This is probably the most reasonable assessment of the game I have seen. Cyberpunk is frequently janky, beautiful, repetitive and overambitious, but Night City is a work of art and I have to give credit to the developers for their acheivements. Sorry to hear about your sister. Keep up the good work.
@@chriscarelli4643 I like the game as it is, but if you haven't played it yet, waiting for the 1.7 patch and/or a sale price would be my recommendation.
@@chriscarelli4643 each to their own opinion, but I played it for the first time just after 1.6 hit, and it was amazing. The most invested I've been in a game, story and characters in a long long time.
I played it the month of release and after beating it I haven't played it since. I thought the game was pretty mediocre and some stuff didn't make sense (like the clothing giving you stat increases). By the end of the game you look like a hobo wearing 4 different kinds of mismatched clothing. Good thing you got those jean shorts that give you big stat boosts lol
I have over 800 hours in this game, multiple builds for each of the storylines. I don't think I could have said it better myself. It's a great game with a lot of fundamental issues. Still super enjoyable if you are a Cyberpunk fan. I lost my sister to suicide a few years ago, I know how it disrupts a person's life. It never quite goes away either.
I played for 120 hours and regretted it. I wish this was a real RPG Cyberpunk experience. The bugs turned the serious nature of the world into a circus attraction to be laughed at.
@@emceeunderdogrising I don't regret my 140 hours. Rebecca's shotgun "Guts" added in the Edgerunner's update made the game infinitely more fun for me and my shotgun build....purely because you can rocket jump with it!!! Like, REALLY fucking high too! it's so busted and hilarious to launch yourself into the air at enemies, before blasting them with another massive shotgun blast where every pellet is a crit. I think playing on the highest difficulty made the game much better, too
800h then 1400h to the guy above me? Really the path traced lighting with the RT overdrive update is what made me get it on sale. It’s still buggy, the vehicle feel like their skating … but the mocap and voice acting was really good though. If only the NPCs had better AI, even GTAV from 2013 has better AI.
Hope it's okay to say this considering the heartbreaking intro of the video but I started laughing my ass off when you started listing the bugs near the end. The deadpan way you delivered those lines was incredible. I always enjoy your videos very much and hope that you enjoy making them, despite the hardships in life. I wish you and your family all the best.
Remember it's to talk about grief. My mom died when I was 21. I was deployed 2 months later on an open deployment. I didn't handle it well because if you seek counseling in the military you are on the "do not arm list." Focus on the good times you had together. Appreciate the time you have with the ones you love. Celebrate life.
so sorry for your loss... Thanks for taking the time to make such a well done retrospective/review on the game. You voiced so many of the issues I've had. I keep picking up the game, playing it for a 5hrs and then moving on to something else only to come back to it a month later. I want to love it. The world, the aesthetic, its like one of my dream games and its just frustrating that it came out the way it did. Some of these issues just cant be resolved through patches. It's the fundamentals of the game design itself and thats disappointing... Heres to hoping they learn from their mistakes and make a better sequel
Sorry to hear about your sister, it must be tough going through that and the fact that you continue to make content despite all thats going on is pretty inspiring. Hope you are doing ok.
love CDPR for what they did with the lore and story telling. Played all witcher games to cyberpunk. I too honestly feel like the game is too short in term of main quest.
@@suorsodavit7421 I never get when people complained about the length of Witcher 3. I wish Cyberpunk's main story was spread out as well and not so rushed.
You're gonna have to attempt on replaying Cyberpunk again after Phantom Liberty releases, according to the ones that played the demo during the tour CDPR did - Cyberpunk 1.63 and Cyberpunk 2.0 are two completely different games.
The Peralez quests are amazing, i felt so powerless to help them and i really felt for Jefferson. On the first time, i thought that his wife was behind it all, but the ending was so sad, maybe even more so with how determined Jeff was to fight back.
Really refreshing review with a surprisingly objective assessment of the current Cyberpunk 2077 situation. There was almost no discernible bias, no unnecessary embellishment or unwarranted downtalking. Hope to see more coverage on Cyberpunk 2077 in June with the next update and Phantom Liberty!
@@BlameItOnTheLagTTV is not. I LOVE it, but it has issues. Let's see what Phantom Liberty does for the core game. Only then it will be a complete experience.
This was maybe the best cyberpunk review imo. You gave a fair and balanced take and your commentary during the bug reel at the end made me laugh a couple times. Also you addressed the narrative problems of the game well, which i personally think were very important but a lot of the videos ive seen either missed or glossed over them.
Eh, this is why I'm not an immersion gamer. I'm already immersed in my life, sometimes you just want to decompress with an ever expanding slider or watch a mission list get shorter.
