I especially appreciate your attitude and humor when dealing with the inevitable glitches that come along. Can’t wait to see what projects you have next!
Welcome back, Carl. I'm looking forward to seeing the evolution on the farmhouse. You folks do amazing quality work! Also, I really miss my old ex-MoD Defender 90...
Thanks for taking us with you, through thick and thin showing the ups and downs is honest and inspiring. I appreciate that it is a lot of extra effort to carry and use all the filming kit so extra thanks for making the effort for our benefit.
Good to see you back. Lots of folk with autoimmune diseases and difficulties have good improvements re less inflammation and ease of pain doing a no grain/ no dairy (i.e. paleo / keto eating regime). It has definitely helped me Carl this past 9 years. Wishing you well. x
I worked for a large Utility Company in the 80s & 90s ... our Land Rover problems were reduced after switching some of the fleet to 4x4 County Transits which had better payload and towing capacity, and didn't fail as often as the LRs ...
I'm humbled by hearing of your AS and now more impressed by watching your achievements. My own immune system problems seem trivial. Looking forward to your future videos - greetings from Scotland.
I find watching your work very relaxing & have watched them multiple times 😊. Can't wait for the next one. I'm off to bed now... got diy work in the garage again tomorrow. Goodnight 🥱💤
I love this channel so much. I like these vlog style videos a lot. You're life is vastly different from mine so it's like a window in to another life, it's great!
I was gonna tease you about a multi-day 800 miles, but then saw the roads. More like a few of my motorcycle routes for vacation unless I "Need to get there ASAP" then 1200 miles in one 24 hour drive can happen. Or one year, 514 to Ma and Dad's, 589 to West Virginia, a few days camping in the boonies and riding there, 611 miles or so to my sisters place near Atlanta (via mostly state highways and some backroads, then, because I was sick and didn't want to infect Ma and Dad with it, a 823 mile run back home taking about 13 hours with gas stops.
Fix your trailer tilt latch, and then weld on a couple of tabs so that you can BOLT the trailer down when on long road trips where you won't need the tilt.
I have missed you and your projects. Welcome back. That was one hell of a trip. I admire your stamina and determination. Hope you are feeling well. Best wishes!
Good to see Carl back online. Due to a similar problem with using the clutch I converted my 127 to automatic using a four-speed box. It has an integral overdrive and retains the full functions of the transfer box. Never going back to manual!
Love your video. Tip from me: you are not supposed to lubricate the tow ball. It makes it harder for the trailer to grip the ball. Instead, polish it with some sand paper.
Yes you should with standard fittings , metal to metal dry has no damping effect it just creates excessive wear, don't confuse them with Alco/ caravan type that have built-in friction pads.
Welcome back, my friend. All those months I felt like I was missing something. I love carpentry and maintenance of old houses... Thank you for all the beautiful content... We are waiting for everything new and interesting Amal from UAE🇦🇪
Hudge respect for living with a autoimmune disease and being also able to build what you have build. I only can assume you have Ankylosing spondylitis. Hope you can manage it as long as possible!
Why don’t we have politicians like Carl? He figures out the problem, knows where to get the tools and parts, understands how to fit everything together properly, and look like he’s having fun doing it.
Hi just wanted to say have missed your videos. Always interesting and educational. A little anecdote about the Land Rover Defender. A friend of mine his wife is from England her first car was a Land Rover Defender. And when the 70th Edition model arrived, she bought a new black one with a diesel engine. To experience his youth again. And she did.... As she said it was just like before, no soundproofing rattled. I went along a few times and my old tractor David Brown 990 Selectamatic I sat more comfortably in.🤭 Looking forward to your new videos. greetings from Sweden
A good video, as you have us accustomed Desired to see the progress in the restoration of that house and your good work with the carpentry. greetings from the mountains of Madrid, Spain
Carl I was thinking of you earlier this week, that I hadn't seen any of your videos in a while... I hated that this video was under such circumstances... Well hope all is well and you'll be getting back to the farmhouse soon... Take care my friend and God Bless...
Quick question- I didn’t see the links listed for the products you used. Specifically I’m looking for the wire connectors you used with the heat shrink plastic. My puppy chewed through a vacuum cleaner wire yesterday and I saw that and thought that’s the perfect solution. Thanks.
