Great interview! I love how he takes discarded items and make them works of art. He really lives by the motto one man's trash is another man's treasure. The nativity at the end was so beautiful.
I’m so glad that he had a vision to keep that property open. It is part of Gatlinburg’s history. I’m still amazed that it survived the fire. Thanks for the tour!
Jacob, thank you so much for sharing this experiance. As a Benedictine Monk from the Netherlands i will not be able to see this great exhibit. You are my guide to so much great stuff. Keep up the good work!
These are definitely some of the best wax figures I’ve seen
Those are some of the best dressed biblical figures I have ever seen! Mark has a real gift.
His dedication to his craft is amazing. I love the quality of his paintings, the light design, and him bragging about getting fabric on the cheap at Goodwill. 👏💟 Thanks for sharing this with us, Jacob.
I like how creative and thrifty he is. It's smart incorporate used items.
I love the story that was being told at the Manger Scene and the guy who was singing O Holy Night what a blessing
The manger scene was in incredible. The stars at the end was beautiful. The man singoing "O.Holy Night" WOW. THE timing of the lights and the man singing
When he held that long note and the light was beaming on Mary and Jesus. I said all that to tell you I cried and had goose bumps. It was so real like. 😂 happy tears
Thanks Carpetbagger..
Was wondering if vocalist might, in fact, be proprietor Mark? Perhaps not, but it wouldn't surprise me. His speaking voice alerted me to the possibility, as well as his artistic director's role, being the imagination/craftsman behind this attraction.
Wasn't it beautiful!! It touched my very soul.
Your friend Mark is a real artist. What he does with so little is marvelous. The Manger scene at the end of your video was spectacular. I hope you had a great time over the holidays. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
We with there as a kid . I loved it. Tell him to keep it going.
Just beautiful. ☺😊❤❤❤
Very nice. This man has a lot of creative talent. Thank you for sharing.
Love this classic attraction! Thanks for showcasing this amazing artist. Plus, this is the best (and cheapest) parking in Gatlinburg...

Truth on the parking
Great vlog. Mark Pedro's work is amazing.
Impressive. I really enjoyed him talking about all the figures and heads and how he reuses/recycles them, and it was neat how he remembered where all of them came from. The scene you showed us was really detailed. His creativity and hard work really show in the displays and his background paintings really helped set the scenes. A far cry from those places that put the wax figures in random clothes with a light on them and no set or scene around them and call it a day.
LOVE Christ in the Smokies / Christus Gardens. Artist, Mark Pedro and his lovely wife are some of the best folks out there!
Jacob, thanks so much for making such a lovely video and tribute to our dear friend Mark Pedro and all the insanely hard work he does! I, much like you, have always been attracted to passion projects. Those people who collect weird stuff, build their folk art in the middle of no where, create their taxidermy because it makes them feel good and more full. The blessing of Mark is that he does it for THE GUESTS. He is always thinking of what new story he can use his unique craft to tell and how it will inspire the visitors of museum. He always thinking about what new thing he can do to excite those who have been before - to return - and those who might have never been to invest their time so they one day too, can be a return guest. What he's created rivals, and often exceeds, the multi-million dollar "wax attractions" and that's my professional opinion. I am always in awe of what he's created and you can truly see that he is touched and guided by a higher purpose.
When he comes to Orlando next week to visit, I'm sure we will be talking for HOURS not only about wax museums but also your visit! And next time I'm in Gatlinburg we'll all go walk through MY FAVORITE : The World of Illusions (after a little Earthquake action...of course).
That last scene was just so beautiful! I'm happy he let you film that. LOVED IT!! Thanks Jacob!!
He's a true artist, I study religion...well, religiously, as a History buff, and I would LOVE to visit this Museum.
I am going to have to go back there and see it again. I like to see what changes he has done since the last time I have there.
The ending of that scene with the light shining on just Mary & Jesus & then fading with the music was really beautiful & moving.
Rewatching because we’ll be there in July! 😁👋
This was wonderful. This is my favorite Bible related Wax Museum, that you have vlogged for us. He is very serious about what he has done and seems to be extremely knowledgable. I was so impressed. Someday I so want to come to the South and see some of these wonderful places you have shown us, for myself.
