When people stop running away from disasters and problems and start seeing them as opportunities for engineering and problem solving, which the younger generations are really showing they're willingness to do, it makes a person not worry so much, when Seeing so much bad on the News every day.

The most amazing thing is that Jenny is just the start; give it 30 years and she will be seen as the system from which all plastic filtering systems are descended. By then they will be ubiquitous, the GPGP will be a manageable resource and Boyan's name will be spoken with the same reverence as those of Watson and Crick, Pasteur, Guttenberg, Marie Curie, Dian Fossey and David Attenborough.
When the Boyan receives his Nobel Prize we will be able to marvel that it took so long for his drive and determination to be the solution rather than the problem to be recognised on a scale comparable with that of the problem itself.

@@sirmeowthelibrarycat I have a wonderful happy tropical island life and yes I am making a huge difference in the amount of plastics getting into the ocean. There is nothing wrong with what the ocean cleanup is doing, it's just that much money could make a thousand times more difference if used to stop the flow at the source. Interceptors? Don't stop anything, the river trash boom does. The million dollar conveyor belt just tries to remove it. I think differently, sorry. My logic is put everything we got into the rivers, once the trash is stopped then go cleanup the ocean.Doing both at the same time is wasting time, many don't understand we are on the tipping point right now...

The ocean is all our responsibility and let's get all the country's on-board and all the fishing industry being more mindful and protective of the system so many count on for food and livelihood. Watching this video and looking through your website made me decide to donate more than I oroginally planned to.
When I first learned about the great pacific garbage patch around ten years ago, I didn't think it would ever be tackled by anyone. We don't have to look at it, it doesn't directly impact us in our daily life, so sadly almost no one cares. But instead of just adsressing what inconveniences you personally, you go out and do things, because they are the right things to do.
Not only do you tackle this problem, but your work can be held up to politicians and companies to ask: Why do private citizens have to deal with this, while you do nothing?
In fact, I think I will pose this question to my political representatives, we all should.

Love all this, it's amazing what you guy are doing, can't get enough of seeing the plastic flow into the retention zone, so good! When you are cleaning in full swing, you should put in a 24hr live stream of that, I would tune in regularly to see that. Another thing I'm interested in, I was wondering if you could do an animation of how the full cycle of cleaning and recovery might work? How long will a Maersk take to fill? Do you have a garbage collection vessel moving between the systems offshore grouping the collected plastic for efficient recovery and land transfer? Will you do line collection formations with multiple systems in high density areas? Anything to show how the whole process might work. Have been enjoying the journey since the start, can't wait to see more! Great Job!!

Congrats!!! Feeling so privileged that I could put my tiny dime into it! Cheering for you guys, you are amazing, hats off for your perseverance!
However, I wonder how you made the system refrain from catching the fish. And how will you solve the problem of potentially entering the zone of marine traffic with a scaled up system 3.. 🤔 Finger crossed for it to be just a huge success!!!

Great news!!!!! Now if all plastics could be made to float, that would keep them off the ocean floor and that of other bodies of water; making them easier to recover when needed.
