This is a helpful video for people who play solo D&D with a hexcrawl map. When you generate a new hex’s terrain, you want to keep your symbols fairly simple because you draw them repeatedly, but you want them to look obvious so you can easily tell what they represent.
Great video (as ever) JP. I've drawn up the maps for my first self created game over the last few weeks - all woodland, with trees and fungus, but simple like yours with a 'broken' grid too to use for playing with paper miniatures! I was walking in woodland this morning and took loads of photos for reference for the final maps/zine.
Random thought: Have you ever thought about drawing the Seven Wonders of the world in your art style? Seems like a fun exercise at the least. Also does your world have any Wonders?
How big are theese? If you take the small town and the castle at 9:08. I've been trying to replicate theese, but find it hard to create a replica that doesn't look like shite.
im looking to find out how to create a village in a distance in drawings on paintings. More like from a hill perspective looking down at it. Any ideas? Thanks
JP made this cool video on drawing isometric maps, it's a great primer on the concepts and techniques involved in making overhead "bird's-eye view" compositions ruclips.net/video/3hyWS6wWxgE/видео.html

This guy makes the most cartoony artworks ever. Really cute and cartoony.
Just wanted to say you seem like a really genuine kind person. Keep it up, love your stuff and art style. Sending good energy 🤙🏻👏🏻🙌🏻
Alternative video title: Another creative injection of pure inspiration by JP Coovert.
Love it!
Watched your drawing videos many times and just bought your Flik Silverpen‘s Guide. Drawing my own Shadowdark maps now! Thanks @JP!
this sparks joy

Fun idea! Flik Silverpen's world probably has many. Haven't considered it in that way though!
Absolutely love all your videos
This is brilliant! I'm following all of your videos at the moment as I try to illustrate my own map for my brand new fantasy series.
Always terrific!
why did it take so long to find your work!

I am looking forward to it.
I was stuck on the town part of my map and you posted this video

Just takes a little practice! Once you do a few you'll be good to go!
And.........subscribed!
I Love your videos
You are a treasure.

If you're having a hard time with detail, try a thinner pen or draw them bigger! You can get it!

Maps By Owen
Ur video are awesome 😎 👍😎
When does this hit your shop?
It's in there now! Got another one about drawing top-down city maps coming early to mid next month!
I'm actually a character designer but my God do I suck at drawing maps. Your videos have really helped, though I still suck though.
Is that Blue's house????
What type of paper do you use/recommend?
Paper kinda depends on what sort of pens you use. For final illustrations I like smooth Strathmore Bristol Board.
bro its tough man
Finally first
