I started painting about the same time you started teaching on you tube, and I learned a lot from you. I am more drawn to landscapes than florals, but I still check in with your videos from time to time. It is really nice to see you so happy and excited about your art, especially after watching you work through some less than happy periods when you were feeling (as you told us) frustrated and burned out. Congratulations! And best wishes for the year ahead.
Wow Emma what a year you have had. So impressed with how you have grown and progressed with your channel, your beautiful family and of course your art. Thank you for the tutorials and inspiration, happy new year!
Emma, I have learned so much about landscapes from you-TREES!!! So many ways to make my trees better. But, your florals are what brought me here and your monthly bouquet series was so much fun!
Oh I swear I’ll quit commenting on this but your gnome vid helped me make a gnome painting for my black friend at work. I had to be brave with trying a skin tone that wasn’t mine or familiar but she loves it. So a suggestion going for next Christmas, try gnomes with other skin tones ❤
I love all of your art, I’m glad you’re getting to travel to France it’s a big beautiful world out there and I can’t wait to see things from the retreat. Happy New Year to you and your family. xxxx
Sarah Cray is amazing. When I started watercolor about 2.5 years ago she did so much to help me be less scared of trying the hard things even if I might flop. It’s just paper, right? Easy to say, hard to do. You plus her plus Kristy have been the most amazing teachers for me, thank you for all you do!
Emma, your florals are legendary, but I saw some stunning landscapes in this video!! Landscapes are my jam and since you taught me to paint 7 years ago ( and ever since), I’ve kinda leaned toward landscapes… PLEASE show us some more landscapes, done as only you can do!! Wish I wasn’t poor, or I’d be with you in France!! 💕❤️
Have you tried Brusho? It's small cans of dry color pigment or mixed pigments that you can sprinkle on to your wet/damp watercolor painting. You'll get a granulation effect. Supposed to be great for landscape painting for instance. Or to sprinkle pigments of white and make it look like it's snowing? My first ever Brushos are ordered and on their way. 😊
This is all great to hear Emma! So happy for you and for the artwork and inspiration you share with us! France will be so lovely for you too, yay! A fun thing to know about the Kuretake granulating colors... they GLOW under a black light! Put your journal with the landscapes under a black light and you're going to be amazed!!! 🤩😍
I did the mushroom one with you! I love it. Mushrooms aren’t intimidating. If you mess up, it just becomes part of the mushroom. I struggle with evergreen and all trees!!!!
If you like granulating colours, check out Rockwell Canada paints. Love your channel, excited to see you do more landscapes, they are more my thing than florals.
I'm so happy you're finding the joy in painting again. It's good to have some breathing room. You painted some incredible landscapes. And you won't be surprised to hear that I'm excited you're going to get into florals again. Can't wait.
Emma! Thank YOU for sharing your wonderful content! I hope you realize how much you impact us as fellow artists and consumers. You make it easier for us to weed through various art supplies that we "need" and your videos are joyful to listen to and packed with information from your first hand experiences. That is truly helpful for us. Blessings for 2025!
I love that my two favourite watercolour RUclipsrs are Canadian, just like me. You and Anna. My style is more realistic botanicals but I have still learned a lot from you.
I am new to watercolor and really enjoy your videos, especially your floral watercolors. I learned a new term from you while watching this video, atmospheric watercolors. You have inspired me to do a whole sketchbook in atmospheric watercolors; they're so beautiful! I look forward to watching more of your tutorials in 2025!
I started following you when you first started. You have come such a long way in skill level, confidence, and presentation. Congrats to you. May God continue to bless you and your endeavors in 2025.
I started painting with you when you were pregnant with Noah! Time flies and congratulations on all your hard work, perseverance, success and happiness! Happy New Year!
I *love* those atmospheric granulating landscapes!! Wow! Would love some tutorials on those. Mijello came out with a set of granulating paints recently that you might like. I haven't been painting lately. Have had a lot going on, the last few months but hope to get back into it after my daughter goes back to school next week. Happy New Year to you. 🥰
I got the 12 days of Christmas for Christmas. BEST GIFT! I love opening a box each day and doing the tutorial (I'm on day 6 today) So fun!! Thank you for putting this together.
Emma I wish you the very best in the next year! I started with you in early 2020, so you taught me how to start watercolor! You deserve all that comes your way! Hard for me to believe you babies are in school.
