- A WW2 story of Jason Carter an American soldier who attempts to rescue his soul as he finds a young abandoned 8 year old German girl when patrolling Nazi hideouts at the end of the war.
Synopsis:
A WWII story of Jason Carter (Edward Tarling) an American soldier who attempts to rescue his soul in a desperate search for the one hope of restoring peace within himself. Jason alongside soldier Ben (Damon Driver) and Rick (Rob McLoughlin) patrol the last potential Nazi hideouts at the end of the Second World War. The story takes place in August 1944, in the French Alps where the Officer Robert Ferrier (Daniel Quilez) is in charge of supervising the U.S. and local resistance. Only one day, Jason surprisingly finds the most unexpected person he could expect. Her name is Rosie, she’s an 8 year old German girl who’s been left behind. What will he do? His orders are clear…
True Heart is an immersive adventure through the French Alps of 1944 seen through the eyes of the main character Jason Carter. A period drama driven by the emotions a soldier would have felt during these times of hatred and violence, a soldier misunderstood not only by others but also by himself. True Heart develops some of the most refined and subtle emotions experienced during the War.

The project True Heart began in November 2015. Jonathan Kingston Gameiro and Renan Robillard agreed to share their passion and experience of filmmaking to collaborate and make their very first film. Castings took place in the UK (London), France (Annecy), and Switzerland (Geneva). The crew was composed of British and French technicians mainly from London and Paris. As both Jonathan and Renan grew up in the French Alps their search for locations was concentrated in the area, the idea of only having genuine sets made the project even more challenging and exciting.
A few months later, the cast, the crew, the locations, the props and the equipment was secured and all thanks to the help of family, friends and colleagues without whom the project would never have been possible in the first place. The 17th of August 2016 everyone was gathered in France, time to shoot, the shoot took place for 8 consecutive days.
The energy and devotion shared towards the film from the people involved was incredible. “True Heart” was originally a non permanent production name. After the production ended, the producers decided to keep the title “True Heart” as they considered it was a suitable title, and also reflected the atmosphere and energy shared on set by the cast and crew.

that french Officer looked like a sadistic french Mr:Bean
no wonder i taught he looked familiar, lmao
Yes
And he looks gay
nah he's just chuck schumer, but if he was just french.
He looks ridiculous
moral: never give a child a gun
moral: don't turn into your enemy, and don't turn your back to your enemy. Thin line there is.
The film is good but the spoken German is just bad...
But bro Hitler was not a child. His strategy were very good. His soldiers died and surrendered most in Russia coz of extreme cols which they could not survive but Russian soldiers were used to
@@samreenimtiaz3075 it’s a fucking joke
Good moral 👌🏻
Nice twist at the end, I really didn’t see it coming.
Yep, I did nazi that coming

ok this french general sounds kinda insane
That was our goal. We are glad that’s the impression received!

Ooohhh, I didn't expect this ,man...
We are glad the twist worked out as expected thank you for watching!
Astounding work guys. Lighting, color grading, editing, shots, audio design. All great.
It was good. One gripe: the soundtrack was too high, and voices hard to hear requiring subtitles to catch every word. Surprised that wasn’t caught during postproduction editing.
Thank you we are glad you enjoyed! Concerning sound we hope to do better the next time. Unfortunately our mix is not perfect for all formats watched from RUclips
70 years ago the village I live in was surrounded by the enemy. about 40 soldiers were sent to break the seige. They found an old man of the enemy ,a shepard, and had mercy and did not kill him.He immediately went to the enemy army and told them, the whole 40 man unit were killed along with many of our village. In our village there are still those who think that not killing the enemy old man was correct and humane.
Hedgehog's Right of Passage I guess it s in France.