I can never get enough of your videos. Love em. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas ⛄🌲⛄🌲
hello carpetbagger long time watcher 1st time comment ever here and youtube when i seen this i had to say how much i appreciate you covering this attraction i go every year sometimes just to support it. i love that you know mark ive talked to him before great guy this attaction is a blessing everytime i go. i even advertise it in my own ministry. never seen a behind the scene video of this attraction thanks for showing it . also thanks for the ark encounter and bible walk videos dont know if i will ever be able to see but ive got to experiance it through your videos. make more gatlinburg videos im homesick when i cant be there.
Very lifelike collection. They look like they stepped out of period paintings. Mark is very gifted and talented.
I enjoy these videos since I can’t travel it makes me feel like I’m there
Enjoyed this so much. Great video Jacob. Safe travels
Thanks Jacob and Mark
That was really lovely! I’m not religious and I was not expecting to be moved by the care taken to make the displays (?) respectful. 11/10: would visit! Thanks, Jacob!
I love this. I am rewatching lots of Carpetbagger goodness! 👍Thank you Jacob. Your videos always make my day! This man has done an amazing job. What a talented guy! My dream job has always been to create and work with wax figures. So fascinating!
Enjoyed the education on wax figures, went to Movieland Wax Museum once on Thanksgiving Day in 1989. I was newly married and had just moved to California. I was so sad when it closed. Jacob, thank-you, another enjoyable vlog.
Wonderful!!! So glad the name of JESUS is shared like this!
Hi Jacob the carpetbagger, wow what a wonderful attraction with sparkly and bright lights. Very pretty Christmas attraction by Mark Pedro👍🏻🧚🏻♀️⛄️
Great Christmas ending!
Very nice. Really enjoyed getting a behind the scenes look at this historic attraction. Thank you!
It really was beautiful!
Thank you for this video and others like it. I have a life long fear of mannequins and wax figures. Your wax museum videos creep me out so much but a video like this takes me behind the curtain and is highly informative. This guy is so creative and interesting. But nonetheless, a storage room filled with body parts and Thomas Jefferson in a plastic body bag is nightmare fuel.
I like this man and how he follows his own beliefs as to how these stories should be presented. Keeping it real, I guess.
Such a amazing video .. love ❤️God Bless
Great interview and videoing carpetbagger!Mark is very talented artistic gifted creative and is passionate about his work and it shows...Thanks so much for bringing us this wonderful insightful story behind the scenes look...Cant wait to visit! God Bless😊
I appreciate this man's artistic vision. He really seems to care about each little detail. I also really appreciate that he wants the figures to be dressed as authentically as possible. I think my only critique, which I suppose he couldn't control as these figures are donated, but their skin should certainly be darker considering where Jesus was from.
This is a great video Jacob !!!
Jacob you just blow me away with how you gain access to some of the places you go. You boldly go where no man has gone before. To reach out and explore new worlds.
I'm from California so I have been to the wax museum in San Francisco. Many good memories there! Interesting to find out that they took that out and replaced with Madame tousauds (?) spelled wrong I know, but very interesting anyway. The last supper was my favorite!🌟
I'm very g;ad that he buys old unloved waxworks and gives them a new life. I'd love to visit there and I am not religious at all but I adore the old hollywood movies that depicted biblical times. Good work!
This was super interesting! I work in the theatre/entertainment business, so I'm always fascinated by the behind the scenes type stuff. So cool!
Thank you so much! I've been there to Gatlinburg a number of times but never saw that attraction I would love to go. Thanks for sharing you did a great job on the video!
Very thankful that you were able to preserve a scene from this lost attraction. It's a shame they didn't allow you to film a walk through in one of it's last days of operation.
Oh wow... I have a photo of the Ginger Rodgers one from the Stars Over Gatlinburg days!
Merry Christmas, Jacob!
Great video. I really like the smaller, different, or strange wax museums. I'd visit this one and I'm an atheist. Also I know some attractions are understandably worried but you have never filmed a place that I wouldn't visit if I got the chance because I saw the video.