This wasn't a mess at all and you had me laughing out loud several times! Keep up the good work! 😊 Also, may your sister rest in peace ... and your pain turn from anguish to serenity and loving memories in your heart!
I liked this video. There was a natural flow between each section and the sections individually were very coherent. It also helps that you have a nice voice so keep it up. :D
First my condolences, losing someone is hard and happens far too often. May she rest in peace. Second I never saw a single trailer or the teasers before launch. I was informed the week of and bought the game on a whim. It’s my single favorite story based game I’ve ever played. I played the Witcher 3 later on but even then I never felt that same feeling of wonder that night City gave me. It was almost like the flaws made the game feel more humanized and such I cared about it more. (Long winded way to say coping hard)
I completely get you! I have the same feeling about Skyrim. The game is great... in 2011. And don't get me wrong, it holds up in some aspects, mostly to do with the world and immersion. But objectively speaking the game is a mess. The story is lackluster, the gameplay- simple and very meh without mods, and the bugs... I don't have anything to add about the bugs. But even with all that, Skyrim is my favourite game of all time! There is just nothing that has come close to the experience that IS SKYRIM for me. Elden Ring almost came close, but it was just too good and polished of a game to have that certain charm. I ahven't played cyberpunk yet, as I just don't have the hardware to run the damn thing, plus I wanted to wait until they polish it and release the DLC. But even while watching people bash the game, from the gameplay and story moments I have seen, I understand the peoples hate for the unfulfilled promise, but i don't share it. And this is coming from someone who pre-ordered the damn thing! (first and last time). In short, I think I'll like cyberpunk 2077, when I'll get to play it. It is simply a ''human'' game, if that makes sense.
@@ColaDad Skyrim even was worse in a way because the community had to patch most of the big problems with mods lol I think they got away with it more because of the sandbox nature of the game so it was like “oh Skyrim being Skyrim again” When you fell through the floor or the carriage doesn’t even make it to helgen at the beginning lol. Yeah just wait for phantom liberty and play on Ps5 at the bare minimum or else you’re really doing yourself a disservice imo.
@@jaxonadelgren7561 Exactly! Skyrim was and still is a mess. But it still stays as my favourite game of all time. Its like a dumbass friend who is just incredibly charismatic. Also, Im planning to play it on PC, but stillhave to get one that can fight GOD!
Same. Zero hype, just found out about the game 2 months before release. I waited one year till its patched, and its my favorite single player game (played witcher 3, rdr2, skyrim). Just the characters, and feeling you get is unmatched.
20:55 Fixer gigs should not have been tied to locations (except a few at the beginning) but to V's reputation, with more fixers reaching out to V regardless of location the more gigs you successfully complete. It would have made perfect sense for fixers to actively seek out V if you've built enough of a reputation.

I am sorry to hear about your sister's passing. I hope you and your family are as okay as one can be. I know that this flies in the face of this video but I would absolutely watch any Cyberpunk content you put on the channel. I would happily see you dive into CP in the same in depth way you have with the Witcher: best quests, what would V(based on backstory) do, highlights et cetera. All the best,
First of all my condolences. Second, I really think CP2077 has some of the best written and most believable characters in any game. The gameplay is fun but I would trade like 50% of the gigs and lots of the scanner hustles for a few more missions with Jackie, Dexter, Judy, Panam, Kerry, Johnny etc.
The gigs and the ncpd scanners are so underrated because most people do not read the shards or the computer conversations in them. When you realize that so many of the characters mentioned in those shards and computer convos can be met in the game and that they're connected, the sense of reward is great because it adds a lot to the world building of the game and makes night city so much more alive. But I would have loved more missions with the main characters of course, although the ones we got, especially with panam were pretty long.
I don't agree with the characters, for example Jackie, his contents is really small and his personality one dimentional. You have a few scripted scenes and when it's in gameplay he is really a pain in the ass, blowing your cover, shouting like an idiot and not doing anything interesting. We love him at first but after a while i was happy that he was dead and just a good memory. Same with Johnny, he quickly becomes annoying with his mind locked in an Arasaka hatred. And the worst V, they wanted to make V as neutral as possible so everybody can have his V but in this way he or she is just a nobody, no past, no future and a shitty life being a dirty mercenary in a pile of crap. Maybe it's why they want him dead so he cannot come back in the future! Just compare with TW3 characters and it's just another world, it's hard to believe that the same people made the two games or maybe they were not the same, without the helps of The witcher books and background they just showed that they could not create a good working world.
