Dorian is a great great Sportsman and Champion !!! Very very best .....Greetings from Germany.../ Hannover ** All THE BEST WISHES FOR DORIAN FROM OUR HEARTS ....
Dorian to this day for me is the most inspiring bodybuilder. He didn't have the genetics of say Ronnie Coleman or Phil heath. But he surpassed them all thru sheer Will discipline and higher power. He was a mass monster to say the least and idk bout you guys, but the best back in bodybuilding to this day. He was and is why I train today. Thanks Shadow ☝️💪
Although I agree with you about Yates' discipline, the idea that "Coleman" or "Heath" had better genetics is false. Yates had a wider structure than either (especially Heath, who looks like a muscular troll), better shaped thighs (especially compared to Coleman, whose thighs resembled blown-up balloons), better back than either, superior calves, better midsection (Coleman has the ugliest midsection of any Olympia winner; Heath is the definition of a "bubblegut"), better forearms, & superior conditioning & hardness (both Coleman & Heath looked soft & blubbery -- Yates looked like he was carved from granite). You're certainly correct that he surpassed both.
Don’t forget Dorians crazy forearms and calves, they were massive

@@TruthTellert63 90% of what you said is purely achieved through hard work. I mean, "better back than either" he wasn't born with better back genetics, he got a better back than both Phil and Ronnie through training. Superior calves? Genetics up to a point but if you go through yates' career you will notice that in his early days and even in his first Mr. O his calves weren't THAT crazy as we know them to be in his prime. Better midsection? depends what you mean, the width? Phil has a smaller waist than both Ronnie and Dorian but then again he's 30-40 pounds smaller than them. Ronnie's abs were weird and ugly, but his midsection was tight in his earlier years. After 2002-2003 he developed a bubble gut. Conditioning and hardness is also achieved through dieting, not genetics. Coleman could've looked just as conditioned and hard as Dorian if he would've sacrificed enough mass. But he didn't want to. The granite thing is also because of the HIIT training (Dorian himself said this). Heavy weights=granite looking physique. Although, Dorian did have thin skin so that helped him achieve that granite look as well.

This is an awesome video, and a true insight into Dorian. Dorian must be one of the most grounded sportsmen/bodybuilder/philosophers out there ! Always a pleasure to listen to and comes across as a genuine good guy ! Deeper than most !
Damn the videos got taken down and I got so sad bc I watch this, Arnold, Tom, and lee Haney tape every day to keep me focused. So glad it’s back!!! WTH happened lol
I miss that days with Arnold, Ronnie and Dorian, there was more heart in bodybuilding with no instagram or shit like this. Every bodybuilder was created by his own hard work, addicted to it, focused on it and today taking selfies is more important than good old motivation.

I don't think people realize what this man accomplished. He was the greatest among greats in an era where size was the new thing. He consistently beat Shawn, Wheeler, Levrone and Nasser when they had an amazing physique as well. Only Ronnie was capable of dethroning Yates.
well he didn't. Yates dominated everyone, including Ronnie, for 6 years. 14 consecutive pro show wins, almost every single one of those shows with perfect scores. Ronnie only got his 5 minutes after Yates decided to retire, unbeaten, on his own terms, as the champion.
Funny thing is Dorian is the only one that saw Ronnie coming in his last year of competition. Every one has their time. What makes Dorian exceptional to me is not just his physique but his mind. He was a punker skinhead and a hooligan found something to transform himself with and through sheer willpower did just that.
Dorian Yates, a colossus in the pantheon of bodybuilding, redefined the very ethos of muscular perfection with his unparalleled work ethic and an almost mythical dedication to his craft. Emerging from the gritty backdrop of Birmingham, England, Yates was not forged in the glitzy gyms of America but in the shadows of Temple Gym, a subterranean forge where he sculpted a physique that would forever alter the landscape of bodybuilding. His training, known for its brutal intensity and unwavering discipline, was not just a routine but a relentless crusade against his own limits. Yates' physique, a breathtaking amalgamation of size, symmetry, and conditioning, was nothing short of a masterpiece, etched with the sweat of a Spartan regimen. Each muscle, carved with Herculean effort, spoke of a man who transcended the ordinary, embodying the spirit of a warrior in the pursuit of physical greatness. Dorian Yates wasn't just a bodybuilder; he was a force of nature, a testament to the extraordinary feats human will and flesh can achieve, leaving an indelible mark as the greatest to ever grace the stage.
2:28 when he yells it ain’t like that juicehead yell you see in the gym. That yell is saying he’s in the zone and literally embracing all the pain. That’s some moving shit.
Dorian touched on a very important subject, that everyone wants instant gratification these days and not really work hard for it. Nowadays it's really easy to not only use certain platforms to get attention but to get heavily addicted to it. This approval seeking bahavior is being refered to as being needy, which is a trait that's been very much linket to us millennials. Bodybuilding can be great to do in several ways, but like other sports, it can backfire if you only do it to get validation and attention. One would be wise to have more reasons to lift weights and have other values in life to balance things out and not be in your own buble all the time. Then bodybuilding can be a healthy part of your lifestyle but not be your whole life.
I couldn't have agreed more, that desire to improve YOURSELF is something that i know i am trying to perfect early on so i can focus on the more essential parts of bodybuilding. And to add to the discussion, right now i think its hard to not seek that virtual validation being that allot of our social interactions have been moved to the internet. From my experience i was so lost in being busy and training that it hadn't occurred to me that i enjoyed those physical interactions with people. i think allot of use took even simple hellos and being in others presence for granted.
Taking nothing away from Dorian but I have to wonder how much better he was because of his training partner. With a guy like that by your side you couldn’t help but improve.
One thing I learned from a Champion superbike rider was this: In life, you will not often be given positive circumstances. Instead, you will face adversity. A Champion can use that negative and turn it into a positive.
