Not all English teachers show this to his or her students, if so I would have seen this a long time ago, only just now my grade eight English teacher showed this to me. The grade sevens and six's don't see it till grade eight. Then im not sure about grade nine and over because im not in grade nine yet. But I know that in elementary school they never showed me any of this type of videos, so I think it's just grade eights and maybe above...
I saw this in class and everyone said it was stupid and laughed but I lowkey love spoken words and was really feeling this dude .so much I liked him up to watch it again
I agree with you he’s got a point the children that were in your class must’ve been really immature lol I’m a sophomore and you must’ve already graduated high school but I’m barely just working on this assignment and I love it!
The thing is, I would never have been made to think so critically about my digital world without having experienced this poem by way of the very digital world of RUclips.
peopleaintshit duh that's an interesting point; i'd answer that i would still watch it here on RUclips rather than live. if i had a chance to see it live, i would but if i had to choose no strings attached why would i see this poem live only once when i can see it online as many times as i'd like? balance is a good plateau but people need technology to survive, prosper, and advance our collective consciousness forwards unto tomorrow.
I've seen this 20 times and still get goosebumps. Unfortunately, I'm watching this on my Apple iPhone. I have no idea how he did not get first place. The first place video was not very good. Nowhere near the passion and wordplay that Touchscreen has.
This poem sparked my interest in slam poetry but also inspired me to start an open mic poetry club at my high school. It will also be the first poem I recite at the first meeting!
my english teacher showed me this today. now i look at the comments, and they've been doing this for almost a decade. holy shit, someone has a creative lesson plan
This is relatable because so many people are stuck in their devices and they consume our lives instead of talking to people face to face, or doing "normal" activities.
My English teacher showed me this and usually once I study a poem i never want to hear it again but i have watched this about a hundred times and it is still amazing 😉❤️❤️
amazing how so many people are missing the point of this poem. 10 years ago texting while driving was not a Hazzard now it's a common tradegy. The moral of the story people is not to give up technology but to wear it as a loose "garment". Use technology for what it's worth but do not get so caught up in it the you trade your life, relationships, and other's for it.
I just met Marshall Davis Jones through Roger Love's Voice Of Success Masterclass and Marshall was beyond this world! I love it! thank you for the inspiration!
goodnesss this has always been one of my favorites. my 8th grade english teacher showed this to the class and it sparked my love writing and poetry even more. she was a wonderful woman.
I've never commented on a poem b4 and ive heard afew in my day I gotta say that is by far the realest poetry I ever heard its unfortunate how this generation has gone completely digital
WOW, He had me on the first word he spoke, such a meaningful flow. I have been going to readings for decades but this one brought poetry to me just when i realized i needed to hear a poem and had the privileged to hear this one. Your words has made me rethink how i want to present my poetry. You are the poet i want to learn from, thank you Sir.
I've watched this way more than once and everytime it gives me goosebumps! Reminds me to log off and shut down every now and then! Let's get out and do stuff with friends/family! :)
This is one of my all time favourite pieces. I send it to literally everyone I meet and I'm pretty sure that at least 200 of those views and are from me.....just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy this video.
Is it just me, or does every English teacher show this to his students?

I think balance is the best solution. Amazing that you get to watch him on youtube but how much better would it be if you went to see him live?
peopleaintshit duh that's an interesting point; i'd answer that i would still watch it here on RUclips rather than live. if i had a chance to see it live, i would but if i had to choose no strings attached why would i see this poem live only once when i can see it online as many times as i'd like?
balance is a good plateau but people need technology to survive, prosper, and advance our collective consciousness forwards unto tomorrow.

+blakebellamy82 Who is the First place finisher??
Please tell me the person's name and the video of his Poetry if you have seen it.
+blakebellamy82 most likely people didn't pick him because they think he's wrong.
+염지혜 They dont judge like that, just because your beliefs are different doesnt effect your placing in poetry
+염지혜 if you really think he is wrong, you're IQ must be below 0
Christopher Blok She never said that she thinks hes wrong, just that the judges might have
This guy is a genious. Not a single second of his poem lacks some sort of deeper meaning, and every bit ties into the theme. GOLDEN!

This is amazing. It really makes us rethink how we live our lives. I applaud you, Marshall Davis Jones.

this is a form of poetry called slam poetry tho
