Great video as always, Joe. I just tried this on my own and it's really good! The winning formula for me was a combination of the felt on the corners and one layer of label maker tape on the buttons and d-pad. The felt just made it a tad too stiff on the buttons for my liking but now it's perfect for me. Thanks again, you rock!
I did this on my RGB30 after seeing your video, and it was a big improvement! Great to see it works on this too, as I’d written it off for being too loud. I’m now tempted to try it on the RG ARC, since that’s been sitting in a drawer since I bought it because of the loud, echoey face buttons. The upstroke is louder on that too, and I had thought about using a tiny sliver of felt to cushion it but wasn’t sure it was possible. Good to see you got it working here! :)
I don’t mind the clickyness I actually like it. Specially on the road, the abxy I did try the electrical tape mod just to make it feel softer. I tried it on the road and I found that if I play like pokemon games if I hit left or right dpad it would activate the up or down dpad which is annoying so I removed it. Plus like I said the like the clicking sound of the dpad. But I do think we need a mod that separates the chip from the battery and maybe add heat shielding/thermal paste
The SP i got from amazon came with thin round felt pads on the L, R, volume, and power buttons. The one i got directly from Anbernic didn't come with it. So i put the same felt like yours on the dpads, shoulder, and face buttons on both devices. But not on the select, start, and menu. They dont just make it quieter, they shorten the throw and tightens the fit of buttons on the shell. I also put felt on my Retroid Pocket 3+ L2 and R2 buttons.
Thank you. It did help, it's like 25% quieter now. Enjoying the device but have to tinker alot on knulli, especially the fantastic bezels and shaders from the original OS... cant get it that perfect like it was there....
@@kadupse Thank you. I got it yesterday done. My next thing that bothers me is the poor dreamcast performance. The orginal OS is fine, knulli is barely playable. So trying to get maybe the retroarch cores from orginal OS to Knulli? Just to test if it helps... Tryed the Retroarch core updater but with no luck... says cant update core list or something similar...
this is an impressive video, mate. I'll be giving this a go myself when I can find the flipping adhesive felt I bought for my 3D printed gameboy support jig I designed (nothing as great as yours). Only used half of it and I know I put it somewhere safe... :)
A revision because of the sound of a button? Wth? Who on earth even cares about the noise a damn button makes? People pay hundreds of dollars to have loud and clicky buttons in their keyboards.
@@rolux4853 half of the videos about this damn device are button mods for the click. Just because it doesn't bother you personally, doesn't invalidate how others feel about it. More important than that is cheaping out on components to make the device charge safely and idiot proof.
I thought the noise would bother me but when playing a game I don't notice it, they're drowned out by the game. If I was using headphones people around me would probably be annoyed though. The rattling you did with the felt I might do though.
I will personally destroy whoever started the trend of putting those tactile switches in as buttons on these things. Cannot stand the constant clicking, had to mod my backbone phone controller because it was driving me crazy...
I just did this mod and man, felt is not the answer. I bought adhesive felt from Hobby Lobby, and it was utter shite. The brand is tree house studio peel & stick felt. It made a mess of fibers everywhere. I feel like my device would be better protected with electrical tape rather than felt. Electrical tape has that nice rubber-give. The felt isn't dampening the sound much either. If you have a nice quality felt like the one you used in the video, sure that may work. But everyone has a roll of electrical tape already in their house
Ahh I am sorry it didn't work out for you. I must have been lucky with the felt I used, not had any problems like that and it dampens the sound nicely.

I've yet to delve into the CFW options! Seemed a bit complicated so I need the time to sit down and set it up properly.
