- It's not that hard to tap a Maple Tree to start collecting sap so you can make Maple Syrup. In this video, I'll show how it's done. This is also part of a series about making small batch Maple Syrup at home, so check out my other videos to see more.
Here’s the link to the article I mentioned: ohioline.osu.edu/factsheet/f-36
Interesting. I grew up in a small town in western NY referred to as the Maple City. Maple trees are a big deal there. Your channel came up in my feed so I popped over to check out the channel. I have subscribed to follow along with you. - Rick
Very cool - thanks for joining the party, Rick!
I clicked this right away!
Great video. It was amazing to see the sap dripping so quickly. Thanks.
Learned a lot! Looking forward to the next video in this series.
Thank you so much for this informative video. I've been studying for the Envirothon for the past few weeks and I've been using a ton of your useful videos. Keep making the great videos!
Cool! I saw an old Dirty Jobs episode in December on a sugar maple farm and I thought why not try this out on my trees. Unfortunately, I think I only have silver maples in my yard.
Hey Jeff - you can still tap Silver Maple, it just takes longer to boil and has a different flavor.
Very informative video! I look forward to see how this experiment works out.
BTW, I think you can safely tap the same tree more than once if it is big enough.
Hey David - yeah, I know some folks use double taps. I decided just to use one per tree because the trees I’m using a pretty small (around 13 inch diameter).
Great info! Could you link to the university extension video you mentioned?
Yes! Thanks for reminding me, I forgot to add that. It’s an article BTW, not a video. I just added it to the video description. Cheers.
