Hey it’s ya boy just saying hello. Hope you are all well. Hunkering down for the summer f*ck season!!! #abraxas #pipe #piper #smokingpipes #jesus #satan #ytpcpipecommunity
I had a cheaper old boy style lighter that started leaking butane after about three weeks. It got so bad that a fill would only last about half an hour. The gas cover was also twisted to the side. In short, it was junk. Moved up to the Peterson. Worked okay, but when the flint gets well used the wheel locks up. Can't light a pipe when that happens. Cleaning it doesn't help. The only thing that works is to thoroughly clean it and change out the half used up flint. Decided to get a real Old Boy lighter. The wheel turns like a dream and produces great sparks until the flint is all used up. To me that's a plus. It usually lights on the first strike. At worst it lights on the second turn of the wheel. The Peterson lights on the second turn (if you can get it to turn) but usually requires several attempts before it finally lights. Not a plus. You may call the Old Boy dainty, but the damned thing works every time....which saves on butane. I've had no difficulty lighting the deepest bowls with the Old Boy. That fact and the fact that I don't wear a callous on my thumb make it the clear winner in my estimation. I recently thought I'd lost it and ordered another just like it. I found the original, so now I have two. I occasionally go back to the Peterson, but the frustration of dealing with a lighter that continues to lock up the wheel always leads me back to the Old Boy. It's a bit more expensive than the Peterson, but, to me at least, it's well worth the money. Having to remove the cover from the fill port is a bit of a drag, but I can live with it. Like I said, the Old Boy just works every damned time. With me that's what counts, regardless of whether or not the cover flips all the way back. It's a pipe lighter, after all!
@@user-rn4tx4iw8y nice summation, man! I’ve had that problem with the lock-up on the Peterson when the flint is low. It usually always lights on the first try for me. And yes it’s a biach to clean, which is why I just let the carbon buildup just happen. I still think it’s an overall better lighter. I’ll never forget when that wheel cover broke off my first old boy… kinda tainted them for me. Now I gotta get a kiribi… thanks for watching.
@@mushroomleg Glad to hear that your Peterson's is working for you. Mine works, but only when the flint is brand new. Even then the wheel is tough to turn. Maybe I just got a lemon. The Old Boy, on the other hand, turns like a dream. If it weren't for the sparks it produces you'd think there was no flint in there at all! Maybe I just got a good one! One thing is for sure; the Xikar was a real dud. I thought about taking advantage of Xikar's lifetime warranty, but I figured that after paying for the reverse shipping and the turn around time it just wasn't worth it. I've read reviews that indicated that this was the case. That's why I went for the Peterson. Oh well, I still find them more dependable than the lighters that use the piezo sparking system. Just my experience. I did like your critique though. Thanks for your reply. Les Lannom
@@RelaxedpiperRUclips Corona is a nice sexy coffee table lighter. But the Peterson is an on-the-go that can take a beating and keep performing beautifully. It’s in my bosom pocket as I type this!
Good Morning 😊 Beautiful Housekeeping 😍 Thanks for the comparison on the lighters 👏🏼Wish you luck with that 😉🤞🏼 Have a lovely day & Greetings South Africa 🇿🇦
"There is a real Michael Schumacher Ferrari in my store! A real Ferrari! Punch me, Guido! Punch me in the face!" LOL. I prefer the tank. Good luck with the menus. You need more jams!!
I’ll check one out next time and let you know, tincan. I’ve heard NOTHING but good things. (I still stand by what I said in this video: Corona is for the coffee table, Peterson is on the go with me as I type this). Thanks for watching.
I'll take my Peterson all day every day over my Old Boy... The OB feels like I might break it by accident while the Peterson feels like I couple ping it off the forehead of my enemy and would be no worse the wear... Also that flip all the way back feature of the Peterson allows me to use it to light jar candles if that is the lighter I have in my pocket... The OB won't go into the jar enough because the raised lever makes it impossible... Food for thought... ^_^ Great video as always...
a lighter from a gentler more elegant era, the Old Boy. i'll have to get around to trying that St James Flake. right now i'm experiencing and experimenting with Sweet Birch flavored tobaccos, another thing from days gone by. i'll let you know how it comes out. The Horror of Party Beach... haven't thought about that in a while.
I’m just glad someone acknowledged horror of party beach thank u. It’s cheesy, but then again so is pizza! Plus I love that “do the zombie stomp” song in the movie.
@@mushroomleg ive had an petetson lighter in my cart for almost a year but haven’t bought it yet. My reason is that I am very hard on my toys and break everything or wear them out! So I just stick with my clipper pipe lighters and break those regularly. If I do get one I need to remember to not take it from my desk and go out and about with it. I think that way it will last
Yeah death wish fuels my days. That and liquid death water. Lot of death intake! Lol. I’m an exec chef at a yacht club on the lake in cleveland Ohio. Thanks for watching. Hopefully u dig the rest of the content.

@@mushroomleg you're welcome!
Super useful content, thank you! Do you have a Kiribi? it would be cool for you to do a series of head head comparisons on lighters.

Interesting, I have an old boy. Might have to try getting a Peterson too. Happy smokes
Thanks for the video! 😊👍
I’ve been looking at both of those lighters for a while now. I think you’ve settled the debate in my head though. Peterson it is! 😎👍
You’ve been CRUSHING IT on RUclips lately man and your enthusiasm is infectious! Thanks for all the great content. Glad i helped inform a little bit.
@@mushroomleg Thanks! Really been enjoying the YTPC! Everybody has these great stories or something to share.

I don’t have either of these lighters but I now know which one I should get for when I do go shopping. Thanx!
Happy to help Billy. That’s really all I care about at the end of the day.
