I agree but with faux locs its different. I had mines in for 4 months and I only took them out because they were down to my butt and im not used to long and heavy. I washed once a month , when i took my hair down i thought "i could've kept that up another 4-6 weeks ." The longer they are in the more realistic they look. I had people asking me how long i been growing my hair and how hot it was 😂😂😂 Again, i washed mines once a month (i started every 2 weeks but it was so heavy and the water , it took all day to dry, so i pushed it one month) im going to do this again for sure.
I'm right at 6 or 7 weeks with my faux locs and I was worried that my natural hair had probably started locking up into the faux locs, so just thinking about taking them down was giving me anxiety. I'm so glad I watched this video. Thank you for posting!
So I usually have braids in minimally 3 months always and it works for me. So believe when I say when taking down whatever style it is; never ever use a wet or water based conditioner to take down your hair. Use OIL, doesn't matter what kind. If you put water it will lock up where all the dirt and product has accumulated at the root. Simply add oil to root and length of braid and it'll slip right out. Gently separate the build up at the root with the oil and it comes right out.
This was absolutely the best technique. I had made an appointment to get mine taken out because I was getting frustrated and I only had taken 2 out. After watching this video I tried again and it was a breeze. Thanks much!!

I think its ok and it makes getting your hair done worth it if you're able to keep them for a long time. For me I keep my locs in or braids in for 3 to 4 months all the while spraying water to keep my hair hydrated and occasionally spraying a leave in conditioner. I also wash my roots and the braids not often so that the braids don't get real messy but for me it works. Lately my hair has been dry because I've been a little dehydrated but other than that its worked for me. I think it can be all about how you take care of your hair while you have the protective style in. It costs lots of money to get your hair done (at least for me a total of 270 with 70 dollars going towards buying the hair) that's why for me I would rather make it last long.
Jasmine Devich listen.... *cough cough* I agree with you. With Proper care you can keep your styles in longer... but sis the majority still doesn’t even know how to properly comb or moisturize our hair lol what happens when you don’t take care of your hair properly is what we witnessed in the video above... So ultimately yes, if you know what you are doing go for it, if not, you can either take your chances, or... 🤷🏽♀️ lol
I also keep mine for 3 months. I've been on a mini braid journey since January. I keep them 2-3 months. This time I'm aiming for 4. I deep condition every 2 weeks and moisturize every other day or when my hair feels dry. I never get damage when taking down my protective styles because I'm gentle and detangle using ACV. I think at the end of the day if you know what you're doing chances of success are higher. I definitely personally don't condone keeping styles for long without proper care.
Me too just now! This was my second set and last time I tried unravelling the hair wrapped around my loc from the bottom UP!😫 Needless to say it tangled badly last time! Thank you again!😊

You did an absolutely amazing job. Realistically a style should be in the hair for 2 weeks max. Our natural hair is fragile and those little hairs WILL break. We overestimate how strong our hair is at a cost. May God help us. I know it’s hard to keep on top of our hair.
