I’ve always had a lingering suspicion, but the release of this video so soon after the last just proves the unfortunate truth that we’ve been lied to for years. Gamechamp is in fact good at video games.
I mean, theoretically doing a challenge run like not jumping in X game is being bad at video games since you ignore a core part of the game's design such as jumping, you're technically playing the game wrong by purposefully locking away a move as quintessential as jumping and as such make things like the tutorial unnecessarily difficult because you are not jumping, and since by design a tutorial (or really any section thar isn't difficult when jumping) shouldn't be difficult, you are playing the game wrong by making it unnecessarily difficult, and playing games wrong is very often considered "bad gameplay", basically technically a run like ratchet and clank with only the wrench *is* "bad" gameplay, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be done, I love stuff like this, but by design, it technically is playing a game the wrong way. That doesn't apply to no damage runs, but I just wanted to explain why I think she says it, even if it's probably just a silly joke with no thought behind it.
No wait, better idea: They should've gone on a big rant about how Toad Man is unbeatable to troll viewers unfamiliar with the game. How am I supposed to compete with THIS!? He jumps all the time to dodge your shots, has an attack that covers the entire screen, and can even throw you off by standing there menacingly instead! There is ONE piece of genuine advice I can give you, and that is don't get hit. But good luck with that. There's nothing I can do here! *sigh* MISSION FAILED
Almost like Rockman 4 has *significantly* less bullshit, due to it not being an unfinished tech demo that was rushed to not-even-half-completion by the time it was on store shelves.
It was only recently that I watched the Rockman 3 video, and I saw the typical comments under there like "Haha now do Rockman 4" and rolled my eyes at them like, "Yeah right this game has probably been Hell already, as if there's gonna be a new one this quickly" And then I saw this. And after doing a classic double take at my screen, my only thought was: "My god. She's actually done it."
I scoffed at all the comments on the rockman 3 video saying "now do rockman 4" I believed it was humanly impossible. Perhaps a TAS could accomplish such a thing, but a human doesn't possess the nerves necessary. 34:28 and this moment was the reason why. I couldn't imagine any way to damage him without taking hits, the energy blasts are so large and fire at such a high rate, that I fully believed a mister perfect run was entirely impossible. 35:38 His openings are MICROSCOPIC, so few, and so far between! I was fully convinced that only a TAS would have the nerve required to not be entirely demoralized! 36:30 Then, you explained THIS revelation to me. And suddenly it AAAAAAALL made sense! An old weapons secret potential, a shield nobody would think to be able to resist such massive blows...can instead take TWO! 36:37 The skull barrier is capable of nullifying not one, BUT TWO whole energy blasts before being destroyed! With this defensive ability, defeating this second phase (while still difficult) is an astonishingly simple endeavor. One need only wait for his opening, surge out and strike with a drill missile, and then switch to and activate a barrier to cover you while you dash back into cover!
Just a tiny note: The HP points that Bright Man HAS to be in order for him to freeze you are 16, 8 and 4, which are all multiples of 4, and Bright Man has 28 HP and so does Rockman. That's why you shoot one buster shot before using Rain Flush on him, which does 4 damage to him, not that anyone would actually pay attention to that info, but I thought it was worth pointing out.
Note that this also lets you employ the same basic strategy for a run where you only have the buster; shoot him to get him to 27, and then only use charge shots and his health will only ever be multiples of 3, so the freeze attack never occurs.
fun fact, the hp values that trigger the time freeze are coincidentally shown by the decoration on the wall since certaim lines seem to overlap with them... its probably mot intentional but its funny reguardless

After the rockman 3 video I genuinely didn’t expect her to do 4 within at least a year, the absolute mad las. Never had a videos release surprised me so much
I like how you can tell how much more polished this game is in general compared to 3, so much less hearing about hits being basically random chance, and more skill and proper weapon usage.
RNG and polish have absolutely nothing to do with eachother. Did you see all the janky glitches in this video? 4 is possibly even less polished than 3.
She's okay with the gun being fired in one of the Rachet & Clank cutscenes (barring a joke about another challenge run of the same game), so it's probably fine there too

I skip cutscenes when possible that show a character breaking the rule just because the idea that the cutscene would count is funny, but I don't genuinely count cutscenes
@@Gamechamp3000 One interesting thing to note is that Dark Man's hit isn't actually a hit. It just sets your HP to 1 instead of dealing damage. If you hack your HP to 0, then a hit of any amount, even one that doesn't deal damage, should kill you. However, if you hack your HP to 0 and then enter the cutscene, Dark Man will fire a friendly healing bullet that will bring you back to 1 HP.

