One tip or two. The finger you get is because of the curved screen. Try not to squeeze out the water by going over the fingers, instead push water out from point and outwards. Can cause creases otherwise. As an old window tinter I would definitely try to shrink the film (when it is on the pinlock/screen) with caution to make film fit to the curve.
Great idea actually. I just bought a Shoei RF-1400 and the dark smoke shield is out of stock. I was thinking about getting another clear shield and having a tint shop take care of it for me but doing the pin lock makes sense as well and they are not as pricey
I know this is an old video but it sounds like a bunch of haters up here nice work man. 👍🏿 A pin lock can be cleaned with lukewarm saopy water and a soft moist cloth allowing it to dry and tinting the pin lock isn’t such a bad idea if you mess it up just buy another one or have a couple on hand to switch them out.
A "visor" is a bill that juts out, the "shield" is what is what is being tinted ...very common misunderstanding. Ibought a Bell MX-9 for instance that has both a visor and a flip up face shield
What's that bubbly thing? Can't I just Clean the visor and then Stick the film using a Heat gun?? Or is it necessary to use whatever that bubbly solution is.
First when he used the soapy water is to clean the visor from any dirt so that the vinyl will stick perfectly and the other part when he used it on the vinyl itself is to lubricate the surface for better removal of the air bubbles.

Dude, that was horrible. Everything about this video is wrong. What is "Sopy water"? I can't believe you actually rubbed the pinlock with the silkscreen part of a t shirt. I'm surprised it didn't scratch the sh!# out of it. Maybe it did, we just can't see it in the vid.
Where to buy it

You can buy a photochromatic shield specifically for the rf-1400....it's not cheap though.
@@Jazzbone33 … those are nice but I snagged a dark tint shield shortly after this post. It’s as awesome as the helmet itself

Its soapy water. Simply add some hand wash liquid to some water. I never tried a heat gun. But it may work too.

how has the tint held up after a year? 👍
Bump
Awesome dude. This is what I was looking for
Hell yeah brother
You're really not supposed to spray down pinlocks. It decreases their lifespan a ton.
source? trust me bro lmao where do you guys come up with this
works well on flat visors, but curved visors no. (use dye in water for curved visors)
Where did you get the tinted material is what I want to know
Its from the local shop. you can buy it from ebay too.
Preciso fazer isso no meu .mesmo capacete 😮ficou top
Helmet PINLOCK INSERT tint!! And what a shit video. Why didn’t it stick around the edges? and what did you do to rectify it?
How to ruin a pinlock. OMFG you are destroying it !!

Disgusting video. There's no detail. What are the materials, where can we get this, etc.