My Jag F-Pace blew up a few weeks ago with a "Reduced Power" message. Turbo bearing failed on a turbo that was replaced under warranty 10k miles ago.... Last time it happened, it cost $17k... Just the hassle of dealing with car breakdowns is stressful and a time sink, never mind the cost. Hope you are well, chronic illnesses suck, BTDT.
Buy a lexus....if you want to avoid problems. When the Japanese style their vehicles properly....their products will be unbeatable. Karl should buy an Ineos....so far these vehicles are shaping up to be very good indeed.....lets hope they establish a reputation for reliability.
Could you fabricate a new hold down on that black trailer nut? One that's wider and wraps around the sides of the tab sticking out of the front to the trailer bed? Or add some side walls to the tongue that keeps the bed tab centered on the tongue.
Loved the video, I thought this was my old defender when I clicked on the thumbnail. I hope you have led bulbs in your headlights as you'll need to drill those rivets out of the guards to change the bulbs.
I've watched your videos for some time and was always impressed at the scope, breadth and quality of your work: huge tasks accomplished at a very high standard with seemingly no compromise. Now I've learned that you've done all this with an autoimmune disease. You sir, have mettle.
just found your land rover page and it is great informative i understand you problem with the clutch as i suffer from a serious back problem and my legs are always week so i have to drive a auto but it is a freelander thats another problem LOL thanks for the video
very interesting I had a similar experience coming back from Manchester being at the side of the road for 3 hrs. The Land Rover was not heavily loaded and had only 30 000 on the clock virtually the same age as yours. Ashcroft Engineering has a lubricated replacement but mine was replaced by the main agent for £1260 !! For a little more money the Land Rover could have been a really good vehicle and I have had to replace fittings that rust and a poor front bumper that rusted badly. Still like driving it though. Happy motoring.....
Was really interested in the shrimp connecters until Joop said they don't last long😓 On the flip side great to see you back in France...what have you bought?Steam roller, train carraige... I am so curious..
Happy to see you're back in France. Like many others here I can't wait to see what projects you'll tackle this time. But a bit sad to hear you have some kind of auto-immune issue. Much can be done nowadays in terms of diet and alternative therapies; I hope and pray you're doing your best to prevent any further damage. Also, looking forward to wearing that eye-catching blue jacket I just ordered. Cheers!
You buy a machine of any type ( car, truck, suv, heavy equipment, lawn mower, etc.) make or model, you best have a good tool box, repair ability, knowledge or money!!!
Have to admit I’m a bit sleepy still and I panicked when I saw you driving on the wrong side of the road! That woke me up enough to remember, oh yeah not America! Well done Carl! Keep up the safe driving! Also glad you’re back with the videos! 😳🫣🤔🙄🇺🇸
Well… I’m new to the channel… and I can honestly say… I liked what I saw 👀 The changes and difficulty’s with the defender itself, I can wholeheartedly understand. Having a 110 HT myself, here in Germany 🇩🇪… the clutch and Gearbox have been changed in the last year alone…wich did cost me nearly 10k, including labour and VAT… The spring for the clutch was already changed and I did change the lightbulbs to LED myself. But I do find the idea of a stand alone Lightbar appealing, I have to admit… I’m missing the links in the description?🤔 did I make a mistake or is something missing..? Greetings from Germany everybody 🤞
Glad your back! Always look forward to your adventures and projects. I know you had the Defender loaded but didn't look like it was that extreme for the problem it created. No experience with that vehicle
Two things about Land Rovers. 1) They WILL break down at some point (ask the Army) and 2) They they are the most amazing "kit" car that is so able to be manipulated that you'll spend your life repairing, upgrading etc. (that goes from the experience of coming a family of farmers in the North of Scotland). They're almost "expected" to need repair/upgrade. Another skill-set for your bio/resume/c.v.
Man, I've missed Carl's videos. Good to see you're back and hope you are well
Yeah I was beginning to wonder if he had found something else and was withdrawing from YT life...😲
Good he is back, those videos are great!
5:04 I love the baguette that he shoves into the side storage space, great subtle comedy👌
Good to hear from you, Has anyone ever changed a windshield wiper in good weather?
Thanks for taking us with you, through thick and thin showing the ups and downs is honest and inspiring. I appreciate that it is a lot of extra effort to carry and use all the filming kit so extra thanks for making the effort for our benefit.
SO happy to see a post! Glad to know you're OK.

