Thanks for the properly in-depth video! Indeed as it seems right now our next restock should be ready for shipping out to our retailers in a couple of weeks. 🤞🤞
Varusteleka is an awesome online store with lots of great equipment and I've never had any issues with purchasing items from them. Their prices are competitive, their service is great and their shipping is reasonable and expedient. Those are great looking bags. My only issue is that I already have so much gear(including lumbar packs) that I can't really justify purchasing more at this time. Thanks for the video and for sharing.
I bought one too. Really great quality. The main reason I bought it was that I can carry all the essentials for a short hikes on my hip now. The summer has been really hot here and a backpack would have made my back sweating in no time. When the fall comes I will just add the backpack with possible sleeping bag and warm extra clothing. I've got Savotta Jääkäri S with the 6L side pouches. That pack and Askare are a great modular combo.
Good overview of some very useful gear -- thanks! When I picked up a 30L pack with vest harness style straps, it was with the idea of using that for light/bulky items. The heavy compact gear and supplies would then go in a separate lumbar bag -- but the features I wanted didn't seem to be available in anything much bigger than 5L at the time. Even so, the modularity and comfort this setup provides is way better than any larger pack with a hip belt. So I'm going to be seriously drooling over the Askare before it becomes available!
Nice video. I really like Savotta. Their gear as well as production philosophy. They have always been somewhat thougher in Finland compared to here in Sweden. I have to admit that. It seems to be really nice packs. The only problem is that I definitely do not need any of them. So your video has made my life much more complicated 😂
Was wondering about getting smaller vs the bigger one. i made the mistake and bought the Jaakari S and always regretted not getting the medium. this time im getting the bigger one! Thanks brother.
Nice hip packs, Jess. I never tried using a hip pack along with a backpack. Looks quite handy. I like all the Savotta backpacks I've seen. Would like to get one someday. Thanks for the video. 👍🏻
Both look great. I've been rocking a "fanny" pack for an edc for a while now and really enjoying it. The askare looks quite handy especially with shoulder straps for a tight belt rig. Thanks Nate
YESSS, solid and slick I was literally just rounding out my fanny/manny packs as well haha these are way overlooked to carry you're essentials and keep your backpack weight down also less clutter rock on bro!!✊️🔥✌️💚
Interesting first look thank you, to compare with a chest pouch like a Helikon-Tex Numbat. Probably better when using other Savotta backpacks/pouches/....
Thanks! Similar concept to the numbat, but different method of carry. I think it would pair up with other gear just fine. Backpack would probably need to be around 30L or less, so it can be supported with the hip pack.
Oh nice! I'm getting rid of many of my older hip packs just so I can consolidate down - I have so much gear I often can't find what I am looking for. I have the Jaakkaari S and haven't used it as much as you, so I love how you showed us how yours is holding up, it does look new! They are great quality. I'd like to get the M at some point too for longer backpacking trips. The thing I thought would be the first to go is the waterproof lining - I thought it might de-laminate. But that's still good as new too? What pants are those you are wearing Jess?
The only one that I have with a side zipper is the Jääkäri M. The zippers and bags in general are all top notch. They build them to/above Finnish mil spec with a 5 year warranty. Really excellent gear that should last a lifetime.
Hi Jessie, I was wondering, have you used the portable chain saw much? I've tried a couple of them, and really didn't like them. With both arms cranking back and forth, it seems like they require a lot more effort for the same amount of cutting, compared to other types of saws. Thanks!
I like it as an extra saw, not my main. I primarily use a small Silky Pocketboy, with the Pocket saw reserved for larger material. It takes some getting used to, but they cut well. Key for me is using my body rather than just arms.
It's a nice little bag for the belt. I do all my stuff and little gear in the pocket of my jacket and it looks omg. What do you think about the 12 liter daybag Hatka from Savotta? Have a nice day 😎
Thanks! I have done that quite a bit, too with the jacket. I really like the hatka. It is just enough space for a day hike, but also really good as storage. 🤝
Can you a video showing much kit and sustainment (food/water) you can fit between the jääkäri M, Hatka and this new butt pack combined for a multi day trips ????
I will think about it. It really depends on the circumstances, location, season, etc. Between the 3 (M, Hatka, Askare), it is about 50L capacity, which is a little light for winter, but could work well for warmer weather. Additional sustainment pouches could be added on sides of M for more space, but at some point a larger pack is going to be more ideally suited for your goals.
Hip pack ? That the same as a fanny pack or man purse ? 😁 All bs aside it looks like they’re solid Jess . Actually shocked how much you had stuffed in the hip pack . More organized than the one I carry hunting. Have a great evening.
Thanks for watching everyone. The packs will be available sometime this month from either www.varusteleka.com or www.varuste.net

Savotta makes good stuff indeed. Thanks for sharing these!
Absolutely!
I sure love my Savotta gear! Backpacks, sleep pad, rain cover, chain saw, pouches, …
100%

Thanks! Yes, absolutely agree. Experimenting with this kind of setup can have some great results!
Savotta makes some serious equipment. I have an older LJK pack. All metal buckles, external frame. 1000D Cordura. The thing is a tank.
Yes indeed! The LJK looks like an interesting pack for sure.
Love Savotta gear brother! It will last forever and stay looking really good doing it!!

Thank you! Yes, their production philosophy is commendable. Also, I totally understand the complication lol
I love that Savotta stuff! I'd buy that pack but I already have so many...hip pack included, just different brands. Seems like top notch gear!
I know the struggle. I gotta thin the heard a bit myself.
Great review! Thanks
Thanks!
Savotta has some awesome Gear ! Great Vid Jess !
Thanks Spook! Couldn’t agree more.
@@EnduranceRoom Thinking I'm gonna try to get one or the other , thank you for the awesome review bro !
Cheers Jess!

No problem. They are both really nice, but the 7L is certainly capable of much more.
Very cool!
yo thats wild the hunter can just comfortably go over the belt. thanks for the in depth look!
It works pretty well like that.
Nice hip packs, Jess. I never tried using a hip pack along with a backpack. Looks quite handy. I like all the Savotta backpacks I've seen. Would like to get one someday. Thanks for the video. 👍🏻
Thanks Jeff. For me, the best part is the change in carrying. Its quite a bit different feel than a larger pack alone.

Nice size for Glock 26 or
GForce Rapture size pistols.
Good information Jess!

Lol gotta admit, I never thought I would be excited about a fanny pack, but dang... these are another level. Cheers brother 🤝
@EnduranceRoom I've got a couple but that mini Savotta has me thinking 🤔 they're also great for my communist state where we have to conceal carry 😆 🤣
Great Video mate! The inside out was really helpful! Dont know why they only Show outside Photos on their Website.
Nice

Thanks for the review! It's nice to see our local business expanding to the world over. Where'd you get that patch on the Askare bag? Super cool!
Thank you! Savotta makes absolutely wonderful gear. They were kind enough to send me the packs for review and included the patch. Cheers

TruSpec
Really nice pants. Found them on ebay
Nice waste packs, does your Backpack have a side zipper ? How well do those zippers hold up ? Thanks in advance

@@EnduranceRoom sorry meant backpack
@@broddireyrhansen1297 Ah, no problem. This backpack is 30L, with 12L day pack. Works well in the forest here with narrow profile.

The Finns make some good gear.
Some of the best.
weight?
empty Askare is about 1lb
Rhino rescue medical gear sucks and I wouldn't use it for anything but training.