@@kukipett imo Jackie is one of the best written characters in the game because, while he's not that complex he doesnt have to be and shouldnt be, he's just a regular dude just another merc and ex-gangbanger nothing special and that's what he's supposed to be and even if they wanted to make him super complex(which they shouldnt) they didnt havev the time. Despite this he's not one-note, he still feels like a full, developed person with all his own intricacies and his own personality and character he feels *real* like someone you could get to know irl and befriend despite his character not being super special or complex. And on top of all this the writers were able to get the players to *love* him in the short time we had with him and really feel V's connection and friendship and closeness to him, and they were able to make him dying feel like a fucking shot. We probably dont even have 30 full minutes of dialogue with him and i fucking *cried* at his ofrenda and felt his loss.
What we really need is this game treatment on Shadowrun. That way, you'd have fantasy races, a *real* feeling of being a techno-merc, and the whole matrix to play with. The problem with cyberpunk is that its supposed to be future fantasy. But with locust-pepperoni, the rise of AI and how our government/corporations are acting, Cyberpunk feels more like '2 weeks from now' than 'in the future.'
I agree with most of what you say, though I think considering we know the game must have been extremely rushed to come out the way it did in 2020, I would not complain about things like the shards exposition dump or the way the game handles time. I always put what the studio went through into consideration and just never complain about such things. If they had enough time to work on the game and it came out bug free, then that would be something to complain about. But since we know they literally didn't have time, they did what they did. It's similar to how I will always say the Radovid assassination quest in Witcher 3 was definitely dumb but something I wouldn't complain about at all because I know there was very little they could do with the time they didn't have.
the fact that this is your first attempt at a review like this just makes it even more impressive. fantastic video, i really enjoyed it and ill definitely be watching out for more of your content in the future
Honestly I think one of my biggest problems with cyber punk is the way the story begins. You start off w an intro mission and then get shown a clips of your character and Jackie going around and completing jobs. It’s only after this that you get to start playing. I really don’t understand why they would make the most fun part of the game unplayable. It makes no sense. I 100% expected to come to night city and learn the ways of the people there, but all we got was an intro clip and a car. To add onto this, why does V not have any upgrades after all that time working with Jackie? It’s not like it’s a new technology…. Did Jackie never show V about upgrades until later on??? It’s very confusing that our character is apparently now familiar with the city, but we as a player still have no idea wtf is going on. When you play a game that is heavily story driven and played from your character perspective, I feel like I should be thinking the same things as my character. That intro video was so immersion breaking and disappointing. I remember first watching that cutscene and I just sat there dumbfounded. Like “why am I not playing, experiencing this with my character?” It’s one of the main reasons I can’t play the game. I feel like being able to play the very beginning of our journey in night city would be much better than delivering a guy with a faulty Dick implant (yes that’s a real mission)
my condolences for your sister. my own brother was lost by murder last christmas and i can't say i can even articulate how the loss has wreaked havoc on my life. I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone, and i'm impressed you pushed through this review while still trying to heal.
As someone who's been holding off buying this, this was exactly what i was looking for. Thanks for being one of very few people who actually address immersion and the ai
as someone that played it like a year after launch I can tell you that it was one of the most captivating games I played through due to the supreme atmosphere both through music which I still listen to and the stories the main story was a very emotional in many places, essentially a tale about how to deal with the unavoidable death it sure doesn't hold up for several playthroughs if you expect some very different choices
There a lot of things you have to ignore head wise to play this game 😂. But man driving through nightcity is an experience to say the least. Turn off the hud and just enjoy the ride.
As someone who played Cyberpunk multiple times now, you'll never play the game CDPR promised, but you can still play a good game if you're able to forget what this could've been and take it by what it is. If you're able to have fun playing Deus Ex Human Revolution today, you're also able to play Cyberpunk, no problem. They're not that much different in therms of immersion.
@@brunobotelho4502 well I actually played both the new deus ex back to back and I gotta say CP is way better in terms of story, as in stuff that was set up gets actually resolved DE HR didn't even really have a finally (think they had to cancel further levels due to development time)
My biggest issues with the game is dumb NPCs and bad physics, both driving and for example when someone falls from a huge height. they fall like a paper towel
I'm a dude who just binge watches reviews for things I've already played/watched and out of the probably 10 reviews I've seen on Cyberpunk, this is by far the most honest, and in-depth review I've seen. Instantly Subscribed! Keep it up my man!
The fast travel system drives me absolutely nuts, I get they want you to explore the city but after 50 or 60 hours just trying to finish up it makes the job tedious having to search out fast travel points when you just wanna zip around the map
you need to play CP77 again after the expansion in 2 months... all the core mechanic changes will be worth it! Personally I have been waiting all this time since release to play it, which the expansion will make it worth it
I love people with honest opinions and who aren’t afraid to share them - this is the best review I’ve seen of this game, I look forward to some point down the line when I feel this game is worth investing in and really value the obvious amount of heartfelt hard work that went into this; I was literally stunned by what you said at the beginning and I still don’t know how to express myself about it so all I can say is thank you for the video and best wishes ❤
When I did the Johny Silverhand missions, I forgot V was dying. They would pop pills and swap bodies like yugioh. It was hard to believe V was dying. To top it off, there's a lot of things in universe that CAN save V. Biotechnica can clone him a new body. What about full borg conversion to a new body? The story just stops.
