LOVE LOVE LOVE This 😎 Take heed all you " shredders " It isn't what you play, and how fast you play it .... but rather what you don't play ... and when you choose not to play it 🙏 Every musician here is showing the upmost respect and gently caressing every nuance of the tune .... BEAUTIFUL ❤ When ever a group of musicians get together, their music should be like a conversation. Each person should have something to say but when he is speaking, the others should never, disrespectfully, interrupt, rather they should LISTEN to each other and, intermittently, add supportive comments to the conversation.
Beautiful version. Am a massive Abdullah Ibrahim fan and reckon this is one of the most beautiful songs ever .. period. The version on his trio album Cape Town Flowers is the definitive one. It's power is in its simplicity .. and you kept it simple and resisted the temptation to get busy with it. Well done! 👏👏👏
Adam, I played the first VS album to death, and lately I’ve been listening to the tracks from the upcoming album nonstop. Just can’t get enough. You all play so beautifully and so well together. Thank you.
I love that. A great example of caring for the music and each other while playing. I will show this to my students as a example how to play together the right way. And even before that it is very beautiful music.
This song ("Maraba Blue") will be on our next record - out by the end of this year, we hope. The version on the record was recorded at a different session but the vibe is very much like this.
Fantastic (yet again!).🥰😍🤩 One point concerning this whole debate about playing fast/a lot of notes vs playing less. The latter is always characterized as "simple" (e.g. "Play something simple, but effective") and as an antithesis to virtuosity. I think this is completely wrong. The less you play the more you're on the spot. If you shred away, you can hide easily hide thoughtless notes or mistakes (at least some). Sloppy technique is also much more easily detected if you play fewer notes (even by non-musicians).
This particular performance/recording won't be available on streaming. We have a new album coming out in May - called 'Fan Favorites' - that will feature a recording of this song, with the same crew. That will be available on on streaming platforms.

Different styles, different moods. But ya I prefer this over shredding nonsense wannabe SRV clowns.

@@AdamLevyGuitarTips WOW! 😳 Much more impressive than I realized. That place IS Gear Heaven.
Love the vibe, tones, melodies. Is this a new release? I purchased one of your albums on Bandcamp and wondering if there's something new in store.

What is that amp you are running through? The sound coming from you, to the guitar, to the memory man, and into the amp is amazing.
It's an old Danelectro that belongs to the studio (Grand Street Recording in Brooklyn). I've used it on other sessions there. It's special.
Loving this! Stumbled across Rich’s work recently and it led me here! Any chance this recording is/will be available on streaming?
