After a morning of play session with Mochi, I travel to Bergen, my home town. Cobbled narrow streets, charming wooden houses, a mountain hike with fantastic views + walks around Norway's most beautiful city. (In my humble opinion...)
the way you present "noise" be it putting butter on the bread to the conversations around the lift to get you to your destination... and you mix that into the visual experience perfectly. You are doing something very special and meditative here. Thank you.

I was thinking of that little bespectacled boy as you hiked that magnificent mountain trail and walked those beloved streets, and I am so grateful that he stayed true to himself whilst navigating his life at that time. I can only imagine the joy and pride of your family and closest friends in the man into whom he blossomed in the fullness of time 🫶🏻

I'm delighted that you are sending me so much love all the way from South Africa. Yes, I was a little sad when Mr. I left for a few days, but I quickly forgot because I got lots of treats. Also, because it's summer, I get to sleep for a long time in the mornings, which I love, because as you know, I am a princess.
I will tell Savage he has a fan on the other side of the world! Last year we used to run in circles for ages. But this year, since we both are more grown up, it's more fun with a ball. I just wish Savage could keep up with me!

Oh, how I love this channel! I wish I could transport through the screen and, boom, I’m in Bergen. Those houses are both beautiful and charming. I always wonder about who resides in them and what their lives are like, what kind of jobs they have, etc. The forest photos look like something out of a storybook. And, of course, I want to reach through the screen at any bakery you stop at! The sound of cowbells tinkling is so relaxing. The end always comes too soon, but this particular last scene is the best I’ve ever seen on any video or show that speaks volumes without a spoken word. The three of you on the couch with your princess busy chewing a snack with you two dads holding hands while watching my all time favorite TV show is just the sweetest ever! ❤❤❤

What a wonderful, almost fairy-tale city with narrow streets and cute colorful houses! And what stunning landscapes and landscapes around the city are simply breathtaking! Visiting Bergen has been a long-time dream of mine. Perhaps because you grew up in such a beautiful place, you know how to take a video nature and views of the city and people so beautifully...You really see beauty in ordinary and familiar things. Filming the video actually made me see the city in a new light because some of the beauty I take for granted. But now I was saying to myself: "Wow, this street or this view is amazing!"
Bergen is such a beautiful little city. Spent 2 days there before our Hurtigruten sailing (with a fairly rare big snowfall that made it even more magical) and 2 days afterwards (Christmas Day and Boxing Day) - and would love to go back again. Your hike from Mt. Ulriken to Mt. Floyen was so pretty. Thanks for letting us do it vicariously. We went up Mt. Floyen on Boxing Day (still with the Advent Candles glowing) but Mt. Ulriken seemed a bit much for us with snow and ice on ground. Next time...
Snow falling gently from the sky makes everything more beautiful. I think you were wise to visit in the winter, because most tourist visit southern Norway in the summer. Which is nice of course, but I think you see a more unique side in winter.
The hike from Mt. Ulriken to Mt. Fløyen is highly recommended if you have the chance one day. It is really amazing that you have this kind of nature so close to a city. Also, it's wonderful exercise! (My legs ached the next day!) 😂
@@introvert-and-dog The snow wasn't exactly falling gently. It was a big snowfall with about a foot on the ground - and we were totally into it. Truly a winter wonderland, and it made the Julmarket even more special.

I fell in love with Bergen M.I, with those narrow passages some of them cobbled, with those beautiful, little wooden houses which seem straight out of a fairy tale.
Nothing more similar to happiness that those intertwined hands of Mr. J and you and Mochi peacefully enjoying her "snack"

Hello beautiful little family. Bergen is so beautiful, especially those colourful little wooden houses. It seems like the people there have strong communities because I saw a lot of little benches for people to sit and socialise, among the houses. Such a nice lifestyle. The Scandinavians remind me of the Elves in the Lord of the rings, kind of more advanced than the rest of "civilisation". I never realised how Norway has so many mountains, they are beautiful and majestic.
That cake you ate looked yummy. I'm Hungarian and wherever I go I have to try the cakes, I judge a place by how good the cakes are. Here in Australia there's a competition between Sydney and Melbourne, each one thinks they're better than the other! Give a kiss to Mochi for me and a cuddle to Savage, when you see him again. ♥

I love traveling as well, but coming home is always the best part. Mochi was so sweet, greeting you with such sincere happiness. Chester does the same with me-he runs up, cuddles, and then grabs his toy to chew on it furiously because he’s so overwhelmed with emotion. It’s always so touching☺

The mountain views in Bergen are the best. You should visit one day if you can. It is much better in real life, my phone can't capture the greatness.
Haha, Mochi often runs to get a toy too, just like Chester. They are always so happy to see us. This is one of the reasons I'm a dog person.

