I have owned DCS now for about a month. I have purchased two aircraft. The Apache and the F-16C Viper. Both are superb models. The problem is the learning curve. So far I just about have my controllers bound correctly, figured out where everything is and which keystrokes are critical. A month just for that. I have watched so many video tutorials that I should be an instructor myself by now! lol But that's where the fun is. Anything that you have to commit to and peel back layer after layer will give you pleasure for years. Then I see guys like Casmo who make it look like an arcade game and I just have to bow in the presence of a Master. I will be there one day, just not today
Awesome to watch such collaboration with a campaign. Still learning the Pilot seat in my Apache, and loving it. Good editing to keep the action interesting.
Nice mission. Unfortunately when you don't deal with a garbage, made up enemy, when it is "real" these fancy helicopters become just flying artilleries. As Casmo says at the end, humans in Combined Arms help a lot and if you can imagine a longer online war game where real strategy and real players take on the ground forces in a difficult terrain... and each smart missile costs... add some Bad Social Media Karma Points to each missile fired inside a populated area... and it gets really "complex" :D
Casmo, great video's. Thank you. I am back on twitch just so I can watch your longer form videos there too. A suggestion - it would be good to be able to see the Multi-Purpose Displays a bit more often when flying - especially when hunting / locating the enemy and firing weapons. Hard in daylight missions I guess. Particularly appreciate your Tutorial videos. I know you say your not great at tutorials but I cannot agree....the paragraphs of Acronyms used by others (a barrier when first learning) is all brought together by your method of delivery. Please keep making the Tutorials too.
Very good video. With so many threats in the area maybe change in tactic can work? like one longbow from distance and one popping up releassing HF on high priority targets? Will that work in DCS?
Not sure if it's a security topic that you can't touch in any detail, but if you're getting a SAM launch, assuming the system is auto-dumping your countermeasures, is there a "rule of thumb" maneuver? I assume the basic start is "dive down" to get as much terrain between you and the missile/radar but do you want to fly at the missile while dodging, away from it?
Missiles don't go through ground clutter which is why one wants to fly tree top level. There are two different kinds of sensors. One is radar. Russian/Chinese missile radar works by tracking objects coming to or away from it. If one is caught out in the open, one wants to fly perpendicular to the missile when dropping chaff. There are many counter measures against IR such as blinding it with the disco ball or putting the hottest object between the missile and the target. Russian SA radar have filters to prevent things like flocks of birds from showing up on radar. To exploit that filter, on can fly 15' or lower at 15 mph or less.
I stayed on sp for a long time because i dident want to screw up on mp. but i made the jump and it was so worth it. Hope to see you on some mp server 🍻
What app / system do you use for comms to give the "effect" of radios? Is that the inbuilt dcs comms? We use discord, never got around to trying SRS. But this sounds amazing.
The reason for not using auto is that it's not particularly accurate ranging (based on angles/height to terrain) and the estimated range keeps changing so it's difficult to hit anything. 800 is a decent average value for where you will see and engage something with the HMD, and as it isn't changing you can shoot then adjust the aimpoint based on the impacts. You can't do that on auto.
@@laserdan I was assuming that if you were lasing the target then AUTO mode would be the way to go. But now I think further as the pilot can’t lase, then typing a manual range makes sense, while the CPG can (or perhaps should?) use AUTO mode. Have I got this right?
G'day! I'm curious if it's a DCS thing or an Apache thing: when I'm entering a Direct To in the TSD, my pilot doesn't get a new fly-to waypoint in his IHADSS. Is this just a de-sync issue?
Why do I constantly get SAS Saturated warnings? I noticed your green bar goes outside of the box on the collective a few times and you never get the tone. What am I doing wrong? It's so annoying that even with the volume down it is driving me nuts. Once I trim the helicopter once it constantly beeps no matter how I'm flying. It's made it unenjoyable for me at this point.
@@smithysmith2599 perhaps. The Apache allows for more interesting scenarios whereas the hind is somewhat limited. It’ll be a while before I circle back to it.

These are my favourite videos without question, especially the realism of it all. Love it all Casmo.

Awesome content! Thank you very much for showing us how the real stuff is made.
Excellent work. Very informative and entertaining. Thank you for your continued hard work. 👏👍
Man I've got to get good at that front seat. Looks like a lot of action!
its really interessting to see, that you put a lot of cyclic and pedal input but you never touch the collective. i will try it today on my missions.
Thanks for sharing this here :)

Come fly on DDCS some time!
Good times! Great vid
That was awesome!
sometimes the altitude is shown on the hud, near the right ladder, and other times it vanishes... why is that?
If it exceeds the radar altimeter it goes away.
Suggestion: if at all possible if you have access to any tads footage from when you were operating apaches would love to see it on your channel

Do you know what that little compass thing is in the bottom left hand corner of the cpg seat and how to erase it?

SRS is what we use.

@@Riverman68 SRS is great. I wish DCS officially implemented the mod. Their voice chat is decent too, but SRS is better
Casmo, does the real Apache do the wobble after a speed of 125 like the DCS Apache?
If the answer isn't classified, why did you choose manual ranging to 800 yards instead of selecting Auto?
1500 is excessive for an HMD gun shot
