- If you decide to sideload apps, meaning install apps that cannot be found on the Android TV Play Store, sometimes you will not find them. In the specific, you will not find the app icon on your Android TV home screen, you will not even find the sideloaded application inside your App drawer. In this tutorial, I am gonna show you how to add to your Android TV Home Screen any app that you sideloaded.
Why sideload apps? Even though the Android TV Play Store has a lot of applications, there are a lot more applications that are designed to be used on smartphones and tablets. So you will need to download and install them on your Android TV device (TV or streaming device like the Nvidia Shield TV, Mi Box S, etc.).

With the Nebula Manager application, which is a free app from Google Play Store, you can add a second row of apps, like the "Apps" row which comes by default on your launcher's home screen. And if you never sideload apps, you can still add applications just for the easiness of having two rows of applications and games.

To clarify... What the problem is here; when you sideload an app, it's installed as a `system` app, rather than a `user` app (those installed from the Play Store, or other official storefronts).
The standard Android TV Launcher (launchers are what homescreens/desktops are called in the android ecosystem) will only display `user` apps. This is the root cause of the problem.
What nebula manager does is read both the installed `system` and `user` apps, whilst creating a channel (something that the Android TV API allows third party apps to do, thankfully), so you can workaround this limitation.
Many thanks. Since these system apps are eventually useable on the Android tv, why Android excluded them in the PlayStore of Android tv ? Hope that Android tech guys can make life easier.
I have been using Nebula Manager. It's a simple and effective app. Unfortunately you cannot re-arrange icons. If you need to have more customization then Sideload Channels is the way to go.

Hi Dimi, have found an app that can agregate sideloaded apps as well as commercial apps into one interface with search. Most only work with paid and and public tv apps.

Sadly does not work on my System, it does not show and Apps. My system is running Android 11.

yes it should even though on some new Android versions does not work, try using Leanback Launcher in order to find any apps that do not show up.

Hey I'm wondering if you could help me... I bought a TV and it cant get Netflix on the play store. It isn't supported. I don't want a computer version of it though. Is there a way I can get a TV apk for it that works?
you can sideload different versions so you find the one that works but seems like your TV isn't certified by Netflix so you will have low resolution. What TV is it?
