Used to be my job. Edit: regarding the phone, it’s more of a little tablet that hooks up to the radios wirelessly has mapping and you can send digital fire missions from it’s actually a smaller electronic signature than sending the same mission via voice. Doesn’t run on the cellular network so it’s harder to DF than a phone About half the time we would spend attached to recon or snipers(when seconded to brigade on larger exercises mainly to engage priority targets) the other half with a line company. Either as a team or more often broken down into pairs or even as an individual to augment a recon patrol on the odd occasion. But I suppose this varies depending on the relationship you have with the unit you support. If you get along with your company/ battalion you regularly work with and build that trust. Some joint fires teams also work with armor regularly so you can substitute company for a squadron. Most commonly in an armored context we wouldn’t have a dedicated vehicle and would get split up amongst the troops as individuals. I would say cav didnt get the most of us but they seemed to think arty and fast air was no match for 25mm Our packs were heavy radios and targeting equipment and batteries out the arse and three days sustainment it all adds up When with a line company we’d get broken down as needed for a given task.

hey Cas i am currently in year 9 and am inspired by your videos to join the Australian Army. I am a female but i am motivated to put in the work and i love how you expect us to keep the same level of expectation as our male counterparts, i agree with this 100% as i try to do this with whatever i do especially with sports as i play in a team of guys for soccer. Your videos really help me as i find it difficult to find videos like yours, amazing work keep it up! i do have one question however, i have done some research and i was looking into jobs within the Australian army and i originally wanted to join the infantry as i am inspired and motivated with what they do so i was just wondering if i keep up the motivation and hard work physically if the genetic disadvantage physically would become an issue. So i guess my question is should i join the infantry or another job in the Australian army. Love your Vids
I wonder why it changed and reduced for 24 years no one ever brought up we need to carry less ammo I wonder if there was a reason or was it like 5 minute abbs change for the sake of change
Hey mate armoured CORP’s is very physical even though they are mobile for example loader, crew and driver as well as commander have to do all the roles I honestly prefer no females in combat corps but I’ve also never worked inside a tank or the ins and outs of doing it on the daily.. What is your main reason driving you? Do you have other choices and this is just one? Can you pass combat BFA and promise not to nag the other tank crew lol
thanks Cas i was just looking through the recruiting page and thought being involved with the tanks looked appealing as a career, but wanted to get your opinion on this one. safe to say currently i might need to improve a bit to not drop the fitness standards for combat. Still interested in army and other jobs. as for nagging nah probably wouldn't @@inthetrencheswithcas1762

No combat wet weathers but an umbrella??? Can still use a folded coat as an umbrella. Improvisation i guess, in nz open country shit weather can save peoples lives as hypothermia will kick in. Ww can be essential
Mate, your right in regards to what you say about the weather in NZ as opposed to most of Australia but you cant patrol in wet weather gear regardless due to the over heating etc I have done two exchanges in winter in the south island, west coast and tekapo and although I suffered both time i didn't ever wear a rain coat. An umbrella at the stationary harbour yep did that and also at non tactical activities or during night orders etc. Beautiful country but a torture chamber for the elements. Kura takahi Puni
Geez in my day we wouldn’t even think of carrying a gas cooker! Hexie, or eat cold! And as a signaller in an infantry patrol (the old type of patrol with scouts, a rifle group, MG group. Plus golf bag for the 77 set & spare battery. We only ever carried two water bottles, 60 rounds of 7.62, rations were always cans and we would chuck out all the ancillary crap. And we didn’t wear body armour or helmets. And it wasn’t for 72 hours and we didn’t have all the tech
So much gear.... A thumbnail size piece of C4/PE4 will boil a canteen of water really quickly. Plastic explosive is perfectly safe without a detonator, light it and it just burns clean and very hot. Funny how you're not really allowed to because of 'safety'.... too dangerous to carry some PE even though by itself it's harmless as playdough.... but you can carry grenades, HE 40mm, M72's etc etc
Shit mate try do a couple days in the bush here in NZ without a wet weather jacket - if it rains on day one you’re fucked.
