Decline of political ideology is as real as it can be in today's world.
China claims to be following communist ideology but in reality China is more capitalist than many capitalist countries themselves.
I think ideology has become too theatrical in today's world and reality revolves around practical approaches which is what works and what doesn't.
People have also got disillusioned that ideology alone is not sufficient and we need practical ways to run the world.
We also see that world is slowly moving towards a new and common ideology of sustainable world where things are seen from what's good for the climate and what's not.
In next few decades there will be more decline in traditional ideologies as they will become irrelevant due to lack of evolution.

I put some comment on this issue
1) Danial bell somehow support the marx thought that econmic production is base and all things whether it is politics, ideology, religion be superstructure economic will determine ideology that's why ideology was sidelines during 1960s
2) With respect to development the moot question to decide "Development for whom'? whether it is for poor or capitalists
that answer will be solve by ideology only.
3) It is my personal understanding I may be wrong
the biggest threat for ideology now days is "Post modernity" where intelligent people like you from society do not come forward to explain what is right or wrong
second threat come from technology because basic purpose of ideology to solve problem and provide framework for that solutions but now everybody try to solve their problems whether it is state or society by technology
for ex in India digital india DBT transfer etc
IT MEANS WE HAVE MORE TRUST ON MACHINE THAN MAN
TODAY'S IDEOLOGY HAS TO DECIDE HOW to SOLOVE THE PROBLEM OF DIGITAL COLONISATION FROM BIG MNC AND STATE surveillance
