Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I used to work for Silvercup back in the day right up to their bankruptcy and closing. All of the employees were screwed out of two weeks pay without a word of closing.
Wonder bread company was forced by law to fortify their wonder bread with vitamins.Bread made with bleached white flour has very little nutritional value, thus the add was totally deceptive.
I wonder (pun unintended) ... I've not had a loaf of Wonder Bread in probably 40 years ... I feel the need to buy ONE loaf, and just "see" what all the hype is about!
My daddy worked for wonder bread for 20 years he just walked to work everyday because we lived on temple street off trumble in Detroit we ate a lot of wonder products probably why I’m in such bad health today born with many birth defects that went undetected till age 33 when I died 3x n came bk each time n our house was filled w lead paint n asbestos roofing that melted down when the apt building burned next to our house so the side of our home looked like melted wax hanging off it my paw stayed in his temple street home till he past in 97 my momma past age 50 of pancreatic cancer in 99 & then my maw was threatened out of her home by city thugs threatening her life if she didn’t sell the home to the city went on for months things thrown threw her windows threats she’ll be burned out in the mail we got her out in 2000 one day later it was stripped of everything including the chest nut staircase leading to my house upstairs everything was gone lights doors windows etc it was a beautiful house n not a month later the home that was built in 1889 was tore down I have such good memories of Cherokee grandfather there his name was Ed Julian he worked at Cadillac n got cancer took lawsuit money n early retirement I still have his check stubs from Cadillac n my dads Carroll ray street check stubs from winder bread we were so poor tho mom had five kids so anything my dad could get free from wonder bread we ate it n yes wonder bread bags were always on our feet in the winter time I sure do miss cork town I really want to come home!! The home on temple is part of the parking garage now but it will always be the home that built me. Long live Detroit n it’s beautiful people!!
+sevenmarie Sounds a lot like him, but Jones was serving in the Korean War at the time (from a quick look-up; he didn't start his career until 1953), so I think we can rule him out.
It's funny one of the bread is a good bread don't get me wrong but it's funny how they say you want to grow big and strong eat bread the worst thing you really could do cuz it's all wasted calories carbs and starch nowadays they would never advertise that but it's still great bread
Manufactured bread today is also enriched, and usually has 16 or more vitamins and minerals added to it, versus just the original 8 back in the 50s-60s. Just look at the ingredients on any package of bread from a grocery store, unless it is a whole grain bread, the first ingredient is almost always enriched wheat. Manufacturers do this because during the milling process to make things like white bread, much of the nutrition is lost as most of it is in the hull and bran of the grain. Whole grain bread does not suffer this same level of nutrition loss as it is far less processed than white bread is.

The best part is the sound of the kid coughing at the very end. A perfect end to the list of health benefits!
Wonder bread also gives you tuberculosis. 😂
😂😂😂
For a moment I thought it was my son coughing but he's asleep 😂

Supposedly each ballon on the wrapper represents a vitamin in the bread. :)
OH SHUT UP BRO!
To avoid vitamin deficiencies like pellagra? Sounds like a good idea to me.
Excellent vintage product commercials.
I've heard several church pastors over the years preach against Wonder Bread. To quote one: "The wonder... is that it's bread."
I did not know Wonder Bread went that far back but Wonder and Mrs Karls as a Kid were my favorite breads !!
I love wonder bread!!
thats sad
It doesn’t taste like anything though…
By golly gee whiz, I wonder if wonderbread still has 8 different swell vitamins.
Flat out lies. Talk about deceptive advertising.

Well Said.
Not really. Listen closely. "A sandwich and 2 slices of Wonderbread with every meal". No ones saying what is or isn't in the sandwich, lol!
@@anon6785 what
If you grew up here in Seattle, in the 50s, it was Langendorf, Sunbeam, and Wonder bread!..
I remember all of tff he am from Southern California here.
I don't care what they say, enriching food and long shelf life was a miracle.
‘Coughs at the end’
Now will give you COVID-19!
LMAO THE COUGHING AHSHAHHS
Good enough for Superman and Howdy Doody....pass the Wonder Bread
I love wonder bread!!!!!
This commercial usually appeared on "HOWDY DOODY", as Continental Baking {Wonder, Hostess} was one of the show's regular sponsors.
I wonder if the executive who authorized the release of this commercial ever went to prison?
The Bread Was 29¢ back then
Sounds like James Earl Jones.
Yaasss
Wonder Bread Guy is wachting this
They said to eat HOW much bread?! 😱
Say who’s playing these characters
Wonder bread shld be placed in a soft bag that can breath before the plastic wrapped bag because it's smelling moldely instead of fresh.
Good like on the digestion, kid
Wonder Bread: created by Thurl Ravenscroft eight ways!
+Julian9ehp It's not Ravenscroft. I do think it's possible it's an African-American actor... but it's definitely not Ravenscroft.
+Carl Howard Fascinating, if true.
The announcer for the intro and closing sounds like it could be Dick Tufeld, the voice of the "Lost in Space" Robot.
Is their anything more tasteless than sliced white bread.
I wonder (pun unintended) ... I've not had a loaf of Wonder Bread in probably 40 years ... I feel the need to buy ONE loaf, and just "see" what all the hype is about!
And later it changes to 12 ways
Is that Darth Vader selling bread to kids?
Grandmammys bread

damn what a story.
are you black or white? how was detroit back in those days?
Is that James Earl Jones?
Not in 1952
This shit is not healthy oh my god
I think the average child would find two pieces of cardboard tastier than two slices of whole wheat.

I grew up in the 50s! Wonder Bread with PB&J and a glass of cold milk was good! Going on 75 now!