The story should have been way longer and then like maybe 70 or 80 percent through the game V is flatlined and then the biochip should have started killing him i think that makes way more sense
To the point of Cyberpunk's main quest putting the player on a tight schedule and immersion breaking as you take your time with the side content, I really felt that when playing the game as well. Contrast that to the Witcher III where Geralt searching every inch of the world makes perfect sense as his main objective is to find Ciri who could be anywhere. I've always thought that the found the golden goose in making the main quest of an open world game "search the entire world". Another thing that bothered me a ton while playing cyberpunk was how you get to customize your character in any physical manner imaginable, even choose their backstory, but the game still forces V's personality/morality on the player. When walking around the map, I would often feel the only way to not commit at least quadrouple homicide at every street corner was to purposefully avoid engaging in the games marked content, in other words to not play the game. I wish I would have had the freedom to not play an almost indiscriminantly killing V given the game pretends to put the character of V in the players hands. It also doesn't seem right that there are seemingly no repercussions for killing anywhere from 30 to 70 gang members in a given in game day, but I guess the underworld bosses just can't be bothered.
Well you can commit suicide, and I would have chosen that ending but decided to go the Panam way Also the questing makes sense because you are a merc, you need to live and the City doesn't care, you need to do the jobs It didn't make much sense in Witcher 3 either, because you needed to do lots of activities rather than finding Ciri (not even talking Gwent) but that's the nature of a working life
wow, Time used to be something CDPR used to pay a shit load of attention to, at least in the witcher 3, with that quest of the women who only had 7 years to live, because if you advance time 7 years later, she finally dies in this one location. but now they are going from someone just died to the other person hearing about it seconds later without any reason that makes any sense.
Just finished my first play-through, took me a bit to get into it, I agree with pretty much all you said, I finished dealing with Takemura on a quest and had him call me like 5 seconds later from across town. wtf? I had fewer visual bugs than you did. Only drove bikes because they handled halfway decent, cars were a gong-show. People in the city were boring, cops were dumb. Overall though once I got sucked in, I got sucked in.
Personally, I'm glad you mentioned the fact that it failed to keep its promises, including the lack of meaningful choices (at least to the extent we were meant to have them). Few reviewers, mostly the ones who are either positive or mixed, ever acknowledge that. I hope you're doing well after the loss of your sister, by the way. I'm a latecomer here but, still, you have my condolances.
I think due to random choices I didn’t hit as many ridiculous time errors but although Pan Am was undoubtedly well realised, I found her to be a super-annoying rage-aholic and although I was as impressed as anyone when I first found her bent over her engine bay, I believed a lot of love for Pan Am was possibly just because she’s so physically gorgeous. But to me she’s always just an aggro raging yelly monster. An idiot.
it's a good game. But i'm tired of everyone saying it's a masterpiece. Night city is very beautiful to drive around. But I always find myself looking for a good song on the radio, it has too many shit ones.
The video overall was very well thought out, and presented coherently. I would definitely love to see more of this type of content from you. BTW: The bike seeking a future free from NC had me rolling!
all the "side quests are really the main quests" thing comes simply because everyone loved the witcher 3 side stuff. I thnk the degrading biochip is the downfall of the story. It gives you an in game time limit to a game that shouldnt have one. The side quests should have just been main story stuff given how much they flesh out EVERYTHING within that game world.
My sincere condolences, a late farewell to your sister. "I read all of them because I can't help myself..." I must be afflicted too. It also explains the ridiculous amount of lore knowledge I amass in only a few days while others blast through the story completely oblivious for whatever is going on.
I didn't do a lot of side content as I got bored of it, and mostly focused on the main story and the most important characters (like Panam). So I also want to replay it some time. But as one of my biggest disappointment was the driving and the police system, I'll wait until that is improved. The DLC looks to be very linear, more like an action shooter than an RPG, so not sure how interested I am in that. But as there are some amazing (hopefully) new RPGs coming out very soon, I'm in no rush to get back into Cyberpunk.
very true, i completely agree with your criticisms and praises. The games redemption has been exaggerated a lot and still has issues. I was kinda hoping for another update that would get me to replay it again. (also trophies are glitched so i cant 100%)
I too abandonned Night City shortly after the game released, later in the story tho. I also fully agree with your statement on the supposed "redemption ark". Hell no. They fixed some technical issues. Cool. FFXIV and No Man´s Sky, those game had redemption arks. Not this one, not in the slightest. However.. when I played through Cyberpunk last year with a bit different mindset, I actually had really good time. It was not the game we were promised, not at all but starting the game knowing that I am not playing the game I was waiting for, for 10 years, it allowed me to immerse myself into V much more. And in the end it actually gave me that satysfying, emotional conclusion that I hoped for. Combining Judy romance and Aldecaldos ending was.. bittersweet.
