I never just turn in my leased car. If you just drop it off at a dealership, you are losing equity that can be used if you were to use the car as a trade in. I got $1,900 equity on my last car to put toward the new car. The dealer took it from me as part of the lease deal and put it on their lot to sell. My cars are always in excellent condition with low mileage when I turn them in. When I go anywhere, I park away from the other cars to avoid dents and dings on the car. The car is always garaged as well. Before I went to the dealer with my trade-in, I spent a couple hours waxing it. It's a good idea to put some elbow grease into it, chances are you'll get more for your trade if it looks good
Possibly yes, but shop it around a lot so you know you're maxing out its value. Not all cars will be in a positive equity situations, but I know a lot of Hondas can be in this position..
If you're getting retread tires, don't do eBay. Installation fees will kill any value. There are tons of used tire shops that include installation in the price.
Unfortunately for me, no pre-inspections due to COVID-19 for the past 120 days prior to my lease being up next week. Here I am now looking to RUclips for advice. Thanks for the video!
Have you ever heard of Lemon Squad? It is a new company doing inspections in your driveway. I heard about it on another YT channel. I liked the website when I checked on it.
ur videos are very informative regardless so thank you for doing that! What I wanted to say here I been leasing cars for years and never get charge for anything, recently I switched Nissan to Infiniti and my Nissan had 2 places minor dents and few scratches and stuff like that, they not even look at this so much, I never received any bills or anything every time I switched to another model, I am not making this up, 100% true! but ofc I was dealing with the same brand so its understandable, I am sure if I go to other brand most likely I will get charge, so what I am saying here if you dealing with same company u rarely gonna get charged or maybe I was just lucky! Great work btw!
I just decided to keep my car at the end of the lease, and want to share my experience to keep more money in your pocket. I contacted Hyundai a month before the end of the lease and discussed options including purchase. They said the easiest way was to go to a dealership and they would help to complete all of the paperwork. They told me my buyout was $14.5K which included state taxes. When we got to the dealership, they said the buyout was $15.2K, or $700 over what I was quoted by Hyundai. I declined and contacted Hyundai again. Seems you can buy your car from the finance company direct without $700 worth of documentation fees. Four pages of docs with 3 signatures and I mailed the check. I will have to go to DMV to transfer title, but well worth the savings.
Great info Ari! I always schedule the lease end inspection done and I always take my own pictures of the car inside and out just in case the leasing company tries to charge me for bogus issues that happen after i turn in the car.
Great video. I have a a year left on first lease vehicle and have some scratches on my hood I know I have to take care of prior to the return. This video was very helpful. Have to find a good body shop to do a lease return detail, etc prior to return.
Lease deals are amazing for the dealers, the customer is responsible for turning in a near perfect car with a certain mileage, and paying all “ownership” taxes and fees while you drive it. If the dealer can’t lose in this arrangement, guess who is!
Damn good information. Thank You for taking the time to put out this video. I'm sure that it has and will help out a lot of people navigate the potential mine field of a lease return.
Very good info and advice👍🏾 Sold my last leased car to Carvana and it was $3k higher offer than what two local dealers offered to buy the car, including Carmax. Incredible👍🏾
@@Monce08 No. I had to contact leasing company for the 10 day payoff amount for Carvana. They paid off the lease and gave me the difference by check at the time they picked up the car. Pretty smooth transaction.
My leased Audi A4 only has 20K miles on it when it’s supposed to have 36K miles at the lease end. I’m debating on buying it out with cash/check. And then sell it myself privately, as I really want an AWD drive for myself. I know the con-artist dealership ripped me off during the lease because I didn’t bother to educate myself or do research. Now I know about all these fees/overpriced unnecessary packages that these scumbags talk you into getting.
one of the best explanation i've ever seen, soon returning ny leased car, and i didnt knew about some things, but you really explained nicely, thanks! love your videos
thanks for the info, new to the channel, your info was spot on and direct to the point with great tips. I have a vw lease ending and this gave me better info than the lease maturity department on the phone...
Great Video! I turned in my lease the day this video was published. Wish I had seen it prior to visiting the dealer. I will say, on the inspection report they inspected noted I needed two new tires as they were worn below recommended tread. I decided to purchase 4 used, but in great shape tires and changed all 4. I did mention this to the dealer but I feel like I should've did a video walk-through of the car and tires. I hope mercedes doesn't charge me the lease end fee as I did lease another vehicle from them. However, these items were not discussed as we were sort of rushing to get out of the dealer. keeping my fingers crossed.
The lease on my '17 Sierra will be over in two months, truck is pretty clean and WAY under miles, it has a few scratches less than 2" big but what really worries me is the bed is really scratched up. I hope they dont charge me and arm and a leg just for that.
Hello, I have a lease with Toyota dealer. I got a 2019 Toyota Highlander and return an Avalon. When returning the Avalon I decided if I took another car or only return it without any cost. But now with this Lease at the moment of return if I decide not to take another car they would charge me $ 350.00 dollars. You've heard that before. Thanks for your videos. 👍
Ari- ive traded in leases with one month left and made $$ towards a new lease. Covering tax, tags and first. I keep my cars fresh. Ever heard of this? PS. Great work. I watch every upload.
Currently leasing a honda(with honda financial) have about 5 payments left. My question is when i turn the car in do i have to pay everything upfront or do i get a bill by mail? How does this work? Thank you.
My 2018 TLX has a $450 disposition fee and I’m going to be about 10k under miles and the car is in perfect shape but I fear they may hit me with tires and brakes when it goes back in 5 months.
When replacing tires, let’s say you only need 2, do you need the same tire brand or is OK to have different brands. ie. Hankook (front tires) & Bridgestone (rear tires)? appreciate the response in advance.
Thnx Ari. Nice video. How about fuel level: does it need to be full? And do you need to do the oil change before returning, if your car is about to get a new oil change?
How does it work if your car has a paint defect or body panel defect when you turn it in and it clearly isn’t damages from you, do they ignore it since it’s still under warranty when you turn it in?
Ari, help, I'm 2 weeks away from QX 60 Lease End and 4K under the 36,000 miles allowed, the tires are all very low on tread. I lease so I don't have to worry about wear and tear but Infinity uses bargain bin parts. (Also on my 3rd transmission w this car, as they they wouldn't give me a new car) ) Appreciate any advice.

Great video Ari! I have a question about the brakes. Do they usually check the pad/rotor wear or is it more of a “if the brake light is on it needs to be fixed” kinda deal? And is it better to change yourself or charge it on the bill? I have a 2018 Audi S4 and my lease is up next September. And also how about any damage to the front window? Like rock chips. Is it better to replace it yourself or have it charged on the lease return bill?
If the light is on, it's gonna be charged brother... I'd say get the car inspected first before replacing the windhsield/window.. See how much they charge, then get the quote. Also, the window companies may have a way to remove small chips... Just saying