All my life I lived in a city on Mount Carmel. As I got older, I moved to a flat town. I usually walk everywhere, since I live in the center. I don't even use the bus. It's a great pleasure. No connection - Bergen is very charming!!! But how do the elderly get around?
It can get challenging for elderly to move around in winter because of snow and ice, and the steep hills. This is trule. But the city puts out salt or small pebbles on the snow to make it easier to walk on. Also, in Norway we have a special thing with small spikes to put on our winter shoes, to make it easier to walk on slippery snow and ice.
Bergen is a really great place, I was amazed. I miss Mochi so much. I'm a little depressed and your vlogs are like therapy to get you out of depression, believe me. Thanks a lot Mr I ❤

Thank you for sharing your trip! I visited Bergen on a trip to Norway 7 years ago, we stayed in a house in Klosteret :) I loved it and I hope I can go back someday! Also loved seeing how glad Mochi was to have you home, what a sweet puppy

Aww the look on Mochi’s face 🥰 Dogs understand more than we know. 💛 I went back home to take care of our parson russell one time when my parents were going away for a week. They left in a taxi for the airport, a white car with writing and decals. A few days later I heard our dog running around and barking a lot. When I looked out of the window with her I saw a municipality service car with writing and decals. She remembered the car and thought it was my parents coming home 🥹I told her she would have to wait a couple more days, realizing there was a lot more going on in her little head of hers than I could imagine 🐶

It’s astounding how observant and intelligent dogs are. They aren’t given nearly enough credit for this. They are so in tune with their surroundings and with recognising and interpreting the subtleties of our behaviour. I have regularly witnessed our dogs reading my thoughts before I’ve finished thinking them, and then reacting in anticipation. They even communicate telepathically with each other, when they are in entirely different localities in our home - if we sneak one dog a treat whilst the others are no where to be seen, it takes just a few moments for the others to appear! It’s uncanny - but after 40 plus years of having lived with dogs, I know this to be true.
So the reaction of your family’s Parson Russell to that Municipal vehicle is entirely understandable to me.

I goggled about Bergen and learned a lot of things. I started by checking if the origin of the name was related to the word mountain and ended up reading about the seal of the city and its history. Bergen was an important city in many ways! And the struggles between the kings with evocative names (Sigur, Magnus, Sverre, Hakon...), the Germans and the Hanseatic trade, etc, etc... It's like a historical movie in my head, I loved learning. By the way, it's in Bergen where Edvard Munch's grave is, right?

You are correct- Bergen has a long and interesting history (More so than Oslo which is a relatively new city). And because of it's location by the coast, it has always had a lot of contact with different countries. Before modern times it would in some ways actually be easier to go to England than to Oslo because you could go by boat and not having to cross the mountains to go to Oslo. (That's actually why I usually fly to Bergen. It takes only 45 minutes, but by train 8 (!) hours)
Ps! Evard Munch is actually buried in Oslo, in a famous cemetery here. He lived in the Oslo area most of his life. But maybe he has a memorial statue or something in Bergen, I'm not sure.

To be honest, I felt a little uneasy going up the mountain in the cable car. Luckily the ride was over in no time, and I could feel solid ground under my feet at the top.

I too had a very nervous time riding in a cable car, once in Switzerland and one in Colorado, didn’t venture off the mountain when I got to the top as my legs were like jelly. Best way to see and enjoy your mountains is via your fantastic videos, so thank you. 🐨 🐾

Raining 200 days per year in there was a surprise for me. It hasn't rained for long in Greece and it it is hot. Craving for rain and looking forward for Autumn's arrival.