The argument that they designed this game with over direction with the intent of helping younger players sickens me. This is not a game for children as it has a tremendous amount of adult material.
Pacing is always a huge problem with this kind of urgency based narrative in an open world setting. There's always a certain amount of conflict between the story and side quests/gigs, but in this case, the main story basically discourages you from doing any side stuff if you want to keep immersion. Especially since almost none of them are connected to the main story or important characters or rely on V to go out of their way to help random people just because they asked nicely. They did a better job with Phantom Liberty and Mr. Hand's gigs by giving you a reason to earn his trust in order for him to help V later in the story. His gigs were also A LOT better and more complex than those in the base game. I hope they stick with this style of side gigs for Orion, even if it means we get fewer gigs in total. I'd rather play just a handful of PL style gigs per fixer than 15+ glorified Ubisoft quests
This was a really solid and honest cover of the revamped game! You said exactly how I felt after I played. Also keep up the Witcher content, I currently think you are the best at doing Witcher coverage. Sorry about your loss man, hope all is good.
Tip: After you clear each cyber psycho quest and the fixer wires u the money and says thx, you can execute the psycho for a huge ammount of XP, and then later the fixer messages you and thanks you for saving all thier lives.
I appreciate all your input and critique of this game and am very sorry to hear of your loss. I've never had a direct loved one pass away so I can't say I know what that feels like but I'm happy to see how successful your passion for The Witcher and your hard work has made your channel, and I'm sure she would be as well.
I'm hopeful that the "reboot" that's coming with the Phantom Liberty expansion really brings the game at least considerably closer to that CDPR initially promised.
First of all, my condolences. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you're coping well. This was such a refreshing review! It felt so honest and I thank you for your hard work in making such great content. I've myself shelved Cyberpunk for a while, hoping the bugs will be resolved before playing the game and I still haven't picked it back up. Maybe this is the kick in the pants I needed :)
instead of three weeks they should have given V either a year or 6 months. That would have solved alot of issues with the pacing and immersion. Lmao it's not that immersive where I only have three weeks to live but I decide to go racing with Claire or eat with River and his family like everything is fine. And they should have made a few side quests be main quests like the Rogue ones and maybe even Kerry's ones. Basically every side quest related to Johnny should have been in the main quest. If you choose to ignore the side quests you literally finish the game in a couple of hours which is so stupid. I dont agree with the small side missions though, I think that having them in the map made more sense because sometimes I dont really wanna explore for hours to find these small quests or have to search on the internet to find them so while I agree that it sometimes make these small interactions less memorable its much better than not coming across them at all in your game just because you didnt visit this random store. I do agree with most points in your video though. The way Witcher 3 made the contracts was much better than the way CP did the gigs even though they werent that terrible. My condolences to your sister aswell.
I hope you're doing okay, and you're able to enjoy good memories of your sister. We're always happy to see your content, whenever and on whatever you decide to make it.
This and Dying Light 2's point of no return were shocks to me. Both games felt like I would be about halfway through at most yet the end was right there. Felt like they should have had an extra 10-20 hours of story and even more side gameplay
All the condolences in the world man. Though it threw your life off track for a while (as is expected), I'm glad to see you've still been making strides in your content and your life. All the love to you and your family, be good to yourself.
Quite a fair review. I didn't play the game at release so i missed most of the most hilarious bugs but a year ago i had my share. I'm very forgiving in this matter, it doesn't break my immersion that much (well... one did), but the game still lacks soooooooooo many things we were promised. This will never be fixed, obviously and just because of all those missing aspects of the game i am and always will be upset about CP77. In a manner of speaking. * The bug that pissed me off - remember the side quest when you, ehm.. crucify the guy? Game forget to render a hammer for me which made me really mad at the time:)
Well now the modders can take over for free and make it into what they promised. I bet they’re gearing to takeover once CDPR abandon the unfinished game. The graveyard now has another dead project to bury.
@@johnathonmattingly9303 The mods are great, agree. But they won't bring to the game what was promised and not delivered. They only make me suffer less:)
@@Nienormalny Right. CDPR is delivering only one expansion and then the game will be handed off to the modding community & then next year we’ll get kotaku article “Meet the People Keeping Cyberpunk 2077 Alive After CDPR abandoned for Project Orion.”
