After seeing and hearing this, I feel like I've been transported back to the early 90's when I was young and full of life... ...and music had feeling and the lyrics gave it meaning.
such a fun song to cover and their studio version turned out beautiful. Todd's production on it has me really excited for the new Toad record that is on the way

He took time off from the band after the fall but once he healed up he found it difficult to continue drumming on a full-time basis because of the continuing bone pain he suffers. He enjoys retirement in Santa Barbara and occasionally teaches drum lessons to students.

@@taylorh4480 yes, thank you. I actually did know that he had that condition. I am sad to hear about the fall though. That could’ve gone very badly . I think the fact that he played as long and as well as he did on such a physically demanding instrument says a great deal about his strength of character as well as musical talent.
Toad doesn’t get enough credit for just how great they are! Very underrated, especially in musicianship! ❤❤❤❤❤
Been doing my best to educate the masses for over 30 years.
REM was a brilliant band.
My favorite band from the 90's playing my favorite song from REM. Doesn't get much better than this. Always loved the REM IRS period.
Life still offers us pleasant surprises.
Excellent cover of a classic song!
One of my absolute favorite REM tunes
Man I love that song. And these guys sound great covering it.

One of my all time favorite REM songs
the drummer settin' the tone!!! super solid!!!
Great cover! And love that all three singers did their own verses. So cool!
Very well done !

Now that was FUN! Thanks for posting!
Toad always had such a strong REM influence, all the way back to the SB days. This is great!
Ooh - seeing all three together THIS WEEK!!! ❤
Wow! This is great!
Grand Rapids is a cool town. I used live and play there. I miss The Reptile House
Love this!!!
I miss original drummer Randy Guss. He filled their performances with a sense of joie de vivre and untamed excitement.
Yes, but wasn’t his retirement due to medical issues? As I understand it, he soldiered on as long as he could without endangering himself . 🙏
I know he had shin splints at one point

Me hubiera encantado estar ahí, saludos desde Colombia!
Fantastic!
Did Toad open???? The should Headline this tour…. I hope they are!
Hermoso!
This is great but the drummer should listen to more Bill Berry.
I’d say he played the song just fine / very ‘driving ‘ .. but yes Bill is the man
Tremendous. But poor Matt Scannell. Can somebody get him a guitar, so he's not stuck standing goofily for most of the song?
Or a tambourine or maybe a fidget spinner.
That’s not their original drummer.
We know
Grand Rapids audiences are the stiffest!!
Ooof, bad memories of Santa Barbara circa 1988.
kindness is easy and so is just shutting the fuck up👍🏻👍🏻
