The Maeroero was a wild man of the woods, covered with long hair, and possessed of great strength and craftiness. According to Maori legend we have our own Bigfoot. It is an old legend of a creature called the Mohau. It is known by many names depending where in NZ you lived (which shows that different cultures lived here who had different names for it otherwise if all arrivals came from Hawaiiki, they'd call it the same thing. Think about that one awhile!). Maori spoke of of mighty ape-men who resided in the forested areas, these areas they dared not venture into as these hairy beasts were known to tear men apart, had huge lacerating fingernails and fed on human flesh. They were known by many names Moehau, Maero, Matau, Tuuhourangi, Taongina, and Rapuwai. The Moehau were describes by the Maori as being “Terrible creatures, half man, half animal”, with a very aggressive temperament, they were only too happy to massacre and eat anyone that strayed into their domain.

You call BS because you have not seen nor do you have knowledge. You have been here for 59 years right? You could be in NZ for 100 years and you still would not no. Let me confirm my friend the Moahau is real and all its story's, I'm a native Māori and they are mentioned plenty of times in Te Ao Māori story's. People don't understand what these giants truly are. But I can. These Moehau, the North American Yeti or Snowman or Sasquatch, the Philippine's Kapre, the Greek or Spanish Gigantes, Cyclops and many many more. People should understand that although they have many names and people call them differently, they are all the same. Their sizes are even identical, from just more than 7 feet high up to 10 or 12 feet. These are the souls of the giants who died during the great flood in the times of Noah. They used to be flesh and blood like us but now they are just the remnants of what they truly were. These giants were the children of the fallen angels and the "daughters of men" according to the Holy Bible. They have a very sad ending because after their death, their souls are not allowed to ascend to heaven or cross the realms of the living and into the afterlife. They just hover in-between but not cross it. They are "semi-real" so to speak. That is why they cannot be seen most of the time. They will only appear when they go into our realms but they are not allowed to interfere with humans or do any harm. And they will stay that way until the final judgement.
@@splash5150izy If you think you know more about these giants then go ahead. Put your comments here. I'd be glad to see it. And please say what are "not correct" about my comments.
@@splash5150izy Most of these giants drowned in the flood or were slain in the battle against the Israelites. A good example is Goliath who was slain by David. But there are rumors now about the Kandahar giant who was still flesh and blood until he was slain by the members of the U.S. Marines in the Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. So yes there might still be survivors but most of them are dead.

EXACTLY...They are called Nephilim. They are interdimensional and can be killed just as there relatives during the flood. However, Aliens are a higher intellectual Nephilim and are also demonic. They are always using Cattle....and they are always taking female eggs and males sperm from humans. God said Angels or Fallen Angels can't create life but can use eggs and sperm from different animals and Humans to 'make' life. Sounds outlandish but so does a spinning mass of lava that formed a perfect earth and man came from a one single cell of life (evolution). Think about it...evolutionists mostly believe life is on rocks on Mars but don't believe a little baby with a heart beat is not life (abortion). Check out the Late Dr. Chuck Missler's video here on YT called: The Return of the Nephilim. Theory...yes some of it is, yet some is true to us Christians due to it being in the bible. God Bless.

It was in very heavy bush. Quite a distance from me. I wasnt going to investigate it. A few years later, about 50 miles south of this location, i was standing on a narrow trail high above a river, with 3 friends. We all heard very loud foot steps coming our way. I yelled out. It stopped. We left the area. We never saw anything.

I love these stories of Bigfoot, Yeti and such. I’ve listened to and watched many dozens of them but I just don’t believe these creatures are real. There are millions of cameras out there and no one can ever get a real picture of one of these things.
Todd Standing is a hack, however the only way you're going to get a clear picture is with a ten thousand dollar camera with telescopic lens, anything less and you're going to get a blob squatch. If that weren't the case wildlife photographers wouldn't need to build hides and camp out for sometimes months in hopes of catching a few short glimpses of the target. And that's when the goal is intentional, as for security cameras etc, if they can see in infrared every camera will look like a laser beam pointing at the ground. If they're intelligent, and they certainly would be, then staying out of sight and being able to evade pursuers is academic
Beautifully said and absolutely correct! Man can put Rovers in Mars...but with all our technology, we can't get conclusive, tangible evidence of Bigfoot.
Have you not noticed that ALL the stories have common themes, the vocalisations, the wood knocking, the rock throwing. The Patterson/Gimlin film is also extremely intriguing. I’m from Nz and the only monster I’ve heard of is the Taniwha and that’s a lizard type but love to hear something different!

