HEDD sends out replacement DSP boards for all affected speakers. Both of my AKM-based early revision Type 07 MK2s died (first died after a year, the second died after another year). The first speaker I sent to the retailer for a replacement, they forwarded it to HEDD, and HEDD replaced the board in the speaker and proactively sent me another board for the second speaker (which hasn't died at that time yet). And after a couple of weeks, the second speaker died, so I replaced its DSP, too, and it works since then (hope it will last).
So I have nothing bad to say about their aftersales support. And yes, I paid for shipping the speaker to Germany, but that's because I did not consult the manufacturer first and sent it to the store. Otherwise HEDD would have sent me just the boards for free.

that's not good that you had to pay to send it in. THEY should pay first or at the very least, they reimburse you for the shipping IF they were defective through not fault of the customer. Now I'm not so sure about getting these. Too bad.

A rarely talked about topic. The MKI seems to be the obvious choice. No DSP. And that’s why you won’t find a MKI pair of any type on Reverb.
