I always look forward to the part where you show what the car can do, Please dont stop showing that, who doesn't enjoy smashing the pedal once in awhile.👍
True classic! I had a couple 280zx's growing up. First was a 79 280zx 2+2 manual white with burgundy interior. Second was an 82 280zx Turbo 2 seater auto silver on black/gray interior. The 82 turbo Z was an awesome car. Wish I still owned it.
My highschool sweethearts parents had an 83 Z Turbo. I ran errands for them a lot. I almost always got to drive the Z! It did the absolute best tire smoking donuts! And I love resuming cruise control. A little pause and then BAM! The turbo would kick in. Fun times in 85 and 86. I even got to take it to my schools car show!
Great walk down memory lane. The 2+2's were rare even back in the day, let alone a 5-speed! Never understood why anyone would even consider an automatic trans on them.🤦♂️ Anyway, great car and great video. 👍😊 Thanks!
I had an '81 non-turbo 2+2 just out of high school. I wish I still had it today, some 30 years later. It was a project car I picked up cheap. I was able to get it running and on the road, but was not skilled enough to keep up with the inevitable rust, and the car pretty much fell apart .... Such great memories for sure. And even my normally aspirated ZX would out run Corvettes of that era ...
@@christianbugatticg They sure are getting up there in price .. I can buy two similar era Corvettes in good condition for the price of one '78 280Z in good condition LOL
I bought one exactly like this, a 1983 280zx Turbo with the GLS package, same color with the pinstripe, for $900 back in 2009 off a guy who owned what was BeaveRun Race track in western Pa. Original owner with the window sticker. My brother ended up backing his truck up on top of it, destroying the bumper, headlight, the hood and the distributor cap all of which were next to impossible to find back then. I ended up selling it for like $500 to somebody, but they found that the unibody was effectively rotten through and through.
Dude, you did not abuse the car. It was meant to run. Awesome to you and thank you for the ride. Seriously, I would have loved to have heard you go through the gears on that baby until you had to lift; the car was designed for it ... I will tell you this, the brakes on that car will not stop you (figuratively speaking) at 110 mph. You better have plenty of run-out, but that car will take you there.
I love the sound of the L28, the idle is so beefy for a 2.8 Takes me right down memory lane, I daily drove a 78 280z for years and also drove it across country. Eventually swapped in L28ET too, so much torque for what it is. In 1982 the 280zx turbo was the fastest automatic transmission car sold in the USA , but the manual one was a few ticks slower. I dont think the ZX could beat the C3 vette in 1983 though. Regardless, they are awesome cars, the feeling of speed is more important than the actual speed. Kindnof amazing how 7.5 seconds 0-60 was blistering in those days :)
The turbo was quicker and faster than a vette. I had an 83 2+2 turbo, auto...it was a dog off the line. I found an 82 turbo 2+2 5 spd.. several years later...it was a much quicker car due to stick.
Not a fan of the 2+2 but that's a great looking ZX. I owned 2 in high school. One died of frame rust. The other I kept till I got back home from the military and sold it because I bought an '88 300ZX in Super White.
LOVED the 88's in white! I am about to list an 81 Turbo 2 seat with only 30,000 miles. White with red interior. Keep your eyes open! And I actually already have a walk around video if you search my videos.
Wow i had that exact same car same radio mine did that with the display as well i guess that was a common issue with the Datsun 280ZX, i thought it was interesting the presets was 1 to 5 AM 6 to 0 FM

You got it!!
...this stunning 280ZX looks better than new...a beneficiary of a truly dedicated restorer...
...a fabulous driver for any Z-car collector...

I have a same car for sale
You have a good review of this model, I had an 81 auto, and the sound of that turbo was so lovely. Automatics seemed to suit the turbo.
Thank you! I always personally preferred the stick!
That's if the timing was advanced and a lower rear gear was installed. Car/Driver claimed a 0-60 in a tire smoking launch...
I had a non turbo with a slipping clutch and was slaying everything around!
Lol! Fun times!
I've been losing motivation to get my 1982 280ZX running, this video got me inspired again. Please make more vids on the Datsun!
Awesome! Get it going!

Really hard to find nice ones now.
That’s awesome to see how it’s in mint condition and all original! I love it brother!
Thanks!
@@christianbugatticg no problem man!
Watching this video...if you take the door panel off, there are adjustments to angle the window which will get rid of that noise

Wonderful car.... I love it ❤.
Best regards from the Northern black forest (Germany) 🌲🌿🌳
Hey thanks!!! I appreciate that!
My first was a 1978 280z. I bought it in 1985 for $8500 with 29800 miles. Everything worked.
If we could only go back!
I wish they were only that in mint condition but they go over 20 grand now

That looks like such a fun car
It was for sure!
Love the 38 Special period music.
Nice, huh??
Who cares about speed when the car sounds that good while running through the gears...
True
Damn, that thing is sweet. I’m sorry I missed the sale
Yes, sorry you missed it. I look for these all the time but rust free examples are SO hard to find!
I think it would be very interesting to see Bill demonstrate the five stage paint correction. Thank you,
And I may just do that! Great idea!!!!