Just rub some dirt on it!
I'm amazed you can get a Land Rover started ! well done.
???

13 minutes of entertainment. Thank you for another video. The bread was priceless.
Quite a nice motor. Million thanks from St. Paul,Minnesota.
Great Video! About headlight guards attached with pop rivets. How do you change a light bulb, please? Do you have to remove the rivets?
Thanks for taking us along
I love this channel so much. I like these vlog style videos a lot. You're life is vastly different from mine so it's like a window in to another life, it's great!
If you do still want to upgrade the headlights, I use osram nightbreakers. They're a massive difference.

I’m liking those wire connectors with the solder inside 💚👍
Good to see you back on your (mis)adventures. Have a great summer mate.
I have missed you and your projects. Welcome back. That was one hell of a trip. I admire your stamina and determination. Hope you are feeling well. Best wishes!
I've missed your videos and it's good to know that you're well, best wishes from Ensenada, Mexico
Good to see Carl back online.
Due to a similar problem with using the clutch I converted my 127 to automatic using a four-speed box. It has an integral overdrive and retains the full functions of the transfer box. Never going back to manual!
Good to see/hear from you again . . best of luck with current and future endeavors

Amal from UAE🇦🇪
Thanks!
Thanks Mike! :)
Good to see you're still active! And love that baguettes fall under long items you store in the car 😆 you're nearly completely French!
My output shaft spun as well. I put my foot down on the gas for a good 30 minutes to friction weld the shaft together.
Love your content. Can’t wait for new videos to drop
🙋👍 Glad to see you again. Good luck with new projects
I've had a defender for years pulling 2 ton boulders out of a quarry the only thing I had to fix was the clutch after 150000 it is brilliant
Hudge respect for living with a autoimmune disease and being also able to build what you have build. I only can assume you have Ankylosing spondylitis. Hope you can manage it as long as possible!
thanks mate. yep spot on assumption

Great video, albeit it a few nasty costs and work, but hope to see you fresh faced and up to speed soon, love from Yorkshire matey ! take it easy ....
A good video, as you have us accustomed
Desired to see the progress in the restoration of that house and your good work with the carpentry.
greetings from the mountains of Madrid, Spain
Have you ever tried Rain x on your wind shield. It works great to bead off the rain when wipers are being challenged.
I so have missed seeing your videos, welcome back.
I always thought you make a great announcer for commercials and such. A nice soothing voice

Great Vid Been through france quite a few times, I do also agree with the smaller roads way more too see and beautifully Villages and countryside
Loved the video, I thought this was my old defender when I clicked on the thumbnail. I hope you have led bulbs in your headlights as you'll need to drill those rivets out of the guards to change the bulbs.
Hi Carl - good to see you back again - noticed you have the LR version without A/C. Can be retrofitted at a not too high cost...
Carl awesome to see your notification come up! Great additions to the truck . Good to see your videos again! 👍👍

Good to have you back
interested, have you found the Defender to be sufficiently reliable for regular long-distance hauls across to France?
Happy to see you back
Was really interested in the shrimp connecters until Joop said they don't last long😓
On the flip side great to see you back in France...what have you bought?Steam roller, train carraige... I am so curious..

Дякую, за відео. Дуже подобається слухати вашу англійську, приємний голос та дикція.
What a mission you had great editing too
Great to hear from you again
Thanks for the video Carl
I always learn something and am entertained.
Should’ve just saved up and purchased JW Speaker LED headlights for normal driving. They are the best upgrade for night driving,
Still on my binge watching of my new favorite channel.
Can't see that anyone else noticed that LR08RCR became WJ62NVK.
I look very much forward to the next project video’s on the farm 😊
Missed ya, Carl! Can’t wait to see more content! Stay Safe Folks!!!