I played cp2077 at launch and to date, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. Plus, there are a number of things promised pre-launch that never transpired. I do enjoy it, but it's nowhere near Witcher 3 level.
In hindsight, I see alot of the same holes and corner cutting in Witcher 3 but it still seems like a mirror to this over polished turd. I think they laid off too much of their talent.
As a Cyberpunk fan who has been playing for almost 40 years, (Yes, this IP has many decades of lore); CDPR brought the world to life and did a great job of using the established decades of lore. However, the video game is very light compared to the tabletop rules. Your character can die in the ttrpg during character generation. It is a much more brutal world and situation than the video game lets on. There was (obviously) a lot more lore and content that was left out. I would have loved to have been able to work for more fixers woth variety to the jobs. However, most of the people playing 2077 or watching Edgerunners have no clue about the ttrpg and won't even engage with it. I am not sure where CDPR will take their version of the IP but I hope they continue to integrate more of the ttrpg in as R Talsorian Games is releasing a 2077 Sourcebook this year.
Love this post. I waited to play this after the initial reviews were so bad. I picked this up on ps5 a couple months ago and am finding the game/world to be extremely enjoyable.
2:45 That also suprised me, the point of no return comes too quick. Of course I could get some bad endings but to get the good ones I had to do some more side missions. And after every side mission the " Meet Hanako at Embers" popped up again teasing me to " finsh" the story...
i think the whole thing of the game not locking you into a few weeks is a weird point its a game of course they wont lock you into 2 weeks to finish it or a certain amount of hours before it locks the save or something if you havent completed it. its a game some stuff will be done for players experience that's like saying cods respawn is dumb you should get 1 life and booted out the game to main menu. i get its " immersion breaking" but how else is a story ment to be told just rush it down be done in 4 hours play time ? seems like a waste for more "immersion"
Ah man, it's heartbreaking to hear that, hope you're doing better as time goes on mate, I'm glad you've got such a supportive community behind you as well
You've earned yourself a subscriber. This was a very well-put-together video, and as someone who loves the game and the world, and might even have it as one of my favorites at this point in time, I'd say you put words to the same feelings I have towards the game in a really great way, isolated from the current exaggerated takes from both sides of praise and criticism.
I could go on and on about this game, with all its faults and great achievements. However I’m simply going to call it a flawed masterpiece. And I know that many may not agree, but this game really did change me, there are so many fun side quests I played mixing in quite a bit of those between my main quests and had a great time.
Very good video. I appreciate and agree with most of your analysis of the vanilla game here. I never played it much tbh, bc like I do with most games, I quickly saw the things I didn't like and modded them. There's a limit ofc but between scissors, djkovric, rmk, e3rok, and many others, most of the issues you have with gameplay at least are made much better through mods. Game Time Tweaks for 1:1 timescale fixes the ticking clock aspect. Scissors Difficulty Options and Vehicle Combat mods make enemies and combat much more interesting. Daemon Netrunning, Better Netrunning, and No Scanner Time Dilation can make hacking builds much more challenging and fun. There are even some options to improve and expand romances with Judy, Panam, etc. that really add depth to that aspect. IMHO modding is such standard practice these days that it's silly to ignore it, especially when it's intended and supported by the game devs.
whoa that intro threw me off balance, wasn't expecting that at all. Sorry for your loss brother, the internet can be a cruel place to open up and i'm very familiar with death myself to the point where i know no matter how convincingly we say to ourselves that "this is just the way life is and i'm fine with it" we don't really do away with the loneliness and regrets and what ifs in some distraught moments where we remember the love it was to be around the people that died and left us behind.
I haven't played the game yet but I was looking forward to it. The issues you bring up about the narrative would likely really bother me. Is there any chance you think they might address it in the Phantom Liberty update? Apparently it's making some significant changes to the game as a whole.
Excellent review. Very reasonable and unbiased. I fully agree on most of your points, and I'm happy to point out that several of the problems you mentioned will get fixed by CDPR. Not just police and vehicle, but there's gonna be things like a new melee system, more world interactivity, enemy netrunners, etc. I love Cyberpunk much for the same reasons as you, but also because I recognize the incredible potential this game has. Whether it lives up to that potential with Patch 1.7 and Phantom Liberty remains to be seen.
I love the comparison of gigs and the witcher 3 contracts, it makes me really want to try witcher 3 since CDPR really won me over with the world of cyberpunk but I struggle with the fantasy setting. Liked your analysis a lot and its pretty in line with how I feel about the game.
"This one time I got in my car only to find Panam lodged in the dash. She must have been comfortable, because we then had a lengthy conversation." I'm not gonna lie this broke me for ten minutes
My condolences may she rest in peace
Well said sir. Best wishes to you and your family!