This video was so fun to watch and your excitement was contagious!!! You were the first watercolor artist I watched and also Paul Clark (UK) ... You both used Winsor Newton Professional watercolor paint, so after my beginner set I bought WN!!! Of course I expanded after that purchase and I can't really blame it on Kristy Rice's love of new palettes!!! I really enjoyed buying some convenience colors that continue to be favorites!🎉❤😂 I particularly liked your landscapes Emma!!! Wow!!! Thank you for sharing today!!! I'm a Gramma now, but remember what it was like with 3 boys under 5!!! Whew!!! I'm glad you have a bit of time now to create and really enjoy your your painting!!! I'm so excited for the New Year and your France retreat 😂 It sounds like a dream!!! God bless you and your family in 2025!!! Thanks for being so open about your journey from the beginning!!! With love from a California Gramma ❤
I recently started dabbling with watercolors and so far I just used the cheap $3 children's watercolor set. Recently I figured I'll venture out and get me a "step-up", so I purchased a Winsor-Newton set, just the small Cotman travel-size. OMG! I can't believe it's not butter! The difference between the two sets of paint is HUGE! And it's not just the color but the actual "feel" of the paint itself. The kid's set feels like dabbling in colored water. The W&N feels like much thicker, sort of like a paste (well, depending on how much water you add). But yeah, I'm X-citied about this new paint! Also got me some daVinci brushes. Had enough seeing bristles floating in the water, lol, courtesy of the "5 for 2 bucks" type of brushes.
Emma Thank you for all you do to help us become better artists. I always look forward to your videos and often go back to your instructional videos 😊. My very favorite are your palette videos as I love to explore new colors and I love to see colorful watercolor choices . Have a very blessed and Happy New Year surrounded by everyone and everything you love 🎉❤.
I finally picked up my watercolors after a long break thanks to you and your tutorials 🥰 they’re so atmospheric and inspiring. Thank you so much for what you do 🤗
Hullo Emma, So glad your advancing your own watercolor journey! I would offer this advice of putting some of these exercises on your channel. It can be so important to grow yourself as an Artist, but others will be able to learn as you learn and not feel so intimidated too! I have not done online teaching but in live classes the best responses I have ever received was in classes where I was learning right along with the others in the class, It is so much easier to be a part of a class as a leader as opposed as a instructor! The aspect of lets try this as, opposed to do this. This was a turning point in my watercolor journey that lead me to becoming a life long watercolorist and not just an artist that does watercolor painting. I am glad your finding JOY in your painting and this alone can be a significant point for an Artist to make painting a part of your life that simply is! I look forward to your continuing growth and advancement in this wonderful medium!
Hi from Calgary 😊 I loved the mushroom piece! I’ve done it now a few times changing the colors a bit or the shape of the frame. (Tutorial idea: I’d happily do more of that idea: painting a scene within a shape, with some of the scene ending outside of it). I need to go back to catch some of the landscape videos. (Another video idea: composition of a landscape or scene: how to get the scale right, perspective, etc). I’m so glad you’re enjoying painting for yourself!
Love that you're excited and things are falling into place for you. I painted the gnomes, little different from yours but they turned out sooooooo good! Thank you for your inspiration and enjoy 2025! 🖌️😁
This was fun! I would love to see more about granulating paints. Thank you for all you do…tons of content and your great teaching style! Happy New Year to you and your family!
I gifted the mushroom tutorial painting to two of my favorites (my partner and my sister), and they loved them! Thank you so much for your content. You always help pull me out of a painting slump
Emma, I wish you a very blessed new year! I've been learning so much! I love your landscape videos. Have a great time on your retreat! God bless you and your family!
Thanks for putting links for buying in Canada. I started watercolour painting around when you started on you tube. Thanks for all the tips. Love your style!
17:45 - The reason people like mushrooms is because they are versatile. You can eat them, you can live in them, you can make friends with them, you can talk to them (they have exceptional listening skills btw), you can stand under them when it's raining, etc. They also have their own personality. Some like to smile, some can be sad, but their head is very sensitive hence they're always wearing a hat. And when you're not watching they throw a party and try on each other's hat. So yeah, you can do a lot with mushrooms. I have a funny story when I went to see Winnie and he broke a jar of honey and a mushroom stuck in it. It was quite a rescue mission! But I will tell you about it later...
