mute
Amazong
The drummer is a computer.