Interesting story. Times of war make decision making and rationale sometimes unclear. Good and bad are closely correlated and difficult to differentiate
The children too, that was insane.
When you think that they are just children but you forget that there nazis too... amazing twist in the end
One of the best short films I have watched. Great work 👏
Never saw the ending coming 😂😭
Lesson of the story. Don't be a simp.
Yep
At the end it should have been you're a simp so now you die I may be naz| but I'm also the simp police
He was just a person who didn’t wanna kill a child
That’s not simping
Lesson in this short film. Never let ur guard down even if it is a child.
We would add : especially during times of war
sympathy towards child is normal
@@arghaghosh365 It indeed is, but it mich not end well. Sympathy in war might kill you.
When she grabbed the gun, I knew what was gonna happen. Awesome short!!
Nice you spotted that! We purposely left it difficult to identify so it wouldn’t be too evident!
Me too. Knew she was going to use that gun on one or more of the soldiers.
I also think Jason knew his choice would inevitably lead to his death, and was ok with it. The Germans would surely have killed him if caught and if the Allies got hold of him he would die a traitor. If he did manage to escape he couldn't "go home," and would have to live on the run and always looking over his shoulder.
imagine saving someone and then getting stabbed in the back for just saving them
He did not Nazi it coming.
Sorry, I'll leave now.
LOL
Damn. Children can be twisted too. Didn't see that coming
We are glad the twist worked out! Thanks for watching
Children are especially susceptible to indoctrination, and Nazi Germany had lots of political youth groups with the express goal of brainwashing them with their awful ideology.
Not many times a movie surprised me.Great job!
7:59: THIS. IS. SPARTA!
😂
Awesome, keep up the good work !
Nice work! The plot of this story is very good! This needs more views and support! Very good job! You're channel also needs more support!
Thank you for your words! We appreciate it.
It is a pity that the emotional and humane tension infusing the picture was spoiled by an easy and overused twist at the end, where the big sister, who so squeamishly stabbed the "bad guy" was, an hour or two later, remorselessly ready to shoot the "good guy", with possibly the complicity of the "innocent" little sister. If the only idea of the movie was about our moral choices and their consequences with regard to fate, then fine, to hell with sentimentality. That makes for an honest thriller.
But it seemed to me that there was another statement in the making, one of mercy and humanity, that could have prevailed over the unpalatable feeling, at least to me, that what we are eventually taking away from this movie is that even German kids could indeed have been lethal nazis.
I am no psychologist, but maybe the stabbing jaded her so that it was much easier to kill now. Besides isn't the act of pulling a trigger from 25 feet away a lot less intimate than stabbing and thus less difficult. That last solder to die was the only thing that stood between her and freedom so she could have been more focused as a result of being so near to freedom.
The ending ruined it for me.
@@z11542 Yeah but he was the guy who saved them....

@Rachel ASHTON yeah I realised that but it was a bit unclear for me if that's the actual reason.

I don't understand easier..
Just a thought, she aims the gun but did you hear a shot?
Because it is WW2. Nazi verses Allied.
It's not certain that she did. But Jason said at the beginning of the film that, "The first war killed people. The second war killed humanity."

French guy: *starts speaking to American soldiers in French*
Me: lol, do you seriously think they can understand you? We Americans can barely figure out how to speak English, never mind French.
@Braeden Carbo The exaggeration about how terrible us Americans are at English? Yes.
The critique of how utterly ridiculous it is to expect Americans to be able to understand French after a couple of months in France? No.
@Braeden Carbo How long did they stay in France? A few weeks? A few days? Do you have an estimate? I'm curious.
@Braeden Carbo So, I would be correct in my assessment that these American soldiers would be statistically unlikely to be proficient in French?
@Braeden Carbo No lol, of course not...I was being facetious in that regard. The Greatest Generation was sharp as hell as far as I know.

My Story, 2nd PVT William James Bartery -24th Infantry Division - Rifleman - USMC - 48th Platoon - 2nd Battalion - Hot Humid day in the Indochina road patrol's, I walked along the side of the road hearing buzzing around my sweaty face. "Fly's" I spoken'd. I walked along the path, Suddenly 2 of my Comrades got shot. One in the head 3 times, Second 1 Hit in the left leg archery. The Platoon SGT. told us to get down. We did and so, There was a Infantry VC and a Marksman. We didn't know where they were coming from until, One of are Comrades looked inside of his Binoculars and then said "Sir there coming from South East, By the Truck" the SGT. Looked "Alright." He aimed his M16 fired a 5.56mm into the Truck's Engine. The Truck Exploded, "Now its gonna be more hot!" my Comrade joked. The SGT. then said "Shut the fuck up..!.. Were in a Situation here!" He then zipped his mouth it looked like it was clear. Staff SGT. then said "48th Platoon up on your feet!"
We stood. We arrived at the FOB, 2 of the Dead Comrades were thrown inside of a truck where they gathered all those bodies, Me and 2 of my Comrades payed are respects to the Dead Men. We then grabbed some Drinks and some food sat down I hang'd out for the rest of the night. We then went to bed, All we heard was Gun firing and MG's going off. The Day was over.
Hope you enjoy this story I made, oh and btw I am not Allen Alonzo, I'm doing it on my Cousins account. So yeah I'll see you in the next story bye bye guys!
I did love this film.
It stuck with me.
It was true to life,
in my experience.
Rather like the Aesop's fable about the fox & the scorpion:
🔵 A fox and a scorpion both need to cross a river.
🔴 The scorpion asks the fox for a ride on its back as it cannot swim.
🔵 The fox refuses saying “no you’ll sting me”.
🔴 The scorpion replies that it wouldn’t, as it would damage the both of them.
🔵 The fox agrees and allows the scorpion to ride on it’s back.
🔴 Half way across the river the scorpion stings the fox.
🔵 As the poison takes effect on the fox and it starts to sink it asks the scorpion, “Why?”
🔴 “Why did you sting me, now we are both going to die?”
🔵 The scorpion replies, “I couldn’t help myself, it’s in my nature”.
Interesting parallel, applies well to true heart!
But we are not animals, we have reason and Intellect. Any man at any point can change the totality of his existence.

