During the French Revolution, the Count of Liedekerke-Beaufort left his feudal castle of Vèves, fleeing to his nearby farm.
The Count expanded the farm until 1866, when the English architect Milner designed the castle we known as Chateau de Miranda.
Originally used as summer home, after WWII it sold to the Belgian Railway, serving as a resort for children of employees & later, as a private girls' school.
Eventually abandoned in 1991, only a glimpse of its former splendor remains...
An urban explorer heaven but guarded by a grumpy and trigger happy ranger....

Tout simplement un magnifique château qui se trouve juste derrière chez moi dans les bois!
I learned that the château was scheduled for demolition a few weeks ago. A Facebook friend of mine who has done some urbex videos of the place said that the demolition vehicles were setting up for the project. Very sad to see such a beautiful structure lost to history. The craftsmanship that went into building such a grand home is all but non-existent anymore.
Been looking for a decent video that showed the magnificent architecture and what was left of the interior (which you didnt show much) but even though just stills it was a very good look at it. Thanks

I was there 13th may 2015
It`s one of the most compelling places if been so far
If had a run in with the local Forrest ranger guarding the place..
But take some risks and it will be worth it..
As of this moment its not destroyed and no plans as far as i know.

Unfortunatelly, the protection is over and there is still no concrete project to restaure it. The owners of the castle now have all the right to destroy it. It is very sad to say because that building is awesome, but I can understand them. Now everything is to change in it. It will cost several hundred billions Euro to renovate it. And who will spend such money just to save a pretty castle who doesn't even have a great influence on Belgian culture?

You may as well go there with a sledgehammer and smash all the stone to pieces, that's what the demo guys are doing.

C'est un très beau château.
En Alsace nous avons de nombreux châteaux en ruines qui ont été détruits en majorité par les Suèdois lors de la guerre de trente ans. Certains châteaux en Alsace ont également été minés durant la première guerre mondiale pour qu'ils ne puissent pas servir de forteresse.

Non pas possible, c'est interdit. Le chateau probablement sera détruit définitivement en feb 2014.
supercoutere Les propriétaires ont introduit une demande pour le raser en 2013. jusqu'à présent, la commune leur avait refusé le permis et avait inscrit le château sur la liste du patrimoine en danger de Wallonie, mais le délais a expiré en février, et les défenseurs du château n'ont toujours ni projets concrets ni la somme pour le restaurer. On en parle régulièrement aux infos. Les défenseurs font vraiment tout ce qu'ils peuvent.
I went today. It is in Celles, Belgium. It is a restricted area and i was afraid to continue but I will come back. I want to see this beauty ohh. I live in Jambes, Namur and from my house there are 36 km so is very close to Namur.
