Hello from Ireland again, James. That Ford Focus, that you got from Joe, has cleared up very nicely. That i35 was a nice buy, buddy. Shame about the Ford Fiesta and Sandaro, and the Picasso. That Twingo is a lovely motor, Wicked Colour, keep up the brilliant work, James 🙏🥰👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😅
Prices are still crazy imo. 2.7k for a 15yr old focus. A lot of the motors in that auction are bangers, and the risk of faults is huge. Just think what prices will be like going forward if the crazy petrol and diesel ban goes ahead in 2030.
Yes, most of those cars are what I would call a banger. I know what you mean about prices, only yesterday I was talking with a friend, he had been to look at a 2012 Toyota Yaris for his son's first car, average mileage, some service history, but owned by an OAP driver so lots scrapes and small dents all over it. Owner wanted £2300 for it. He eventually paid £2k, and we were saying that only a few years ago it would have been nearer £800 and only then if it had a tank of fuel and decent time on the MOT remaining.
It is quite amazing that you make a living. You are an honest trader that looks after your customers and loves your job. Shame you are not nearer, I am about to mot and service my car which has done 350 miles since last mot so considering giving up. My sister has a newer similar model and wants a specific replacement.
It's amazing for me to see how quickly you can buy and sell cars. I usually buy bad cars and am on them for months at a time, but I also do the work myself and usually out of ours for things like timing chains or big end bearings on BMWs or minis!
Chops has the best business out of all the RUclipsrs in their group - simplest lowest cost of operation in terms of advertising and inputs ie servicing and prepping combined with stock per person in business.
And Chops even gets burnt on so many cars and he works his ass off. Must of managed to fit 28 hours in a day selling the cars and keeping the you tube going.
As a car dealer back in the 1990s I really enjoy your channel along with Joe's at Berrow Motors and Dave's at Lovely Car Company. This all takes me back to my days of shifting metal. (Yeah we called it that then) I particularly like watching you as you are in the same relative market price point and type of vehicles I was back then. However, back in my day you couldn't purchase online as there was no internet as we know it. We had to visit the auction in person and even to advertise on AutoTrader you would ring them up and they would send someone to photograph the vehicle for the weekly magazine. Also, most of my vehicles back then were much less complicated to repair especially the electrics etc. However, the customers and there problems were more or less identical to yours, same old headaches and stress! Anyway, keep up the good work James, your videos take me back at make me want to be doing it all again.
Thought might go and pick up IX35 as £100 saving might buy relevant part bringing up diagnostic light. When delivery just 3 figures understand why having bulk delivery.
Sounds as if you are better going to the live auctions and seeing the cars with live bidding. Good luck James you are one of the rare breed ( honest) in the car industry that works hard and your word is your bond ! 👍
Hello James, well done on what you have brought, to make some profit and make a good turn around too! I cold not do this, sleepless nights or anxious hours waiting for the final results!! Anyhow, I just do not have the confidence or the money to spend, but interesting to watch this video! Best wishes from Lincolnshire
Hi James. Heard you on the podcast. Think carefully before you go limited. For a start no-one will lend you money as a one man business without you giving personal guarantees. You cannot have a company car - you have to have your own car and pay yourself mileage (you can have a van). You get stuck with a corporation tax bill in January - the worst month of the year. Reallly don’t do it. I tried it for about three years before I went back to a sole trader. Stay a sole trader and get a decent car that you can expense against tax.
You can have a company car , because you are an employee of youR limited company. You can also get credit without personal guarantees once you have been trading a while. I've had 2 limited companies before
Would you consider getting in a few Cat N write offs and repairing them? I know you'd have to sell at maybe 25% below retail, but is there still a decent margin in it? Or are the buying public still scared of anything like that? Looking at some Cat N, they dont look like theyd need much more than you do to some of yours now...
@@ChopsGarage Fair enough. I wondered if the market was different now. I've done a cpl just for my own use, so time spent wasn't an issue. Good luck with the auction buys 🙂

@@rogermurphy1154because £2000 you get up to 6 months warranty,,which covers expensive parts should they go wrong,,,,,and if you follow some cars only actually make a profit between £300 , 500,, and if you gotna pair you risk £2000 and some parts you might make nothing,,,otherwise go out and pay £30,000 with 12 months warranty duhhhh🎉
Because he is adding value. He adds a warranty, he prepares it for sale often fixing issues, he moves its location. All of which affects the cars value. Anyone can buy from auction (well G3 not BCA), if people want to buy it at the auction price they can always do it in the auction hall without the additional value you get from a dealer. I did and got a bargain i know people who have rolled the dice and not been so lucky.
Great video explaining all the costs and the auction fees
Thanks for watching!

Some bidders set a limit as a nice round number, eg £2,000, so is it worth setting a limit just over that (depending on the bid increments)?
That incurs the next level of fees
Throwback to the old days. Still my favourite bunch of videos of yours when you bought those 9 or 10 cheapies and turned them round in a month 👍
Old skool chops
Did you have a chance to do a video on the Tipo before you sold it. Would like to know your thoughts on the car.
It's like going to the casino, it's a numbers game , looking forward to the update.
Interesting video James, looking forward to seeing your site crammed full of motors 😁
Thanks for sharing your knowledge James, another great video
Hi James great video explaining all the costs of buying from auction. You got some great stock. Have a great weekend James.

Evening James, @Chops Garage asked for a price on my car but not heard anything back from you yet. Roughly how long would it take? Regards

Wonder what your reaction would be if you won all your auction bids!

I find Autotrader valuation are about 10-20% over.
I sell sub 5k cars over Autotrader so I find it below