Well done
Interesting twist and great productions value. I thought the three main american characters were not believable soldiers that have been through months ow war. This may be due to directing or just actors having a lack of military knowledge. This really came out with how soldiers saluted, carried weapons. Overall I wnjoyed the film. Thank you for all the hard work put in. I make ww2 shorts myself on a smaller scale. You can find them on Wingspread Productions

Very good film! I was left speechless after what happens in the end! *Spoiler Ahead* I don’t really understand why she was going to shoot the guy that helped them in the end, I get it she is related to Hitler but still, he did save their lives!
Hi Marcus, thank you for the kind words!
I believe we had to find an ending and our goal was to make it a "cliffhanger"! Our goal was to show that she was way better prepared and trained than expected. All in all, she's heartless when considering what he did for them...However, you would be surprised in the following events if ever we get the chance to shoot them.
Kingston Films oooooo I can’t wait!!!
The reason why she did that it's because, she was taught not to believe in the enemy and she was brainwashed most likely when she was young while in the League of German Girls from the Hitler Youth before and currently at the war. This also applies to other German Kids that they are too, also taught in the same way that the enemy is their greatest archenemy and Germany is the only country that they can be safe to live and trust in. Also, the youth were easily taught than the older ones after the Nazi came into power.
I don't think the brainwashing has something to do with it.
Merely a question of survival. Pure logic: dead people don't talk. He showed a strong grief after she had murdered his fellow soldier. What will he do next if she put down the gun? Grab the rifle of his friend and kill her in return? Go back and inform French who will start the hunt? Considering the situation, killing Jason is the best way to win the time to flee as far as possible.
@@petergorelov418 Never thought about it like that, you might be right!

i tought because of the madman the french commander is i thought he was gonna put the german general in a croissant or in a baguette
I would of helped them too, but this is what moral people do sad it ended in betrayal. No good deen goes unpunished it seems. In the real world i think would of had a happier ending. But this is a good allegory to be cautious when helping strangers.

Holy sh*t That is Sixt Ver A Cheval I have been there
Exactly! A lovely village of the Alps!
Great film! I just have one question, how could those German kids speak English?
Cuz they learned english?
Stuff like this really happened in WW2. In the Battle of Saipan in the Pacific, there were civilians, mostly women and children, on the island and the Imperial Japanese Army told them American soldiers were barbaric and the USMC was special fighting force of men recruited from jail and insane asylums. This was just propaganda but many of the women threw their children off the cliffs and then they jumped themselves. During the Invasion of Sicily, there was the notorious Biscari Airfield Massacre, US soldiers Sergeant Horace T. West and Captain John T. Compton of the 180th Regiment of the 45th Infantry Division. West, in an act of rage, took a Thompson sub machine gun shot 45 Italian, some in Royal Italian army uniforms and some in civilian clothes and 3 German soldiers. Compton, emotionally stressed, order his men to open fire on the 34 Italian army and civilian soldiers who were taken prisoner. 12 were either wounded or killed. Whatever frontline they were sent to, some US soldiers can get real nasty with civilians. As long as there was Women, Alcohol, Gambling, Drugs or other Vices stuff like this always happened in war.
This is the biggest bruh moment in all of history. Bruh.
There is a middle path. Follow orders but treat the prisoners humanely. The American soldier who was bitter, hateful and out to hurt before killing was wrong. I thought that the protagonist would simply demand justice, but deciding to not keep an order while fighting your own compatriot is also wrong. The older soldier had no reason to leave,he could have been the deciding voice.
congratulations NINAAAA❤️❤️❤️
Fabulous actress indeed! It was a pleasure to have her onboard!
Shame. Her father was the most hated man in the world but she was vulnerable. Then who are the two corpses in the bedroom, if not Rosie’s parents? Did she kill Jason too?
A bit Disney for me. She sure spoke wonderful English for a little French girl. We all learned so many moral lessons. The jr. High mabe?
Shes a german who learned english probably
Wait wine glasses r not supposed to break they super strong
i dont understand the ending
Very good. Jason was warned though, don't save them. They had a picture of Hitler in their home. She was a Hitler Youth. Dang fool was that Jason. Brilliant acting though. Terrible American accents but overall great production
Sad, very sad
"That's why we can't take childrens"
Cpt. Miller
I don't understand the meaning of those fooled uniforms...
It's pointless to be selfish and ignorant to the world, but if you're way to kind to it at first sight, the world might use you as its very own puppet.
So the moral of the story is do not have compassion.
I think the french Officer had to many baguettes
