Brendon has been doing this since the beginning of Panic (lowering the key so he can be more comfy) since Panic's bangers are hard for him to sing in the original key. But I can't deny the difficulty broadway has to offer.
So I’m in a regional production of Kinky Boots and there is an “alternate key” that the score technically uses. And while it also helps the lead, it’s also easier for the ensemble to sing that beautiful backup especially since you can’t really see the conductor since it’s being sung “off stage” (behind the wall). So it’s a lot easier for the ensemble to get that sound at the slightly lower key (Eb instead of E).
Honestly Brendon is perfect for Broadway like he was fit to do it because his voice is so high like Idina Menzel like if he would go on Broadway again I’ll be happy for him because he deserves to be on Broadway like the soul of a man he is (pun intended)
Cant tell if you’re joking or not lol Idina is a mezzo-soprano who can belt E/F5 lol whereas Brendon doesn’t even a make male tenor, maxing out at like A/Bb4. Their vocal ranges are so completely different. No one is ‘perfect’ for Broadway just because their voice is high. It requires years and years of singing lessons working on a vast array of techniques and devices to use vocally. Not to mention the years of training in general it takes to be a theatre or musical theatre performer. Saying someone is perfect for Broadway just because they have a high voice is like saying someone is perfect for playing football just because they can kick a ball. Ridiculous lmao
@Ofra Cohen fair enough you’re right just seen videos of him belting into the 5th octave. But if you see him singing live videos of soul of a man in kinky boots he really struggles to hit an A4 smoothly at all. He suits quite a distinctive style which is like a heavy rock/pop genre but he’s not suited to play any musical parts or anything on Broadway his voice doesn’t resonate with musical theatre at all.
@@iracatantan5357 that's not true. There's plenty of rock scores on Broadway. Hair. Rent. American Idiot and Jesus Christ Superstar just off the top of my head
UGH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I’ll never forget how he belted out this song. *Shame on you for filming* I guess but I freaking love that I can finally relive this!!
@@gdmya I actually meant that, at least in this clip cause I havent seen the show, he looks like he's playing himself and singing in his usual style in concerts
Stark Sands is STILL BETTER at this song than Brendon is, HOWEVER, I ❤️ them both in the role, and singing it half an octave lower (how Brendon is singing it here) is MUCH EASIER than how Stark sang it. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Brendon's "pop vocal run" however on the final "What else could I do?", that was his original spin on it. And that last note is a KILLER; I often have to riff it myself to get it out.
Stark and Brendon are amazing on their own, Stark's version fits his own personal range and is a banger. As for Brendon, he could do it casually but he tends to lower the song's key live so he could be more comfy and preserve his range. Brendon has an absolutely angelic voice and so is Stark, absolutely phenomenal in my personal opinion.
Lordy I’ve got such a crush on this man and hearing him sing on Broadway makes my knees weak. He’s just such an amazing vocalist
i’m obsessed with this video and brendon’s voice
Shows how tough Musical Theatre is - even the mighty Brendon had to take this down a semi tone to sing this 8 times a week.
facts!!! but still, bloody brilliant 👏 ✌️

@@andrewleeadkins93 Actually, the ensemble usually has a screen backstage to see the conductor as well
He’s honestly perfect for Broadway with that voice and how theatrical his shows always are
Whoever filmed this got a great spot
He has a beautiful voice!

I feel the same. Shame for filming, but it takes me back to the moment.
Please put B back on Broadway. 😭😪❤️ I miss you B please come back
Man this comment hurts now
너무너무너무너무 좋다
Just saw Kinky Boots local production at a local music theater
None can compare to this performance by Brendon Urie So sad I couldn’t go
I personally think that Stark Sands beats Brendon Urie but I do agree, he is pretty good
it must be so embarrassing that fucking Brendon Urie bodied the entire "Mean Girls" musical movie with just one song
when the broadway show turned into a P!atd concert tho lmao you better SING IT BEEBO
It was never a P!ATD concert, theatre has their own etiquette.

Noooo the mic fell out of his perfect hair onto the biggest forehead in the world
Link to kinky boots please
Does he have a microphone on his forehead?
Yes
yeah that's usually how they attach microphones in musicals and plays because they move around so much
When was this from?
when he was Charlie price in kinky boots on Broadway.
Do you have a slime tutorial for the whole thing?
I’m asking the same!!
Did he play Charlie with an American accent?
No just most singers with an accent or not use an English accent when singing
I mean- he is American, so I guess so?
@@Eli-dn4qr yes, he is.
No he played it with the English accent. He had to learn how to do that, they gave him lessons

It’s down a semi-tone (half step). Nowhere near a half octave
He __ a cute artist, really not really
who even is this guy?
He's the lead singer of Panic! At The Disco
Brendon urie
Why i rejected brendon,,,When in reality he __ an boring type..🤨,,there only want to be hurt by s_r_, as that result he are never gonna be it
