    HI Keith; Do all Paccar powered 587's have the shorter 117 BBC or is the longer hood an option? Thanks much for the vids talking about these things!

    • @RockyMountainPeterbilts
      @RockyMountainPeterbilts  3 года назад +3

      Depends on the motor selection. 117" is only available with the PACCAR MX-13, If you go to a Cummins X15 you must go with the 123" hood. Just has to do with the physical size of the motor. Thanks for the questions!

    Does Peterbilt have plans for a midroof ultraloft setup? I would be interested if they come out with a midroof. We run flatbed and don't have a need for the full highroof. Thanks

    This Peterbilt has a DAF Truck engine (made in Holland) which is named PACCAR. PACCAR is an owner of the truck manufacturers DAF, Peterbilt and Kenworth and that's what she does very well. But a Truck builder or making engines ... ? ..... No way.

    • @RockyMountainPeterbilts
      @RockyMountainPeterbilts  4 года назад +1

      MX-13 is built in Mississippi, USA.

    • @47rintin1
      @47rintin1 4 года назад +1

      @@RockyMountainPeterbilts Of course. The DAF MX-13 is built as well in Brasil and there it's called PACCAR as well. But it's DAF technology. DAF is building engines since the 50's. It was the first truck engine with turbo inter cooling. In 1992 the Austrian government prohibited trucks which made more sound than the silent DAF.
      Make yourself one question: Why are European truck builders on 5 continents and American truck builders just on1?

      Jan Ligthart that’s cool and all but word from my brother he’s been driving a 2016 kenworth t680 with a paccar and a 10 spd he told me that it’s had problems in the past also pretty slow on the hills although they’ve been in the game for a while I read comments saying they don’t have issues. but from people I’ve spoke to on the road 90 percent say don’t even look at a paccar engine

    • @leftlanekr2295
      @leftlanekr2295 4 года назад

      Jan Ligthart I’ve also asked myself that question correct me if I’m wrong but our rigs are too long for most countries limits. Also from what I’ve seen there’s also a lot of American trucks in South America also Seen quite a bit of kenworth’s and Mack’s in Australia

    • @47rintin1
      @47rintin1 4 года назад +1

      @@leftlanekr2295 I lived in Brazil for a while and traveled there a lot. The only truck brand from the US there is Ford, which is dying there. So over there I didn't see one Kenworth, Western Star or anything alike. Yeah, I forgot about Australia.
      The Big Three in Brazil is Mercedes, Scania and Volvo.

    You lost me when you said paccar is a good engine

  • @robertbrown6933
    @robertbrown6933 3 года назад

    I have a paccar engine. DON'T BUY IT. Electrical connections on it are shit and will stop you from driving at the worst times, everytime. The aftertreatment system is a joke and what causes most of my shop visits. Usually 2 to 5k per visit. Don't let anyone tell you that they have come a long way just buy the later models. They are good for the first year or so. Thats it. My idle time is 13% which is extremely low yet I have nothing but trouble from that aftertreatment system.

    • @badeiser
      @badeiser 3 года назад +1

      The after treatment system is a Cummings product. There is no difference between the after treatment system on the MX to the Cummings same system.
      I have a MX EPA10 model. Considered by everyone including myself to be the most unreliable and maintenance intensive of all of the MX models produced. 95% of my problems were cured with a Thermo king Tri-Pak APU.
      Do you not get any of these trucks with the modified idle system always insist on a Tri-Pak APU. Idling these motors at all kills the after treatment system.
      I have not had a after treatment related repair (outside of regular maintenance including DPF filter cleans and DEF filter replacements) since I installed the APU over two years ago.
      It runs me approximately $3000 a year to have the after treatment system inspected and cleaned once a year. Don’t cheap out on the maintenance or these things will eat you alive with repairs.