The amount of planning, strategizing, practicing, etc. must've taken a lot of effort that must never be taken for granted. This is truly the accomplishment of the century that will not be overshadowed, and you are great. Now do Rockman 5.
I would've doubted it cuz that sounds like utter hell... but this is the person who beat Pokémon Red and Blue damageless in one session and, despite getting to the point where she was having nightmares about imaginary thumb tacks, still considers it her favorite challenge. So no, I don't doubt that Gamechamp is insane enough to subject herself to that level of torment

I beat all 6 Mega Man games legit in the 80s/90s. But then I go back to them now and I just lack the patience to do it without save states. I know I CAN, but man it's a slog!
@@amso7169 I never finished 7 or 8. They just felt wrong to me on so many levels. 9 I LOVED, beat that legit, too. 10 just felt cheap and unfair so I gave up on that one pretty early, and 11 I loved as well. I might even go for the Platinum Trophy on that one.
@@runamerone5492 7 and 8 are certainly different from the original formula but they are great adventures nonetheless. they have mostly solid levels and fun weapon sets. 10 just feels like a better version of 9 to me
the deaths counter going from 78 to 98 between dying to the wiley stage #3 boss and the wiley capsule fight is environmental stroytelling at its finest
I wonder why the devs opted to give Mega Man two different weapons that affected the whole screen. It definitely doesn't make this challenge easy since I'd imagine the bosses are typically where most runs will end anyway, but a lot of the regular platforming sections end up being trivialized with either Rain Flush or Flash Stopper. Still, an absolutely impressive run as always. Happy birthday, Charles!
Fun fact gamechamp once mixed ring man and dive man names during a run and since then we tried to have her say it that way during the video but sadly it didn't happen and yet I can't blame her cause her videos are incredible. The fact that i was there just makes me happy that i could her truly triumph and beat the corpse that just won't give up.
Many of the Speedrunners of NES Mega games call Drill man "dive man" and Dive man "Drill Man" because of the patterns where Drill Man Dives into the ground and Dive Man Drills at you 😂

After having beating every classic mega man game buster only, it’s entertaining seeing the creativity VG Myths does for the no damage runs. Plus, the commentary gives me a chuckle every time.
I think this series is kinda unique in that regard, because the 'rock' is important. The entire series has names based on music. Rock(man) and Roll, Bass, Treble, Rush (the band), it just makes more sense with those names.

Really cool video so far! Minor thing though; I prefer the "DEMO" text being larger and more visible on screen.
I kept missing it because the RUclips bar kept covering it when I was looking to see if it was demo footage or not
I would personally like to see larger vertical letters that read "D E M O" on both sides in the MegaMan title font so it blends with the border picture a bit more
Maybe the color of the empty space on either side of the gameplay could be changed for "demo mode" as well?

@@amso7169 I never finished 7 or 8. They just felt wrong to me on so many levels. 9 I LOVED, beat that legit, too. 10 just felt cheap and unfair so I gave up on that one pretty early, and 11 I loved as well. I might even go for the Platinum Trophy on that one.

7 and 8 are certainly different from the original formula but they are great adventures nonetheless. they have mostly solid levels and fun weapon sets. 10 just feels like a better version of 9 to me

I never knew the spacing thing with Dive Man, I just knew that if he opens his mouth he's firing a missile, and if he doesn't he's charging
I wonder why the devs opted to give Mega Man two different weapons that affected the whole screen. It definitely doesn't make this challenge easy since I'd imagine the bosses are typically where most runs will end anyway, but a lot of the regular platforming sections end up being trivialized with either Rain Flush or Flash Stopper. Still, an absolutely impressive run as always.

Fun fact gamechamp once mixed ring man and dive man names during a run and since then we tried to have her say it that way during the video but sadly it didn't happen and yet I can't blame her cause her videos are incredible. The fact that i was there just makes me happy that i could her truly triumph and beat the corpse that just won't give up.
Many of the Speedrunners of NES Mega games call Drill man "dive man" and Dive man "Drill Man" because of the patterns where Drill Man Dives into the ground and Dive Man Drills at you 😂

I think this series is kinda unique in that regard, because the 'rock' is important. The entire series has names based on music. Rock(man) and Roll, Bass, Treble, Rush (the band), it just makes more sense with those names.