My condolences as well
I wonder what she died of....
🙏🙏🙏
@@R0C4I sorry to hear that
This is probably the most reasonable assessment of the game I have seen. Cyberpunk is frequently janky, beautiful, repetitive and overambitious, but Night City is a work of art and I have to give credit to the developers for their acheivements. Sorry to hear about your sister. Keep up the good work.
Is it worth buying as of now?
@@chriscarelli4643 I like the game as it is, but if you haven't played it yet, waiting for the 1.7 patch and/or a sale price would be my recommendation.
@@chriscarelli4643 hell no
@@chriscarelli4643 each to their own opinion, but I played it for the first time just after 1.6 hit, and it was amazing.
Losing a relative is such a punch in the gut, super sorry to hear it.
Sorry for your loss
800 hours man, I couldn't.
If only the NPCs had better AI, even GTAV from 2013 has better AI.
sorry to hear about your sister, hope you're doing okay.
I'm so sorry to hear about your sister, I'm impressed that you actually came back to to it so quickly. This was such a great video thank you.
The point of no return really felt like it came way too quickly. Even when I did most sidequests.
Hopefully the DLC will help with that.
love CDPR for what they did with the lore and story telling. Played all witcher games to cyberpunk. I too honestly feel like the game is too short in term of main quest.
@@suorsodavit7421 I never get when people complained about the length of Witcher 3. I wish Cyberpunk's main story was spread out as well and not so rushed.
I spent about 60hrs before I hit the point of no return
I understand it without the side missions, but not so much with the side missions
@@remyrotten Takemura still waiting for me at the diner after 80 hours 🤣
You're gonna have to attempt on replaying Cyberpunk again after Phantom Liberty releases, according to the ones that played the demo during the tour CDPR did - Cyberpunk 1.63 and Cyberpunk 2.0 are two completely different games.
Her soul may rest in peace brother🖤
The Peralez quests are amazing, i felt so powerless to help them and i really felt for Jefferson.
On the first time, i thought that his wife was behind it all, but the ending was so sad, maybe even more so with how determined Jeff was to fight back.
Really refreshing review with a surprisingly objective assessment of the current Cyberpunk 2077 situation. There was almost no discernible bias, no unnecessary embellishment or unwarranted downtalking. Hope to see more coverage on Cyberpunk 2077 in June with the next update and Phantom Liberty!
Is PL releasing in June?
@@StefanConstantinDumitrache marketing starts in June. No release date confirmed yet
@@guru5890 ah, I see. I thought I missed some announcement, but now I remember.
I feel like having to give this game multiple chances is bias in of itself, but oh well.
Love your channel/content bud 🤙
My condolences as well.
I keep restarting, getting ten hours in and never touching it again. I don't know why I can't get into it cause I really tried but oh well.
To be fair, if you score three headshots with the crossbow on a Drowner you deserve a reward.
Eh, this is why I'm not an immersion gamer. I'm already immersed in my life, sometimes you just want to decompress with an ever expanding slider or watch a mission list get shorter.
This wasn't a mess at all and you had me laughing out loud several times! Keep up the good work! 😊
Also, may your sister rest in peace ... and your pain turn from anguish to serenity and loving memories in your heart!
They realy did panam dirty with the one of the dlc ending the "good" ending.... Broke my heart :D:D
I liked this video. There was a natural flow between each section and the sections individually were very coherent. It also helps that you have a nice voice so keep it up. :D
Honestly if they had just been more honest with the promotional stuff leading to launch, i feel like the game would have been much better received.
@@ColaDad Skyrim even was worse in a way because the community had to patch most of the big problems with mods lol I think they got away with it more because of the sandbox nature of the game so it was like “oh Skyrim being Skyrim again”
When you fell through the floor or the carriage doesn’t even make it to helgen at the beginning lol.
I share exactly your thoughts. Cyberpunk has left an everlasting stain in my mind. I've never fallen in love with a game so hard
All the best,
It's been 2 years and Hanako is still waiting at Embers, I haven't even completed this game yet.
@@Volyren i think you missed the entire point of cyberpunk as a genre if thats your complaint.
The short main story is my main complaint. Ironically the shortness of the main story is the reason why I haven't finished the game yet
I know I'm a month late but , rest her beautiful soul brother.
I lost my sister in 2014 so I feel the pain of your tragedy. My condolences to you and your family. Love your content.
my condolences for your sister. my own brother was lost by murder last christmas and i can't say i can even articulate how the loss has wreaked havoc on my life. I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone, and i'm impressed you pushed through this review while still trying to heal.
