    Well, I’ve watched this three times now trying to figure out how this curtain could possibly roll up. I guess I’m not the only one. 225,000 views and 700 thumbs up.

      as mentioned try a small mockup using some chopsticks and a short piece of cloth...everything is easier with a real test trial. TWO strings...FIRST STRING ties to last hook, goes down on one side, up on the other, goes through 2nd and 3rd eye screw. SECOND string ties to second eye hook, goes down on one side of curtain, up other, and through 2nd eye hook and the last eye hook. While down, tie a not evenly on those two strings...it will pull the curtain up.

    I tested this with some scrap fabric and dowels rods. Easy peasy. Don’t overthink it just do a trial run. Tie the strings together at the end because you always need to raise both sides at the same time. And you will need a curtain cleat or a command hook or something to wind the string around to keep it in the up position.

    It occurs to me that you don't need to attach the cord hardware to the blind itself. That is desirable if you want a machine washable fabric blind. Attach all your hardware to a separate board. Attach the board above the window. Make a rod pocket at the top and bottom of the fabric. You would make the top rod longer so it extends beyond the rod pocket. Use the exposed ends of the rod to hang the cloth blind just below the installed board. Loop the pull cords around the blind, etc. For narrow blinds pvc rods Should be fine. For a very wide blind, I would use metal pipe for the top rod so that it remains rigid and does not bow or sag.

    Thankyou...in just wondering what the top and bottom end are, I don't have any others to look at...the bottom looks like a bamboo stick? Is the top MDF? Thankyou

    Question: So you need 2 strings to do this not 1 long string, right? They both come out at the same end and when rolling up or down they will be doing the same thing at the same time but independently, is that correct?

      Random Rookie easy to follow, one question, are you just going from back to front with string or are you putting it thru the bottom pole? The pic makes it look as if the string is being threaded thru the bottom pole and not just going in front of it. Can you clarify for me? Thanks

      If you have some prior knowledge of how shades work and experience with what materials work in different environments, it's easy to figure out. Starting from zero, you're right; it would be difficult to improvise as there are too many different possibilities to include in a short video like this. Hope you found another step by step, material by material video, but this worked great for me.

    Can we do the strings like Roman blind?
    Being them all one side then the them together?
    Otherwise how we can rolle it up?

    • @teresaevanko7900
      @teresaevanko7900 4 года назад +1

      The strings would be exactly like a Roman blind and need to extend as long as you need them to tie together and pull down and tie to a place on the wall to hold them up.

    Not very clear instructions for a novice. You actually need 2 strings. They both end up going through the 3rd eye screw and you pull the 2 ends of the string together. The diagram is confusing as it only has 1 string, but when you get your head around that, it’s a good system.
