Been searching for this game for 2 years, played it with my brother and nephew on the ps1, i finally switched over too ps3 and i forgot all about this masterpiece, so glad i discovered it again.
The fact that the Playstation 1 games had better car physics than most current Gen games says alot about the downfall and oversaturation of the current market

Just to point out, Rogue Trip is not a Twisted Metal game. It is the same kind of game, but not Twisted Metal. Hope you don't take it the wrong way. I'm a fan of Twisted Metal but I think Rogue Trip is a little better.

technically speaking twisted metal black was released before small brawl, which is an interesting situation given the fact that small brawl was PS1 only and Black was PS2 only.
just saw the show, and i feel it would make into a REALLY good game, i obviously knew it already was a game but i mean a more modernized game. have anyone played mad max? this should take that style with this, it being only car fights will probably get really boring after a while lets be honest, but having it be a sortof story mode, you can customize your own car with things you salvage from either destroyed cars or broken down ones, or just from doing deliveries. coming across outposts, maybe even be able to get captured and breaking yourself out, but thats probably to much.
Twisted Metal 4 is actually one of the best games of all time. I’m would pay a lot of money for a remake. All the TMs after 4 are not even the same game really.
IMO Twisted Metal 4 is actually the black sheep of the bunch (all the other games seem pretty similar to me, while 4 feels very different… I guess 3 also feels slightly unusual). TM3 and TM4 both had different developers from the other games too, so it makes sense that they’d stand out.
I would like to see TM3 and TM4 remade like maybe have all the stages and TM3 and TM4 characters in a remake of TM1/TM2 in a N. Sane trilogy style and Super Smash Bros Ultimate where it had everything.
Twisted metal 2012 on PlayStation 3 was a excellent send off for the series from msny of the developers who worked on many of the previous games in the series.
3 and 4 were my favorites. I remember when I first got 4 I was beyond excited. That day was like a child on Christmas getting something they thought they weren't going to get because it was too expensive or the parents said "you don't need that" or "you will get one but not both". Imagine a modded TM4 game where the map has 5x the cars with 3 regens on each and rapid fire is enabled (gameshark cheat that let you spam rockets as fast as your trigger finger could press) Also a x5 ammo on all pickups so instead of 5 homing you get 25 with a cap of say 99,999. And to top it off a progression system of earning exp and upgrading your car. perhaps you don't start off with rapid fire but need to increase your reload speed. Also things like hp/speed/energy regen/special regen speed. When you clear a stage you can sell off your ammo for additional money. with money you can buy additional lives, stat increases, or unlock new specials Also this modded TM4 game could include maps from 1,2,3 and black as well as cars from each modded if the graphics are from 1-3.
I only loved twisted metal 1 and twisted metal 2, I never liked the ohter twisted metal games that came after these two masterpieces. You forgot to mention vigilante 8 and vigilante 8-2 :)

Games like Twisted Metal, Air Combat, Metal Gear, and Gran Turismo are why powerful 3D texturing engines like PS1 were needed for this generation of games. Why SEGA didn't scrap the Saturn and just build a 3dfx Voodoo console from the get go is beyond me.
I am feeling nostalgic about this game, i remember when my best friend introduce me to PS 2 when i was in mid school, we play this game for hours. Very good memories. He has passed away a view years ago and i feel like want to play this game again ..
I agree with 2/3 of your comment, it please don't encourage skins as a paid service.. maybe unlockables through gameplay, but no more micro transactions... it's killing gaming

Games were more than they are now back in the early 90s, even without inflation. Never seen those flyers from the early 90s with SNES games for like $70+? We are getting a lot for our money these days. And if you can't afford $80, wait a few months and it'll drop like they always do (unless it's Nintendo)

I played Twisted Metal on PC back then and I don't remember it looking that shitty. Even 2 and 3 look like garbage. Then I watched a Video of TM on PC, and it looked like what I remember. The difference back then was like several generations apart.

Twisted metal black came out in 2002, not 2015. It released for ps4 at a later date, but was still the same game it was on ps2.
