Lithuania as well as other Central European countries provide immense support to Ukraine. Monika Liu is one of the most ardent supporters - in fact, she even did a cover version of "Stefania" in Vilnius a while ago, you can check it on youtube, So for me, it is no surprise that she made this collaboration.

This is an ancient pre-Christian carol "Oh, how it was before the age" - one of the brightest Ukrainian ritual songs. The girls performed a modern rendition of this song. Previously, this musical composition was played in the Ukrainian musical "Evenings on a farm near Dykanka" in 2001 and was very popular.
The first singer was Jerry Heil, the second was Alyona Alyona and then Monika Liu. ❤

This song is based on a very old pre-Christian Ukrainian carol that describes the foundation/creation of the our world, our planet. The carol says that in the beginning there was nothing, only the blue sea. And the golden sand from which the Earth was poured.

    Good evening)
In this case, the phrase "God willing" is like "so be it" and "thank you, God, for doing this" at the same time. This is an old saying of Ukrainians for anything. Gratitude to God for doing this and not otherwise... for the stars, for the earth, for the sky))
But the girls created a modern song and this ending was inserted into the verses in order to give the song a folk meaning.

I'm going to leave another lyrics translation here... Just in case
"Oh, how it was a long time ago" is one of the brightest ritual songs . A late version of Ukrainian cosmogenic carols (creation of the world by two doves, in this case )
Toloka - one-time free group work for quick execution of a large volume of work. Ancient Ukrainian custom... Still exist, by the way.
Houses greased with plaster - literally! To make the houses look white.
Alyona Alyona x Jerry Heil x Monika Liu - God Bless (God grant - literally)
    (Ukrainian)
Oh, how it was a long time ago, oh God
Oh, how there was no heaven and no earth, oh God
Oh, how it was a long time ago, oh God
Oh, how there was no heaven and no earth, oh God
On the first day of God there was a toloka
Saints were looking for land for their residential complex
Oh, how it was a long time ago:
Saints lived among the oaks in houses greased with plaster
A holy hand washed robes in rivers of milk
And baptized from the evil tongue
And they wrote messages to us on the stars with a glow
So that the one who got lost does not meet the evil one
    Branches, branches outside my window
The sky is scattered with stars, as if spreading a canvas
Fate flows from it, years fall to the bottom
And everything that a person saw before his eternal sleep
For purposes! For purposes! Everyone is a target
And because it has words from different songs on its back
Like a mother put in milk, as if it were a grain
To get them up, you have to jump to the bottom
    (Lithuanian)
    The sun was blocked
    The earth was hungry
    Bright morning
    God grant
    A long month
    I howl like a wolf
    Brother's heart
    Set it free
    (Ukrainian)
Oh, how it was long time ago, oh God
Oh, how there was no heaven and no earth, oh God
(In Lithuanian -God give. God give. God give. God give) (Shell it be - seems to be right form for such preach, as for me.)
    (Lithuanian)
    A wounded spirit
    Praying in the morning
    A poisoned prayer
    A bone in the throat
    The sun was blocked
    The earth was hungry
    Bright morning
    God grant
    A long month
    I howl like a wolf
    Brother's heart
    Set it free
Oh, how it was long time ago, oh God
Oh, how there was no heaven and no earth, oh God

Oh, how it was before the ages:
Lived between the oaks saints in houses-mazanka (house of bricks or twigs, coated with clay or other sticky organic).
The holy hand washed their vestments in rivers of milk.

My attempt to more or less convey the meaning of the song in translation. The song is based on a ritual song. Specifically, to calendar ceremonial songs: folklore pieces that were performed during various folk festivals and rituals. These songs are closely related to pagan beliefs. The Slavs believed in the forces of nature, the spirits of nature, and believed that by ritual songs they could influence them and make them act in the desired direction. Specifically, this song refers to cosmogonic carols (carols - solemn calendar-ritual songs of the winter cycle of holidays, mainly among the Slavic peoples. Originally, the carols were accompanied by pagan rites, the Kolyada rites, associated with honoring the newborn sun, the cult of ancestors, turned out to be very stable). About the creation of the Earth, people, the world. With the Christianization of Ukraine, it took on religious connotations. The cultural skeleton of the original song is tied to Slavic beliefs about the creation of the world. Originally there was no earth or sky, there was only the blue sea. On the sea stood a green maple tree, on it three blue birds, thinking how to create the world. The three birds plunged into the depths of the sea and brought out a yellow stone (which became the Sun), a golden cobweb (which became Heaven), and a silver stone (which became the Moon). Then the golden sand was taken out of the sea, and the stars were taken out of it. Then they took out the dark silt and made black earth on which wheat began to grow. These are elements of Slavic paganism, which was based on the nature around it. For example, it was believed that life was begotten by the World Duck, and death by the Sedun Goat. Since we have many rivers, the theme of water is also very present in the idea of the world as a huge sea from which the earth was taken out. Then this song became Christianized. The birds were replaced by the Christian apostles, the Lord was added, and the creation of the earth became their domain. So can this song be called a religious song? Not really. This song is sung in the wintertime, the coldest time, in the snow, when there is not much sunshine. It is the time of the "death" of nature. How can we not be reminded of the value of life at a time of death around here? It's a strong and profound cultural message. Then in winter time came the feast of Christmas, the idea of Jesus, the birth of the Savior. And these songs began to be sung to him, replacing old elements with new ones. That's how the carol "Oh how it was before the world came into being."