Nice work jacob....loved it.
Jacob, you are super lucky to have gotten to film the diorama's! Mark, when do I get to photograph them? LOL JK
Great behind the scenes look at such a thing! Well I'm a bit far from Gatlinburg, maybe someday!
This was a very interesting one. Mark seems like a great guy. I love the work he has done and will definitely be stopping in when I get out to Gatlinburg.
I do have to admit though, seeing all those heads behind the scenes was kind of creepy. It made me think of Return To Oz. LOL
Great vlog. Thanks for this gift
Awesome vlog I am definitely putting this and Gatlinburg on my bucket list. Merry Christmas from Texas.
Definitely going there next time I’m in Gatlinburg!
I hope someday my family and I will get a chance to see this in person . I'm so glad he at least let you film the story about Jesus' birthday . That is always a blessing . So thanks so much Mark for allowing Jacob to do that. I was just explaining the real meaning of Christmas to some of my grandkid last night. I was putting up some of my little manger's last night . I have at least three of them. I was trying to figure out where to put them and the grandkids was helping . We always let them believe in Santa Claus, but we do make sure they know the real reason why we celebrate Christmas. As they get older they understand the difference. Anyway.....Thanks Jacob the Carpetbagger for another great video . I know you don't like to talk to me , but that's okay . I hope you and your sweet family have a very Merry Christmas !!!
Actually a fascinating gentleman. I have always admired artist who could replicate human figures.
I'm usually pretty creeped out by wax figures, but your friend Mark has done a really good job with these. The fact that he thrifted a lot of the items is great as well! Seems like a really nice guy. I could listen to him talk all day :)
thank you so much for this one, always wanted to go and now I will next time I'm in Gatlinburg, thanks again
This was more fun than just touring the museum, cool dude too!
Reading the Bible won't give you this experience. Gotta love that performance of "O Holy Night." ❤️
LOVE the new holiday intro!!💖☃️ 🎅🏼
I have wanted to go visit this place. Thanks for the insight.
Details top notch
I went to the wax museum in Buena Park a bunch of times as a kid and I even still have a mug from there, and for the record, Buena Park is not in L.A, it, just like Disneyland are in orange county California.
Best video you done Jacob 👍♥🙏
"Yes, I was born in 1980 Hee Hee Snicker".... I Graduated in 1980! LOL!
My dreams have come true i really want to see it now
Your glasses lenses look so clean
Another good one, Jacob!
love all ya vids :D merry xmas to you and family too jacob :D
Did anyone else laugh at the irony of the Six Million Dollar Man getting busted up in an accident and needing to be repaired & put back together?
I love your intros
Love the bible theme vlog
I prefer to visit wax museums in the summertime. They have to keep the building cooler to keep the exhibits from melting, so it's a nice break from the heat.
The backstage tour was so cool. Lol @ not being above dumpster diving. I would love to see who he transforms tattoo bikini lady into! Guy's got skills.
This is so cool! I’d love to go see it. The Jesus at 13:24 looks like Paul McCartney to me 😂
It’s not Paul McCartney, it’s someone else, but it’s a secret :)
Thanks!
Used to go to Christus Gardens with my grandparents. Glad he is continuing the Bible theme museum! Very nice!
I was wondering exactly what this place was when I was there. I walked past it because the lights caught my eye.
That was so awesome video carpetbagger
great vlog tyvm. Seasons Greetings.
Funny fantasy museum featuring the water walking zombie.
I've always been curious as to how stuff like this was lit.
WOW ! l love this . Wonder if they give behind the scene tours ? I am headed that way !
Finest wax figures
Your friend Mark is very talented!!!
Thanks for sharing this I would like to go see this you were showing.
I had to watch this video allot because i got distracted.
I would of loved to see this.
Maybe christ in the museum will own the holyland experience wax museum.
beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool! 😇✨
There used to be a Smokey Mountain Passion Play somewhere up there, anyone seen it? I was always curious as a kid passing by.
Wow! He finally came back! Were you the first to spot him, Jacob?