Fifty nine years living in New Zealand and this is the first time coming across this, we're a small country and if this was for real I think we would have all growen up knowing of this, I'm calling BS on this

Let me confirm my friend the Moahau is real and all its story's, I'm a native Māori and they are mentioned plenty of times in Te Ao Māori story's. They hang around our Maunga and Awas ( Mountains and Rivers ). They are one of the oldest races and I mean ancient ancient.

I was lost over night in the west coast bush many years ago and slept on a fern bed I had made.
I woke cold and hungry, as I opened my eyes without moving, something was standing a few feet away and saw my eyes open and it took off straight up a steep heavily forested slope very fast, and made alot of noise crashing thru Thick bush, what ever it was it was heavy.
Deer get big over there, but would not be standing over me watching me sleep, and I know what deer sound like

They seem to not harm anybody. Maybe it's good we don't find them cause no doubt stupid humans will kill them for "science" 😑
Where exactly did you encounter it?
The Coromandel isn't remote enough for the likes of an undiscovered bipedal colossus. I've hunted up and down far more remote places throughout New Zealand and I never heard of a hairy man apart from a legend about a taniwha who was said to have long hair. There are remote places with enough resources to make it technically possible but if there was a breeding population it wouldn't be undiscovered.. it's a regional myth most likely generated by lsd back in the 70's.
Some of what you say is correct but a lot is not- please comment me back I'll put up my synopsis as it is late right now- chur!
Yeah I think all these Bigfoot's across the world are a cross breed between fallen angels and some animal?monkey, gorilla,I don't think they are the giants they had red hair looked human ish had six fingers six toes, the Bigfoot appearance doesn't add up,plus the giants were way bigger, but yeah only God knows what is what lol

As a 43 yr old born n bred kiwi who's always lived rurally & has family in the Coromandel, this is the first I've heard of this. The black panther up the Lindis Pass, yup, but this - never. I'm def getting in touch with the fam to ask them tho, my fam have been tramping & wotnot the Ureweras etc & been part of SARs for decades so I'm interested in finding out what theyve heard!!
So, all these sightings and searchers/believers but no one has ever gotten a clear photograph of The Hairy Man? What is it about all things paranormal that makes them so hard to capture on film?
Multi dimensiality?
there was a video of one on youtube .
Perhaps something smarter than us: ruclips.net/video/CHh5lEIfyt0/видео.html
they act like they were told to make a story up, and they sound like it.
The elderly gentleman who says he has seen no beer marks on trees or a monster bigfoot type it just means that they the bigfoot don't hang around that area
Why is every episode a tourist video? Every last one.
They've probably given money to produce this show? It attracts a lot of tourists to the area, Think about Nessie..
I love these stories of Bigfoot, Yeti and such. I’ve listened to and watched many dozens of them but I just don’t believe these creatures are real. There are millions of cameras out there and no one can ever get a real picture of one of these things.
Todd standing
Todd Standing is a hack, however the only way you're going to get a clear picture is with a ten thousand dollar camera with telescopic lens, anything less and you're going to get a blob squatch. If that weren't the case wildlife photographers wouldn't need to build hides and camp out for sometimes months in hopes of catching a few short glimpses of the target. And that's when the goal is intentional, as for security cameras etc, if they can see in infrared every camera will look like a laser beam pointing at the ground. If they're intelligent, and they certainly would be, then staying out of sight and being able to evade pursuers is academic
No worries ill tell ya...they're real
Beautifully said and absolutely correct! Man can put Rovers in Mars...but with all our technology, we can't get conclusive, tangible evidence of Bigfoot.
Have you not noticed that ALL the stories have common themes, the vocalisations, the wood knocking, the rock throwing. The Patterson/Gimlin film is also extremely intriguing. People have nothing to gain from sharing their stories other than ridicule. I certainly believe they exist and I'm a sceptic/realist at the best of times. Can't say I've ever heard of this NZ one though.
I think New Zealand has and always has had bats. Which are of course mammals.
What does us having bats have to do with this story?
@@kiwidiesel5071 Hi there, during the video it was said that New Zealand never had mammals until Europeans came along. But New Zealand always had bats, which are mammals. Just saying. Happy new year.