As someone who's been holding off buying this, this was exactly what i was looking for. Thanks for being one of very few people who actually address immersion and the ai
As someone who played it on launch, I always doubted the glaring issues were even fixable. The whole game just isn't so much fun.
as someone that played it like a year after launch I can tell you that it was one of the most captivating games I played through due to the supreme atmosphere both through music which I still listen to and the stories
the main story was a very emotional in many places, essentially a tale about how to deal with the unavoidable death
it sure doesn't hold up for several playthroughs if you expect some very different choices
@@brunobotelho4502 well I actually played both the new deus ex back to back and I gotta say CP is way better in terms of story, as in stuff that was set up gets actually resolved
DE HR didn't even really have a finally (think they had to cancel further levels due to development time)
My biggest issues with the game is dumb NPCs and bad physics, both driving and for example when someone falls from a huge height. they fall like a paper towel
My condolences, losing someone is never easy.
you need to play CP77 again after the expansion in 2 months... all the core mechanic changes will be worth it!
Well you can commit suicide, and I would have chosen that ending but decided to go the Panam way
Also the questing makes sense because you are a merc, you need to live and the City doesn't care, you need to do the jobs
It didn't make much sense in Witcher 3 either, because you needed to do lots of activities rather than finding Ciri (not even talking Gwent) but that's the nature of a working life
wow, Time used to be something CDPR used to pay a shit load of attention to, at least in the witcher 3, with that quest of the women who only had 7 years to live, because if you advance time 7 years later, she finally dies in this one location.
but now they are going from someone just died to the other person hearing about it seconds later without any reason that makes any sense.
I'm so sorry about your sister.
Would have been nice of you to wait until the huge update/dlc droped in September considering the amount of things that will change
It's just hard to believe that cyberpunk was made by CDPR, I hope the new witcher gets them back on track
But I always find myself looking for a good song on the radio, it has too many shit ones.
the thing that made the witcher so good is exactly what is missing from cyberpunk, the attention to detail...
It also explains the ridiculous amount of lore knowledge I amass in only a few days while others blast through the story completely oblivious for whatever is going on.
may her soul rest in peace ❤
I hope you will make more videos about cyberpunk i love this game
I'd suggest you to play it again in 2.0 its a whole new experience its on par with the witcher 3 for me now
I too abandonned Night City shortly after the game released, later in the story tho.
This has easily been the best cyberpunk 2077 video i've watched. You really should make these kinds of videos more you have TALENT!!
Maybe this game needs another anime and it’ll be good again according to the internet
Cyberpunk is one of my favorite games, I just wish we had more time to spend with Jackie.
This and Dying Light 2's point of no return were shocks to me. Both games felt like I would be about halfway through at most yet the end was right there. Felt like they should have had an extra 10-20 hours of story and even more side gameplay
CDPR messed up cyberpunk with removing vital content, hence your analysis. Yes the game is a empty shell once al in-game activities are done 😔
Im sorry about your sister may she rest in peace
@@johnathonmattingly9303 Mods don't help much if you're on console.
@@inthemiddleofsomecalibrations Indeed. Everyone always talks about mods as if everyone had access to the game on a PC.
You should try it again in the new update and dlc, combat is getting a revamped to
I played cp2077 at launch and to date, it has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Even Witcher 3 is buggy af, cant wait to see the bug levels of Cyberpunk 2077
I am not sure where CDPR will take their version of the IP but I hope they continue to integrate more of the ttrpg in as R
Talsorian Games is releasing a 2077 Sourcebook this year.
Fantastic and fair coverage/review of the entire Cyberpunk fiasco, well done man. I'd love to see more Cyberpunk related content
My heart goes out to you. I lost my brother 9 years ago, one thing i learned over time, the hurt is what helps remember him. Never forget her.
Our condolences! Thank you for the video!
i think the whole thing of the game not locking you into a few weeks is a weird point its a game of course they wont lock you into 2 weeks to finish it or a certain amount of hours before it locks the save or something if you havent completed it. its a game some stuff will be done for players experience that's like saying cods respawn is dumb you should get 1 life and booted out the game to main menu. i get its " immersion breaking" but how else is a story ment to be told just rush it down be done in 4 hours play time ? seems like a waste for more "immersion"
Excuse my poor english but damn, that line about your sister in the intro hit me like a fucking truck. May she rest in peace.
Thank you! Finally someone pointed this out, the time sensitive things broke the immersion for me as well.
Apparently it's making some significant changes to the game as a whole.
the NCPD not caring about you murdering people seems accurate to how its described in the lore so I'd say that's quite immersive
Trust me you won't regret it, the game starts off slowly but once it sinks its teeth in, its really really fun.
"This one time I got in my car only to find Panam lodged in the dash. She must have been comfortable, because we then had a lengthy conversation." I'm not gonna lie this broke me for ten minutes
