Apparently the 'Hai kazuma desu' was an ab-lib that the VA added and it became a thing that kept coming back. i love it
Brandon's face during the staff bit was an enigma, I can't tell whether he was edging with Megumin or shocked.
I really hope they noticed that the dullahan's horse is also headless xD
A refreshing thing about Kazuma is how normal he’s written, especially with what series were at the time (he has these moments at 2:24 to show that he does stuff offscreen and isn’t sterile, which makes him seem like a genuine teenager.) He has both good and negative traits, which fits his neutral alignment and color scheme (he treats others how they treat him, so he’s actually quite friendly with randoms in the town, shown clearer in the LN.) Adventurer is also perfect for him, as it allows him to use almost any skill or magic, but is balanced with having average stats and weakened skills and Magic (skills that scale off of Luck, like Steal and Snipe in S2E2, aren’t affected.)
As you noticed, yes the innuendos are intended with Megumin and Explosion (S1E10’s ‘detonate’ scene with Megumin is one that a lot miss.) 7:10 - It’s covered in the LN early on which she increases her skill for Explosion, so she does get better via stats/mana increases via level up, but it’s negated by the increased Explosion skill so she’ll always be in the negative for mana. The ‘Hai, Kazuma desu,’ was one of the ad-libs from the VAs and it was so beloved that the staff let the VAs ad-lib more for S2 onwards.

Its not about Megumin being better. All her skill point from leveling she puts in power of spell. Not stuff related to efficiency. Thats why she will never get better. Bc even if she gets more mana capacity or something then she overcharge this with more power to explosion.

I'm glad you guys at least gave this dub a small chance instead of just hating it before even hearing it like most people do.
You also opened my eyes to something I never really thought about before. The reason why some reactors never give dub a chance seems to be a result of fear of the community. There's a massive part of the sub community that goes out of their way to spread hate on dub even if it's good or at least decent like Konosuba. Since they are the majority, it makes sense that they could negatively affect channels with all that hatred. That's why even some reactors that would want to try dub reactions will never be able to. That's sad. Hopefully more reactors come along that are bold enough to face them.
They gave dub a chance? Are you being sarcastic or are you actually calling the one or 2 words a chance? They didn't even give Darkness' dub 5 words of a chance and even sub fans admit that she does a really good dub. The least they could have done was do 1 scene with dub. I mean, 1 word and they were already making fun of it. They knew they weren't going to like the dub and just did it to make fun of it for the sub fanatics who bash on any dub, good or not.
Most of them won't even admit that the Dragon Ball Z dub is far superior to the sub. Even objective critics find it to be one of the best dubs out there. I honestly don't know why they even bothered interrupting the show for a couple of words. I would have much preferred that they just keep going with the sub rather than break the flow up for the insult.
@@chb2551 I completely agree and I see where you're coming from. What I meant is that they even bothered switching to dub at all. Most dub haters literally never even hear a single word of the dub for a show before hating on it. Sure I also wished they actually gave the dub a solid chance instead of switching just to make fun of it but I can at least appreciate the fact that they did switch to dub for a brief second. Like I said it gives me hope that one day, they or other haters will switch to dub just to make fun of it and realize that it isn't that bad as they thought it would be.
I'd rather viewers watch dub to make fun of it than not watch dub at all. Because eventually they'll realize they're actually enjoying themselves and the dub hate culture will slowly be eradicated. Then reactors can watch dubs without fear of those people and the dub scene can finally begin to grow properly. Rightnow there is far too much negativity which is why it's taking forever to get better.
@@thefrickenchicken1417 Exactly. I saw a video, can't remember where now, where they had a group of people sitting on a couch reacting to see which they preferred, the sub or dub. Every video segment they showed, they had a hard time deciding as they were so close in quality. They were actually quite objective in their decisions.
Dub VAs have gotten so much better than they used to be, back in the day that the hate took off. Now, for most dubs, they're not bad at all.
Sadly, the Live Action market hasn't bothered to use anime dub VAs and they're still severely lacking in quality. Just watch Train to Busan in dub. A reactor to the movie made the mistake of reacting to the dub version of the movie. They had to have gotten high school drama club kids to do the dub, it was so bad. Had they spent the effort and money to get quality anime dub VAs, I know it would have been over 100x better.
In their comments they said they went back and watched the sub and it was immensely better and more moving and that watching the dub for the reaction was a mistake.

Nah you got to check out the dub for when darkness is interacting with the dulahan it is a 10 out of 10 laugh.
Yeah, they already had it in their head that they wouldn't like the dub and didn't even bother giving it more than a couple of words before they started making fun of it. Then they talked over it so that they couldn't actually give it a decent chance. They didn't even give it 2 sentences, let alone a full scene.
I mean, Darkness' dub sounds no different than the original. If you listen to her compared to the original, right beside each other, there's absolutely no difference between the two, yet they still say the VA does a bad job. They're clearly sub fanboys who do not accept any possibility that someone can do a good dub.
Sure, most dub isn't as high a quality as the original, however, that's *most,* not all. There are dubs out there that are better than the sub, but ones like them will never admit to that.
I'll admit the voices do sound worse in dub but The dialogue comes off a lot funnier in the dub. And I think the voice actor for aqua really embodies how dumb she's supposed to sound to people.😂
nah, Cristina Vee absolutely rocks it as Darkness. and Erica Mendez (as always) does an amazing job as Megumin. I honestly can't think of a single role she's done poorly
The colour schemes for the different characters are all signifying more than just the colour. Also, the golden edges of their clothing show they are part of the same team, which is pretty neat.
Darkness Dub is actually pretty good, in general it's solid but ya it's definitely not as good as the OG

Do not underestimate the english dub. Its really great, if you have time, listen to some scenes in english.
As a non Spoiler that is never brought up in the show:
Kazuma is the "weakest" Class of Adventurer, as the most basic and "weakest", it can learn any skill/spell
So like in this episode, he will likely learn many skills or spells
as of now he has: Steal and Create Water, along with Lurk and a couple thief skills
As someone who has been around the show and anime for a while, I would like to point something out. Although it could be a slight Spoiler.---
So, what Kazuma learned wasn't Create Water, it was the batch skill "Basic Magic" which contains Create Water, along with about 4-5 other spells. Whether we see them or not is up to the anime.
Too bad you guys aren’t sticking with the dub, it truly becomes top tier. The dulahan’s v.a is especially funny in this one.

As someone who discovered the dub first, I think it's probably one of THE best dubs. Kazuma's eng VA is perfect for me, kinda like Goku's eng VA. That said, anime react channels generally stick with and prefer subs and that's fine. Anyways, that's where most of the audience is at, and judging by the replies here, indicates that it's just not worth for viewership
