Over 600 people have been injured during the annual Black Nazarene parade, one of the most popular religious gatherings in the Philippine capital Manila.
Around 800,000 Catholic devotees had flocked to the city to join the procession on January 9, 2019.
The Black Nazarene is a life-sized statue of Jesus Christ originally from Mexico and brought to the Philippines in 1606. Blackened when it survived a fire, the statue is believed to have healing power which draws worshippers who try to touch the icon during the parades.
If you believe, no explanation is necessary...
If you do not believe, no explanation is possible...
It's called FAITH. If these people have experienced something out of the ordinary and they believe it,... who are we to judge them. Leave them alone...
salvador viernes well said sir,
@@manu5550 Thanks. People here commenting this video are ignorant because the Jews also worshiped the Ark of Covenant.
Well said.
Leave alone tell that to Jesus why would he teach inside the temple seem like you are like a pharisse who don't want to be bothered when truth is making its ways
Tama ka po
I'm a catholic but not so religious,, when I saw the face of black Nazarene in person(2008). I can't explain the feeling, I had goosebumps, something is like touching my heart, suprisingly I was crying, so mysterious. Until now, I still can't believe what happened? Why I cried, unbelievable.
i felt thesame
Same ❤
i always have that feelings! just like you i cant explained why i cried. It feels like theres a force with in me that hits me and maked me cry! i cnt really hold it.

I have been to these and i still love how my fellow filipinos are working together to pull the black nazarene to the church that is far away
This is an annual event, every 1 friday of the new year. The number of people who joins the procession averages 2-5million people. Many of the devotees comes from far away places, walked barefoot to join the procession

Much RESPECT to these folks!
why, is just a bunch of ignorants

The incredible thing is that, there were never been stampede or any tragedy that happened during this event. Some people

My ancestral homeland.
Translacion (a.k.a. Nazareno or Black Nazarene Procession) translated to English "Transferring" is a religious event where a statue of a black Jesus is being moved to (correct me if I have the wrong chapel) Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene.
The people think that the statue survived a fire. But it was already black made by an anonymous sculptor during the 1400's. The sculptor used black wood, but the news of it surviving a fire made people believe that it was a miracle of it being not burnt to ashes.
The celebration causes traffic and havoc in places, I literally went outside to go to a table tennis court and boy, was it messy. Several streets we're closed down, the data services were shut down for the day and the day before because of the event.

Wow!
I was wondering if they check what kind of load the bridge they're on is able to hold?
I think they check it annually there were times where the traditional route was changed due to concerns, it's such a big event that if the bridge collapsed the death toll would exceed a natural disaster.
That bridge has been there since the Spanish era but with obvious constant repairs, refurbished and strengthening.
Probably not

Their unwavering faith keep that bridge might strong as they say faith can move mountains and so keeping the bridge strong and unmoving would be just easy when true faith prevails.

People need something to hold on to lest we just live on this earth without purpose. Religion fills that gap of something to hold on to. A mother with a sick child will go to these events and ask God to heal her child. These manifestations of beliefs give hope to those who believe.
religion among other things can fill that gap

I dont understand the difference of reaching and touching the nazarene during processions, when all year round its just there sitting in one of their church. Does the healing effect from the Nazarene differs during the procession than any ordinary day?
That's one of the first originals that burned downed and Miraculously Put the fire out by itself
Its guarded in the church and only times when its blessed
It's in the same essence as a pilgrimage. Because wouldn't surviving the distance and crowd like this show greater love than just going at the back at any day
It is the only time in a year to be viewed for people

The Nazero when you look up him he immidiately can touch your heart & you can really feel it but one thing i don't understand why the religious people must going up to the cart of Nazareno in the procession I think is too much no respect is a very wrong believe to do that...
Great and wide is the road that leads to destruction and many find their way there, but narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
😢😢😢
Its every Filipino catholic believers to Poong JESUS NAZARENO.. its their PANATA to Him YEARLY.. every Devotees in every part of the world.
But still there are some that died every procession
No I don't think so... In this specific one only 600 injuries occurred and that's a miracle considering 2-3 million people participated, meanwhile in the Itaewon disaster 100k attended and over 100 people died.
@@animesenpai1163 I'm not really comparing it to what happened in Korea. I'm just here saying that every procession there's still deaths happening even if its low. I just feel its not justified to die in it over just to get close to the statue and get a towel to wipe on it.
Reminds me of Moses movie when the ppl were worshipping the idols.
So the ppl holding the statue on that car are really lucky and so blessed lol
Have you been inside a church? It's nothing but idols and structures of idols all over the place
@@jayjohnson7708hey be respectful to other beliefs ok
I just cant understand why every year there would always be a problem regarding your procession no offense
Cause all of Catholic peoples in Philippines experienced miraculous life

Sindami ng buhangin sa dagat ang mapapahamak sa Araw ng Paghuhukom😢
It all started with a simple procession, then people became blind and priests instead of correcting the people they too join the foolishness. Anyone can visit the statue anytime but they said miracles happen during this festivities.
LOL😂
I know. This is why our president is mad at this
When did the priests say that miracles happen at this specific time? Isn't this just an expression of faith or folk piety?

@@madey.moiselle if 1 person trips and falls to the ground, wont this have a domino effect and lead to people being trampled on?
@@edgardovillacorte7012 this has been in this way since 2007. Oh and did I mention that every 200 meters there are medical stations, ambulances, EMT's on stand by, police and even the army personnel who are scattered all over the place plus members of the coast guard on the river while the procession is traversing.
@@edgardovillacorte7012 they did not go there to have fun, but to have faith. If someone drops, people has to bring them up and put them on the side where health care is given.
And a domino effect wont happen because there is a rope that actually guides everyone in one direction, if you feel weak, you can hold on to the rope or near the center where there are less people
There's a whole code of conduct the people attending have to take note off and one of them is noticing handsigns of people who need help... In which the crowd will basically crowd surf them to the side and have either bystanders or the stationed personnel help them.