I agree you did do a lot of awesome paintings this year! I loved almost every one of them. Had fun painting along with you also. I painted the little red car 🚗 I add some things to it also. My daughter's loved it! I am so glad you focused on shadows more also. My daughter I painted a couple of leaves and I had the real leaves sitting beside them and she thought the painted leaves where real!! I used shadows and it came alive right on the paper!! It was cool. I thank you for that. I can't wait to see what you paint this year. ❤
I'm so glad I found your channel after watching another RUclipsr review your advent box, which was very nice so I decided to check you out. If you do another, I think it would be nice to inlude a small print of your art, preferably one that used some of the supplies in the advent. Had I subscribed sooner, I would have saved up to join the retreat. It sounds so fun. I hope you do another so I can plan. You are the first person who's turorials help me. I did the starry night and was quite pleased how it turned out. Good luck in the new year!
Thank you, Emma. Happy, New Year. I loved the mushroom tutorial. A suggestion for more videos - the bright and loose style you used to paint plums ( about 11 months ago)
You are my absolute favorite RUclips teacher! I hope someday I’ll be able to join one of your retreats. It would be my honor to meet you in person. You’re such an inspiration for me ♥️
So grateful for you Emma! Totally enjoyed the 12 Days Box and all of the tutorials and lives. I ALMOST got to get in on the France trip but life got weird. Next time! Happy new year!!!
Your enthusiasm is absolutely contagious, Emma! Fun to see you so excited to paint again. The transparent poppies from 5 years ago… whaat? brought me to your channel. Would love to see new explorations with new paints like that. Also it would be cool to see you experiment with the granulating paints. Happy 2025 to you and your lovely family! 🎉
I have the atmospheric classes from Sarah Cray but haven't had time to paint them yet. It's great you are branching out just for you. Also, the kiddos thriving in school/daycare is great on its own but that it allows you and the hubs to work your day means more family time when the kiddos actually get 🏡. Quality over Quantity is great. Can't wait to see you continue to thrive in 2025. Happy New Year!
This video is great Emma. I've seen all of the videos you spoke of and I really enjoyed all of them. The products that you talked about are ones I have ordered and others I will. I'm very excited for you to travel to France in the new year. I know you will do great and have so much fun. Congratulations on your success in the past years and more to come in the future.
It seems like the paintings that challenge you really make you happy!! 😍 Things that you haven't done before!! 👍 Lean into that, at least for your private painting!! 😉 Keep your joy alive!! 💞 You seem to be able to create anything you put your mind to! 👏 That is a blessing and wonderful skill!! 🤗 Enjoy it!! ❤ But be gentle with yourself too. I sense that not really liking most things you do comes from your inner critic... If you stick to having fun and playing with your art, people will come to you in droves, and it will be more enjoyable for you as well! 😅 Beautiful video!! 😚 Your teaching style is lovely!! 🥰 I bet your students loved you in school!! 💖
Thank you for sharing your talent with us Emma. You inspired me to stop trying for reality relax with watercolors by enjoying the experience and result. Happy New Year to you and your family!🎨🎉
I am so inspired by this video...seeing and hearing your enthusiasm is contagious! I'm looking forward to your tutorials...past, present and future. And, I'm looking forward to hearing all about your retreat in France! ❤💛💙
Happy New Year Emma! Have you ever tried the granulation medium you can add to any paint ?I was just curious. Also would love to see an atmospheric landscape mini course. Your sketch books are a delight to look at & very impressive indeed! Congratulations on everything you have accomplished in your career! You’ve worked hard & deserve it!! 💕
I have a weird thought. I wish there was a watercolor retreat for moms. Like, I hear you so much about how with the kiddos able to thrive being out of the house and occupied you too are able to thrive! I wish we could create that for other moms. I’m child free but would totally be a watercolor camp counselor for the littles while moms had fun. I’m not qualified professionally so it’ll probably never happen but your thoughts just really piqued that idea. Maybe someone better equipped can take that and run with it. ❤
I didn't know about your painting with the actress! The gnomes were one of my favorites, too! You made them look so easy. I painted my own and really liked them! I've been wanting to try granulating paints after watching Jackie Peacock, but I'm trying to use up some supplies or at least start making more money from my art before I start purchasing more. 😅 Happy New Year! I love that you have your excitement back and more time to focus on painting for fun. 🤩🙌🎨🖌️
I really enjoyed this video Emma, and I’m excited to try granulating paints. I loved your gnome tutorial! Thanks so much for inspiring me! I wish your beautiful family a blessed New Year filled with love, good health and lots of new adventures and happiness!! ❤️ My 3 best friends and I are sooo looking forward to painting with you in France!!! 🎨🖼️👩🎨
Happy New Year! I'm glad you've had a good year. I loved the gnome video too and I'm going to make more of them. Thanks for your tutorials, I've learned so much this year--my first year of watercolor!
