can't wait for mine to arrive in on thursday. At the uni lab i have dmls sls sla and fdm by stratasys, haas and such major brands to play with, but this is my first very own 3d printer and i am excited like a child:) It took me 3 weeks to decide. I really can't wait even paid eur20 more to have guaranteed 2 day delivery:) I know the result will be far from what i've experienced with the big machines, but now i can wake up at 2am with some idea , draft it and have it ready in the morning. The choice was between Zortrax 3 and the Prusa mk3s and Prusa won by the waaay lower price , the great community built around it and the great vibe it has. And now it is miiiine!

    Wizard:
    1. selftest
    2. x, y, z calibration
    - remove steel sheet for calib and put on sheet of paper
    - clean nozzle
    5. 9 point Mesh Bed Leveling
    - this is height calibration before every print
    - put on steel sheet
    6. Temperature Calibration/heating
    7. Load Lilament (this will come up in wizard or find the load filament procedure in settings)
    8. First Layer Calibration
    - clean the bed (and then replace steel sheet on top)
    - this will begin to print test line
    - manually adjust Z (usuakky to -1mm)
    - prints a small piece
    9. clean the bed again to get printing by saving your .gcode file on SD card
    (use PrusaControl from drivers package?)

I just bought this so I can build a Tesla turbopump which means I'm going to test if my concept* works AND I get to use my awesome new Prusa i3 MK 3 to replace my broken dishwasher nozzle at the same time!
Huzzah! Thanks so much Josef and the rest at Prusa 3D! You're a good eggs and I hope history has a page for your folks cuz you deserve it!
*Tesla turbo-pump will have a vacuum compressor intake before and after a Tesla turbine to suck the heat out of the water and hot air inside the dish washer resulting in faster drying/cooling without having to expend any extra energy besides what's already used to wash the dishes.
I mean I wanted to start with a (what might be a self-powering) turbofan instead but the wife told me it was either I fix the dishwasher or I'm on exclusive hand-washing dish duty for the house until I get that nozzle fixed so it's that while doing turbofan or put the tasks together.

Hypocycle i Have no idea what were you doing lol. If your nozzle crashes into the bed, lower your pinda (its in instructions), check your firmware, might need updating, whenever i sent a message on forum i get a reply within 6-12h or you can live message instantly. Crash detection so far only detects "crashing" into something not being pushed so test it by blocking the motor not pushing (its also worth checking if its enabled in settings) plus it only works in normal mode not stealth.

    • @maxun1
      @maxun1 6 лет назад +1

The printer is defective, the CR10 is more simple better in all aspects, more volume, less BS for level the bed, and do not have the amount of plastic this Hundai have, the funny part is the price $780 dollars LOL, I get 2 CR10 working in 2 hours like a champ after a complete inspection. Parts are easy to find, this machine is a overprice Hundai. And yes after that fiasco with Tom this guy better lower the price of this machine, and his magnetic bed LOL magnetism goes away with heat, come onnnnnn. Just look the huge manual, the cr10 is minimal, why because works out of the box.

    • @jbelle5512
      @jbelle5512 6 лет назад +13

The only thing that is defective is the thing behind your eyes. What is the printer that started the whole movement of low cost non-industrial printers with industrial performance? Prusa. What sparked all the Chinese printer companies like Creality, Tevo, Anycubic, Wanhao? Prusa. What is in the item description of almost every 3D printer on eBay? Prusa i3. How many print farms run the CR10? Ok, let's play even in your playing ground. How many Prusa printers does Tom have now? 3. How many CR10s? 0. GG, lol. Ok, you want to complain about the magnetic bed. "Oh, come on, magnetism goes away with heat *picks nose*". Yes, it does---over 150 centigrade heat. Now the next question is, what the hell are you doing raising up your bed temperature that high. You really think magnets will lose their magnetism before plastic melts? Lmao. Obviously, 3D printing is too much for you, perhaps Hello Kitty Tropical Island Adventures would be more suitable. Now take your thumbs down and get the hell out of here you troglodyte homunculus.

Hi not sure if you will ever see this Joseph but I asked tech support how to get in contact with you and they said there is no way to and that is what brings me here. I am sure only the pr people will probably see this and not you but figured it is worth a try. I purchased the mk3 I3 and received it a week ago from today. It was the unassembled kit. I got all the way down to wiring and found out that my kit was packaged wrong with the incorrect pinda probe and also missing screws and nuts throughout every bag. I used up all the spare m3-10 screws in the spare bag and also was missing the tool kit. I contacted tech support sent pictures of the pinda I had sent me out a new one. Got it installed and having issues spent over 8 hours online with tech support trying to figure whats wrong with an 800 dollar machine that after paying that much I should not be having issues with things with it. After spending all that time she determined it has to be the pinda probe issue even though I told her what already happened and that this is a new one. Also sending out a heat bed since mine was not totally flat. I told her I would like to send this one back for another one and was told that's not how this works. After 8 hours of sending pictures and videos and them having me taking things apart and reassemble them again. I am not happy after spending this much money and having to deal with miss boxed items and having to wait a week then now having to have more parts sent out and waiting another week and already waited 5 weeks to get my printer. Again sorry for having to post here but tech support said if I emailed the companies email to contact you that it would never make it to you

I'm using the glass bed on an ender3 from late 2019 and do not ever have to clean the bed after a print in over 2 mos. with both ABS and PLA I go through an entire spool of filament and only re level 2-3 times. I wipe the bed with a dry paper towel about twice a month. I wash the glass in the sink with dish soap and comet about twice a year. All the slicing in in Cura. The printer menu has poor selection ability, but It still prints every day all day non stop. The miniature memory card is junky. We would like to now get into this Prusa and be able to tweak it for similar performance. I will never understand why you ppl making these machines don't just put USB sockets on these things once and for all !!

its an extremely nice printer. If it wasnt so expensive i would have bought it. Now i have to go with another model from another facturer.

Would like to update my Prusa i3 MK3 with the new parts shown on the Prusa website. These are the parts affecting the heating and cooling of the print extrusion head. One helpful video would be the disassembly and assembly showing the old parts coming off and the new parts being installed.

Maybe a tip, those moist fiber cloths to clean glasses are also IPA based

Yes but you need to be careful. Some of them use 50% isopropyl, which will cause bed adhesion issues.

Eagerly anticipating my first ever 3D printer, a Prusa i3 MK3S+!
Question - at the 11:10 mark you jog the bed by hand, is this recommended or frowned upon?

Having trouble with z calibration. I'm wondering if a pattern that auto adjusts the z height throughout would be easier. It's difficult to adjust and watch simultaneously. It seems that if the pattern had a set adjustment increment throughout it might be easier to look at the final result and determine a good value upon completion. Maybe print the same pattern in various quadrants with varying z adjustments and then pick the best quadrant. Repeat withing a narrowing range as you pick the best result with each iteration. I understand you may encounter problems based on the sheet not being level from side to side but that is already an issue as you try to adjust on the fly visually. To clarify, I'm referring to the "First layer calibration" step.

I only hear good things about your printer and I would get one immediately... however, the print size is too small for me. If at least the Z axis would be bigger, that would help. The question is, why is it not "taller"? I mean, manufacturing wise there is no way it would make the printer that much more expensive, right? That said, I hope you come up with a "taller" print area soon!

i cant speak for prusa, but i think the frame sets a limit for how tall it can be, you could look into a zaribo frame kit if you want to get a higher z

@@grumpydude1598 Cool. I did not know there is such a thing. I will look into that. Thanks.

nice video, would love to own a Prusa i3 one day. one thing to note, the video has a lot of very high pitched squeaking during the calibration bit of the video
