I needed this today. Although I have enough cashflow to invest, I still wear the technical hat. I keep accumulating, scared to employ people because I am a perfectionist and afraid they might not do things the way I want....O boy. I am so stuck in my mindset at the moment. I know I need to put that Business Owner hat on, and I can feel that there is so much more waiting for me...

So many things that you taught me have been instrumental in me taking huge risks and faith steps. I really do attribute a lot of my journey to the time spent trying to 'drink from your firehose'. Ok so your right on it now, Technician very selfish. This is a moment I have had - I totally get this comment, its what made me finish a business degree. It all came down to integrity, So now I am a captain in waiting as the 2IC of an ocean rather than CEO of a pond. God positioned me here, just as you say to spend more time in the next space. It's challenging to take on a much larger portfolio and when I question the Lord about this, I am reminded "God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful." 1 Corinthians 1:27

As someone who intends to climb this ladder, I really enjoyed this video and I'll be watching more from this channel. However, I completely disagree that God wants us all to climb this ladder. Not everyone is called to be an investor. The body of Christ is made up of many diverse parts. There are a lot of brilliant technicians who are best off remaining in that role, and there are a lot of small business owners who are serving God best by continuing to run their small business.
Thanks Wez. Very timely advice for me at the moment. I'm stuck between tech & owner & can't get enough sales to move up the ladder. I really enjoy working ON my business but nothing seems to move the needle much when it comes to sales. I wonder if I'm playing too small.
@@KingdomBusiness Having you ask that actually got me to think through it more & do some research. Here in my hometown I currently operate from my garage so my first thought was getting some commercial premises & becoming a full service event company e.g. hiring big marquees, tables, chairs as well as the audiovisual gear to go with it. I'm not super keen on that as I feel like any extra profit would be eaten up by rent & staff. I now strongly suspect that my business is just not well known in town so maybe I'd be better off throwing the money at brand type advertising.
I am so scared to employ my first sales person. And not technician. I am a tech. I can hire and manage tec and the job. But sales!!?? It’s going to have to happen. But it’s not going to self fund !!?? I can’t see it! What you think?
