Katha - means story Kali - dance Kathakali is a means of story telling. The background singers are reciting a part from the puranas and the kathakali artists are using sign language to express each situations.
You know when i was a little kid, kathakali dance would come on dd national always late at night almost around midnight and that was so scary for me the facial expressions of the Dancers really scared the sh*t out of me at that time😂. Little did i know that this is something extraordinary, but now i understand it as i grew up.
