    I've had my scope since Christmas. After spending 2 months watching RUclips videos ironing out the hardware side of astrophotography, I got to the processing... I really struggled with this until I found your Videos. Seems Pixinsight is the gold standard for amateur photography, but it looked so intimidating.... until I watched your Videos.... adding the tool shortcuts for your tutorials was genius... I spent 5 hours on the Heart Nebula at the weekend and was over the moon with the result!!...
    A BIG thanks to you Luke
    Andy

    Your killing me dude, thanks to this video and access to some new tools, I have to re-process ALL my photos. They went from a 3.5 to a solid 7. Bought all the RC package and with your instruction and Bills tools. Amazing that's all I can say. Ill be referring to this video every time I process, Unfortunately I have memory issues due to ADHD, but the simplistic way you present your content is a blessing. Thank you very much.

    Another fantastic processing video to add to my library. Tip of the hat to Bill for his amazing work and to you Luke for the hands-on application. Can’t wait to try this out. Super Tutorial! Thank you for the great work you do! One problem I had was that the Icons were loaded but not visible. It was caused by the x-position of the icons in the script because my HP-Probook has only a display resolution of 1920 x 1080. The setting was over 2000. I simply edited with the PI script editor to a smaller value and it works, even with the newest PI Version. Also good to know, that the icon preset is for workspace 1. 👍😉😁🇨🇭🔭

      Hey there! :-D I'm so glad you liked the video, thank you for the lovely feedback my friend!
      RE: the icons appearing off screen, sorry about that! - I do my processing on a 4k screen so when I save the icons I guess the positional data is also embedded, - I'm glad to hear you've figured out the fix, there's another way to bring them to the current workspace too - just right click in the pixinsight desktop and press 'arrange all' icons and it'll do that for you too, allowing you to save in a new position :-) Hope that helps!
      Thanks for watching!

    I saw Bill's video the other day, and downloaded the icons. When you did the demo of the HOO normalisation, what was your base image? Was it just shot RGB or did you use something like a dual narrowband filter? I have just got the Askar D1 ColourMagic filter, and am very new to all this processing. Great video BTW, and your stuff is really helpful to new people like me.

    • @lukomatico

    Great video Luke! I've got two quick question about processing in mono SHO. First, where would you run SPCC in the processing? I'm very new to mono processing since I've had my Poseidon M for a whole 2 days now. Second question would be where would you do background extraction? I did a simple SHO combination and there looks like a bit of a color cast in the background that I know could be corrected with some sort of background extraction, but I don't know when to do it. Thanks so much for your videos, I've been using the majority of your icons and all of Bill's scripts since last fall.

    • @lukomatico
      @lukomatico  Год назад

      Thanks for the question my friend! Glad you liked the video :-)
      RE: when to use SPCC on mono SHO - to be totally honest I've not tried it for that yet, so I can't say with any certainty! My apologies I can't help more with that one!
      (The general rule is use it as early as possible though.)
      RE: when to background extract, - for me, I use a DBE or ABE early on in processing before making nonlinear (stretching), and then I'm also unafraid to dive in and use it again more gently further down the processing workflow if I uncover further gradients too - I generally find it to be very gentle on the data if used carefully :-)
      Hope you have a superb weekend my friend, and good luck with your processing!