Thank you so much for sharing, you’re really talented,I just love the way you explain and teach. The landscape paintings are so beautiful. Please be proud of yourself. I’m a new beginner. I’m trying to tell myself self not to compare my outcome with others and that it takes time to learn. Thank you again for sharing and teaching.❤ Happy New Year from Denmark.
You are an inspiration to my beginning watercolor journey at 75. Thank you

I love painting with your original brush set from Craftamo! Best art supplies purchase I’ve ever made! Thank you Emma for your tutorials.
Thank you Emma for all you do, we love you.
Happy New Year Emma
Wishing you many beautiful things for the coming year. Blessings to you and family..
I don't know what you had as favorites. Mine was your little boy in the raincoat splashing in the puddles.🙂🙂

Hi, Emma! Happy New Year! It's so good to hear that you had a great year and thanks for reflecting on 2024.
You are amazing and a wonderful inspiration. Thank you Emma.
Emma I wish you the very best in the next year! I started with you in early 2020, so you taught me how to start watercolor! You deserve all that comes your way! Hard for me to believe you babies are in school.
Oh, honey! You deserve every single thing that happened and even more! You work so hard and you are so talented. Keep on keepin', sis!!
Thanks!
Wow!! Thank you so much!
Just very excited for all the 2025 paintings 🌟
Thank you for this lovely year review! It's been a great journey with you, and looking forward to what 2025 has for us all!
So glad you are doing better. All the best for the next year.
Your handwriting is pretty lovely 🥰
Thanks so much Emma. Some of your own paintings blew me away, and your enthusiasm is so encouraging. Happy 2025!!
Emma Thank you for all you do to help us become better artists. I always look forward to your videos and often go back to your instructional videos 😊. My very favorite are your palette videos as I love to explore new colors and I love to see colorful watercolor choices .
Your brush set is awesome you should be proud of them!
Wishing all a fabulous and peaceful 2025. Thanks Emma, I loved your adventure calendar.

This was fun! I would love to see more about granulating paints. Thank you for all you do…tons of content and your great teaching style!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Great video. Thank you for showing all the cool supplies.
I am loving the 12Days of Christmas box! It is awesome!
I’m so glad you love it!
This year I bought QOR watercolors and the color explosions are gorgeous. I highly recommend them
Thanks for putting links for buying in Canada. I started watercolour painting around when you started on you tube. Thanks for all the tips. Love your style!
I am so glad to hear you are charging ahead and enjoying your life! I was worried a year or two ago that you might quit doing videos. See you in 2025!
I loved the gnomes so much, I decided to make some in 3-D using cotton and starch. They are adorable! Thanks for the inspiration. D. from Oregon

Thanks, Emma, and Happy New Year! I really loved painting the gnomes. ❤️
Thank you, Emma. Happy, New Year. I loved the mushroom tutorial. A suggestion for more videos - the bright and loose style you used to paint plums ( about 11 months ago)
Thank you for another great year of tutorials! Glad to hear you sounding healthier. Hope you had a great Christmas. Happy New Year!
Oh I'm so sad you couldn't make it but I hope to see you on the next one!
I’ve been with you since the beginning, you have exploded 🎉 I hope this year is even better❣️
Loved all the landscapes! Love your florals, too. Need to figure out how to use that flat brush for them.
Your enthusiasm is absolutely contagious, Emma! Fun to see you so excited to paint again. The transparent poppies from 5 years ago… whaat? brought me to your channel. love your videos! have a marry Christmas and a good and happy new year 🤩
Thanks Em. So glad for your new-found time. Keep it coming, please!
I'm just starting watercolor painting...I have a few brushes, cheap paints and would like to have some sort of list of the favs you mentioned.
Loved this 2024 wrap up.
What a year!🎉 I’m so glad you are doing tutorials!

Your atmospheric landscapes are lovely. Perhaps there will be a tutorial in 2025!
Wonderful and uplifting! Thank you for your inspirational style.
Since you asked for comments 😊 what’s the brand of the wood less water color pencils you liked that came in the box/stand?
Karst goods!
I just found you. Your work is truly lovely.
Thank you! I haven’t tried that yet!
Happy prosperous new year. All the best for you and your family ❤
Thank you for all you do, Emma! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you Emma for 2024 it has been wonderful to watch your tutorials and I look forward to more in 2025. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Happy New Year! I love that you have your excitement back and more time to focus on painting for fun. 🤩🙌🎨🖌️

I’m trying to tell myself self not to compare my outcome with others and that it takes time to learn. Thank you again for sharing and teaching.❤ Happy New Year from Denmark.
