So, NBC is praising 2 people to represent parenting/mental health, while at least one of these people has and continues to use various drugs in his everyday life, both who have turned their backs on their own parents (excluding Doria, for some unknown reason), while verbally trashing and even publishing their one-sided perspectives. Additionally, these two "parents" who choose to be away from their children for publicity reasons, more than spending time with their children and yet the network chose them to promote parenting healthy kids. So, if Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotbe, or any of the other hosts spoke ugly about their parents or spoke about their drug use, would they be NBC hosts promoted as people who we should respect??? NBC just sank to a new low!

Princess Anne, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and other working royals have security only while on official engagements. Others like Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have always paid for their own security as they are not working royals. The only royals who have full time security are the King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales. As for their home, it was only leased and the lease was up. It was never theirs to keep. If they had continued to work for the British people they would still have “limited” security and Frogmore Cottage. If you give up your job, obviously you will lose all the perks.

Parents need to be active in firstly setting firm boundaries (depending on their childs age) on when, how and why to use social media. Secondly, parents (on an ongoing basis) need to educate children/teens to be critical uses of social media and/or other platforms in relation to personal values and natural consequences of positive and negative messages found.

My son drove the D.A.R.E. car to local schools for several years and talked with students about drugs and bullying. He said those years were the most rewarding of his life. The kids were very interested and wanted someone to talk with. My son is a great listener and the teachers told him he made a big difference in the lives of the students. But when the city needed to cut costs they cut the budget of law enforcement and of course the DARE program was the first to go. His wife, my daughter in law is a 911 dispatcher and has kids call the 911 line just to talk to her about bullying. These kids need to talk and their parents are either too busy or won’t take the time to listen. So both my son and dil spend as much time as possible responding to the kids. My son has put together an after school get together, on his own time, just to listen to the kids. It started out with 7 kids and has grown to over 65 kids so far in just 5 months. He is a great listener, as I said earlier. They don’t have children of their own so they feel this is their way of giving back. They will be so embarrassed if they know I’m talking about them.
Yah being a mum is most important, not your children are most important. Yah cutting your children off their grandfathers, uncles, aunts and cousins, hiding them away and leaving them for long periods while you are chasing fame and fortune, are good for their mental health. For real, God I never left my kids with anyone or go on dates unless it was as a family because I never want it to leave my kids. It wasn’t until now that they are 14 and 12 years old that I’m finally able to do date nights with my husband. As I mother I feel like I want my kids to be part of everything as we only have them for short times before they spread their wings. This two leave their kids all the time and it’s beyond me. Now I have to ask my granddaughter how certain apps and processes works, and it is humiliating. Not because I have to ask, but that I don't have the adult control that I know I should have. Thank you Access for sharing as much of the forum that you have. I have heard the second half. And it was also very thought provoking, educational, and gave me hope.
You don’t have to use apps. They only want you to use them to track your data. Just refuse to use them, use the websites or phone. And 13 is very young. You can stay in control by telling your grandchild to build self esteem from the inside and to stay off the apps, Meet real people, develop social skills and live an ethical life. Trying to beat them at their own game of enticing addiction is not needed. You are already healthy by not using the tech, you don’t need to devolve yourself to be a guardian. Just don’t play.
